Kieran Culkin Hilariously Shading Adrien Brody, Selena Gomez's Unfiltered Reaction To Her Win, And 10 More Of The Funniest Moments From The 2025 SAG Awards
Last night's SAG awards gave us plenty to talk about, from unexpected wins and rousing speeches to some hilarious gags. And while the glitz and glam of the evening had us all wowed, there were, as always, a couple of malfunctions and surprise moments along the way.
So, I've gone ahead and rounded up my personal favorite, funny, and awkward moments from the night for us all to enjoy. Let's dive in!
1. Timothée Chalamet 's hilarious reaction to winning Best Male Actor
Netflix
Before giving one of the most talked about speeches of the night, Timothée's stunned reaction to his Best Male Actor win for A Complete Unknown was definitely a standout moment. Hearing your name called for such a prestigious award would have anyone shocked, but Timmy's face had folks online cracking up.
Some viewers even pointed out the similarity between Timothée's reaction and his Lady Bird costar Saoirse Ronan 's adorable reaction to winning at the recent IFTA awards, and I literally can't get over them.
can get over the fact that timothée literally had this exact reaction to winning a sag award pic.twitter.com/Yo7fLtvM1k

2. Jamie Lee Curtis called out Colin Farrell for giving her Covid at the Golden Globes while presenting his award
Netflix
Academy Award nominee Colin Farrell received his first-ever SAG award last night for The Penguin, but the announcement of his win wasn't quite what we all expected.
Thankfully, Colin took Jamie's callout in his stride, kicking off his speech by saying, 'Guilty as charged. But Brendan Gleeson fucking gave it to me! So I was just spreading the love.'
3. Selena Gomez's genuinely shocked reaction to Only Murders In The Building 's win
Netflix
Only Murders In The Building took home a surprise win for Outstanding Performance By An Ensemble In A Comedy Series — and it seems as though no one was more shocked than Selena herself.

4. Martin Short and Steve Martin's absence from the ceremony, and Selena poking fun at them onstage

Selena continued her speech to explain her Only Murders In The Building costars' absence, saying, 'Marty and Steve aren't here because, you know, they don't really care.'
However, it's worth noting that Martin's absence was actually due to him contracting COVID-19 at the Saturday Night Live 50th anniversary show last week, as Steve recently shared. Martin seemingly caught it off Maya Rudolph, and Steve joked that the ' SNL curse is real.'

5. Joey King totally panicked when Martin Short wasn't there to collect his individual award
Netflix
Along with winning in the ensemble category, Martin was also awarded his first-ever individual SAG award for Outstanding Male Actor In A Comedy Series. But it looked like someone forgot to mention that he was absent, as presenters Joey King and Jack Quaid were left floundering.

6. The teleprompter in general, actually

Viewers at home noticed that there seemed to be a lot of moments where actors flubbed their lines while reading from the teleprompter. From the Anora cast reading the stage directions, to Timothée admitting he 'should've gone to rehearsals,' folks online were asking the real questions — like, was the teleprompter broken or just really small?

7. Harrison Ford looking exceptionally guilty as he was caught eating on camera
Netflix
As is customary, the show began with a selection of stars describing their actor origin stories — but Shrinking star Jessica Williams may have had her spotlight stolen by a hungry Harrison Ford sitting right behind her.

8. Jane Fonda Vs. The Sound System
Netflix
While Jane accepted her Lifetime Achievement award and gave a legendary speech, the sound system was unfortunately malfunctioning — but she handled it in the absolute smoothest way possible. Give her another award just for that.
9. The Law & Order drinking challenge
One of my fave viral moments from the night — Keke Palmer and Colman Domingo challenging the audience to drink if they had been on Law & Order. Cut to everyone and their mother taking a sip.
LOL Keke Palmer and Colman Domingo asked every celeb to take a drink if they ever appeared on Law & Order, and practically the entire SAG audience had to take a sip lol pic.twitter.com/lAmQ94paj3

11. Kristen Bell's Challengers joke with the cast of The Good Place
Netflix
And Kristen's hilarious moments didn't stop there — she joined Ted Danson and William Jackson Harper to make a reference to Challengers, hastily exiting once things heated up between Ted and William.

