BJP on Congress leader's ‘Rahul Gandhi would've taken PoK back' remarks: ‘Hilarious'
The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Friday reacted to Telangana chief minister Revanth Reddy's statement that 'had Rahul Gandhi been the prime minister, India would have taken PoK (Pakistan Occupied Kashmir) back'.
Union minister and BJP leader Jitendra Singh termed the comments 'hilarious' and said PoK would have existed "had Jawaharlal Nehru not been the PM if India".
'It is hilarious if any Congress leader says that if Rahul Gandhi was the PM of India, the PoK would have been India's part. But the fact is that had Rahul Gandhi's great maternal grandfather, Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru, not been the PM of India, the PoJK would not have been today. It is the result of his actions that first, the nation was divided, then Jammu and Kashmir,' Union minister Jitendra Singh told ANI.
Further targeting Jawaharlal Nehru, the union minister blamed the former prime minister for declaring a ceasefire during the war with Pakistan.

"We must not forget that when the India-Pakistan war was going on, and our forces were in a situation to win the PoK back, it was the then PM Jawaharlal Nehru who declared a unilateral ceasefire on the Akashvani without consulting with anyone..." Singh said.
Earlier, while participating in Congress 'Jai Hind Yatra' in Nizampet, Hyderabad, Reddy had criticised the Narendra Modi-led Central government and said that the country needs the leadership of Rahul Gandhi.
"Modi is expired rupee, Modi is like a 1000 rupees' invalid note. Today, this country needs Rahul Gandhi's leadership. If a leader like Rahul Gandhi would have been Prime Minister of this country, then he would have taken (former PM) Indira Gandhi as inspiration and would have walked in Kaali's (Maata) way and would have made Pakistan into two parts and would have taken PoK back," Reddy was quoted as saying by ANI.
He also drew comparisons with the late Prime Minister Indira Gandhi's leadership and her decisive action against China and Pakistan, including the 1971 war, which led to the creation of Bangladesh.
Reddy said, "Indira Gandhi's grandson Rahul Gandhi should become the Prime Minister of this country. Only if he becomes PM, he'll defeat Pakistan on one side and China on the other side and uphold our self-respect."

Cong rally slams BJP over remarks by 2 MP ministers on Army
Jabalpur: A 'Jai Hind Sabha' organised by the Congress at the Shaheed Memorial here on Saturday launched a scathing attack on the BJP over its two ministers' controversial remarks against the Army and its officer Col Sofiya Qureshi. Ex-servicemen gathered at the rally threatened to launch a statewide protest if action is not taken against the ministers. Addressing the gathering, Maj Gen Shyam Lal Srivastava (retd) said if the BJP state govt does not take action against deputy CM Jagdish Devda and tribal affairs minister Vijay Shah, former soldiers will take to the streets in protest. "There are over 90,000 former soldiers and more than 100,000 active soldiers in the state." He said the statements made by the ministers were "very unfortunate, and the govt should have taken strict action, but it did not". The MP high court took note of Shah's objectionable statement. Former CM Kamal Nath, while addressing the gathering, said the large turnout proves your pride in the Army. "Jabalpur is proud to produce ammunition." He recalled witnessing the Bangladesh War of 1971 and mentioned how Indira Gandhi made strong decisions despite the US pressure. He expressed concern over unemployment, stating that if the youth's future remains bleak, how will the state develop? Another ex-CM Digvijays Singh said those who did not contribute to the country's Independence were now insulting the soldiers who were willing to die for the nation. He noted that despite the Army's respect for PM Narendra Modi, the BJP was not taking action against its leaders. The leader of opposition in the MP assembly, Umang Singhar, said the country's democracy was in danger, with BJP leaders insulting the army. He mentioned that they face mistreatment when they protest, and preparations were underway to "establish a dictatorial regime". Chhattisgarh former CM Bhupesh Baghel and Congress MP unit president Jitu Patwari also slammed the BJP on issues such as the insult to the army, women's safety, and ceasefire violations.

Jabalpur: Congress leader and former CM Digvijaya Singh chose not to take the stage at the party's 'Jai Hind Sabha' here on Saturday, sticking to his public vow made a month earlier after a podium scuffle in Gwalior. He remained seated with his supporters in an area designated for senior citizens in front of the stage. During this time, several leaders invited him to come on stage, but he declined their requests with folded hands.