And while there are definitely a couple of honorable mentions for funny and awkward moments, including Kristen's Frozen parody and Lilly Singh's questionable red-carpet interviews, my personal favorite moment of the night was definitely the Best Supporting Male Actor speech.
And finally, 12. Every single thing that went down during Kieran Culkin's completely unhinged acceptance speech
And while there are definitely a couple of honorable mentions for funny and awkward moments, including Kristen's Frozen parody and Lilly Singh's questionable red-carpet interviews, my personal favorite moment of the night was definitely the Best Supporting Male Actor speech.
While Kieran is definitely known for his unconventional speeches, this one might just be my favorite of all time. The show's running joke was how heavy the awards were and it seemed like Kieran could not physically stop riffing about the 'heft' of the statues. So much so that he had to give his actual speech in about five seconds after being told to wrap it up by the tiny teleprompter.

Bryson DeChambeau returns to defend U.S. Open title as golf's YouTube king
OAKMONT, Pa. — Bryson DeChambeau returns to the 2025 U.S. Open as the defending champion and golf's YouTube king, at least among the pro ranks. From his 2 million YouTube fans watching him try to "Break 50" with the likes of Donald Trump, various influencers and athletes to joining Johnson Wagner as he tried to reproduce his remarkable bunker shot at 18 at Pinehurst No. 2 during Golf Channel's "Live From," people love DeChambeau's content creation. The latest example was on display at Oakmont, site of this week's 125th U.S. Open, when DeChambeau showed up for a practice round on May 31 and filmed every shot. It was riveting stuff that no other player had done before. 'He's done a heck of a job using social media channels to connect with viewers, connect with golfers, and show his true personality because I think he probably didn't do a great job of that early on in his career,' NBC's Kevin Kisner said. ESPN's Scott Van Pelt took his analysis of DeChambeau's reboot as a YouTube star – he's got nearly 3 million Instagram followers and another 2 million on TikTok, too – one step further. 'I think he's now kind of figured out where he wants to be. He's almost reinvented himself in some ways,' he said. 'He's grown as a human, it seems to me. Last year he came and sat down in the Butler Cabin with me on Thursday and Friday, and he's been sort of this — he's played very different characters in a movie. It's almost like he's been many different versions of himself. 'And when he sat and visited with me last year, I just remarked to a number of people, he just seems like a different guy. He seems more at ease with himself. I don't know if it's the tour he plays, I don't know if it's just part of growing up, which is part of all of our lives, but he seemed comfortable, entirely comfortable with himself.' DeChambeau, 31, finally is becoming comfortable in his own skin, and YouTube has helped him let his guard down, he said, 'showing the fans a side of me that was locked up for so long.' 'What's funny is as much as my guard has been let down, I feel like I'm more strategic in how I deliver things and how I give perspective on things. Before, I was pretty up front and would just say things the way I wanted to whenever I wanted to,' he explained. 'Now it's more strategic in the way I do it and deliver it because I think there's a lot of good that can come from that.' DeChambeau has said he's taken a page out of the playbook of MrBeast, whose viral content are the most-watched videos on YouTube. Asked whether any of his peers have turned to him for advice on how to launch a YouTube channel, DeChambeau highlighted Phil Mickelson. Lefty said he'd always seen what he called the playful, fun, intelligent and interesting side of DeChambeau. 'He's able to showcase that and not have who he is be filtered by a middle person,' Mickelson said. 'He controls what content he puts out there and what he wants to shoot and so forth. So his personality comes out. It's been remarkable to see the evolution of it and the way the public has responded to him because he's always been like that. It just hasn't been able to be noticed, I guess, properly.' In discussing the tips he has passed along to Mickelson, DeChambeau said he reads the comments section and tries to give the people what they want. 'We've grown our channel to over 2 million followers now and couldn't be more thankful, and it's literally by listening to the comments section, by looking at the comments and seeing what they want,' he said. Major champion. Long driver. YouTube star. A case could be made that the latter has become what drives DeChambeau. 'It's a new space. I'm learning how to become a little bit more entertaining,' he said. 'It's not just golf, golf, golf, trying to win every really what gets me up in the morning and gives me a lot of passion for this game." How China wins in the new propaganda war
American influencers are flooding China to show off its technology and culture — while the US has expelled the world's most-followed TikToker. A new Chinese initiative will pay for US influencers to visit and collaborate with local counterparts, according to Chinese state media, which said the program would boost cultural exchange. It's an investment in soft power and a propaganda coup: State outlets praised recent visits from Western influencers like IShowSpeed (whose six-hour YouTube video on his Shenzhen visit has nearly 9 million views) for showcasing 'authentic' life in China, Bloomberg wrote. The US' immigration crackdown, meanwhile, is pushing out influencers. The Italian citizen Khaby Lame, the world's most popular TikToker, was recently detained by US authorities and left the country after being reported by a rival influencer who is friends with President Donald Trump's son Barron.
