
MITS students develop portable, AI-powered skin disease detection device
The MITS management said: 'The device leverages Convolutional Neural Networks (CNNs) to classify skin conditions such as melanoma, basal cell carcinoma, and others through a mobile or web interface. Built on Raspberry Pi, the device includes a buzzer, GSM module, and LCD for real-time alerts and display.
In recognition of their achievement, the students were felicitated by the management, including Principal C. Yuvaraj and Correspondent N. Vijaya Bhaskar Choudary.

This clause is crucial for Microsoft, given that its flagship AI-driven products, including Copilot for Word, Excel, and GitHub, are deeply integrated with OpenAI's GPT models. Under the present deal, Microsoft's rights to OpenAI's most advanced systems would diminish once AGI is officially declared. That's a major risk for the tech giant, whose generative AI efforts rely heavily on the consistent availability of those models. With OpenAI now nearing what it sees as AGI milestones, Microsoft is eager to renegotiate before reaching that tipping point. Meanwhile, OpenAI is looking to become a public-benefit corporation—a status that prioritizes public good alongside profit. However, to make that structural transition, the AI lab reportedly needs Microsoft's approval. In exchange for supporting the shift, Microsoft is said to be negotiating for greater equity in the restructured entity and an extension of its current AI access rights, which would otherwise expire in 2030 or earlier if AGI is declared. The heart of the debate lies in defining AGI itself—a feat that remains elusive and conceptually vague. What qualifies as AGI? A chatbot composing original symphonies? Explaining complex movie plots like Inception? Without a universally accepted benchmark, the AGI clause becomes a gray area, prompting months of back-and-forth between the two partners. Adding complexity to the negotiations, OpenAI has reportedly suggested to investors that Microsoft's share of its revenue will shrink over time. That prospect may not sit well with Microsoft, which has invested billions into OpenAI's success and relies on its models to power the Azure OpenAI Service. The partnership has faced strains before. In June, The Information revealed previous clashes over the AGI clause. More recently, OpenAI's move to diversify its cloud support—tapping into providers like Google, Oracle, and CoreWeave—has sparked further scrutiny about the long-term alignment between the two tech titans. Complicating matters even more is Elon Musk's ongoing lawsuit against OpenAI. Musk, a cofounder of the organization, has accused it of straying from its founding nonprofit ideals and becoming too aligned with Microsoft's commercial interests. For Microsoft, the timing of these negotiations is critical. New Delhi: As India's healthcare sector grapples with rising patient volumes, workforce shortages and systemic capacity constraints, Artificial Intelligence (AI) is increasingly emerging as a practical and powerful tool to bridge critical gaps. Recent discussions among healthcare leaders and policymakers have spotlighted how AI is no longer just a futuristic concept but a present-day ally for clinicians navigating complex healthcare realities. The recently unveiled Future Health Index (FHI) 2025 India report was marked by an engaging discussion with some of India's leading healthcare experts and advocates. The event underscored how India is now poised to transition from viewing AI as a tool of potential to embracing it as a practical solution in real world healthcare settings. With a special address by H.E. Ms. Marisa Gerards, Ambassador of the Kingdom of the Netherlands to India, Nepal, and Bhutan, the event featured a thought-provoking panel discussion with leading healthcare experts including Mr. Neeraj Jain, Director - Growth Operations, Asia, Middle East and Europe (AMEE), PATH; Dr. Ratna Devi, Board Member at IAPO and CEO of DakshamA Health and Mr. Bharath Sesha, Managing Director, Philips Indian Subcontinent. The session was moderated by Ms. Prathiba Raju, Senior Assistant Editor at ETHealthWorld, The Economic Times Group. According to the India-specific findings in the FHI report, 76% of healthcare professionals believe AI will help improve patient outcomes, while over 80% feel AI can save lives by enabling timely care. These figures point to a growing confidence among India's clinical community in the technology's ability to enhance not replace human decision-making. 'India stands at a pivotal moment in its healthcare transformation,' said Bharath Sesha, Managing Director, Philips Indian Subcontinent. 'There is growing confidence in AI, not just as a tool for efficiency, but as a catalyst for improved outcomes, broader access, and more empowered healthcare professionals. The Future Health Index 2025 findings reaffirm what we've long believed: when applied with purpose, technology can bridge the gap between capability and capacity. Trust in both the technology and the intent behind it is essential to scaling AI in a meaningful way. Cross-sector collaboration is equally critical. By bringing together clinicians, technologists, policymakers, and patients, we can co-create solutions that are clinically relevant, ethically sound, and scalable across India's diverse healthcare ecosystem.' Global best practices suggest that collaboration is key. The development and deployment of AI in healthcare must involve a broad set of stakeholders. This inclusive approach is especially vital in countries like India, where the scale and diversity of the health system present both opportunities and risks. 'During the launch of the 10th edition of Future Health Index 2025 report commissioned by Philips, we had a meaningful discussion with the Indian stakeholders thinking not just about what technology can do, but how it can be applied ethically, equitably, and effectively.' The findings from the report also reveal a broadening acceptance of AI in everyday practice. 72 per cent of professionals say it supports accurate, real-time clinical decision-making, while 75 per cent believe it is particularly valuable for training junior staff and expanding access in underserved areas. 'AI is no longer a choice it's the only viable path to delivering care at scale for a nation of 1.5 billion people,' noted Mr. Neeraj Jain, Director - Growth Operations, Asia, Middle East and Europe (AMEE), PATH. 'But for it to work, our entire ecosystem must be prepared to adopt it responsibly. That means accelerating adoption while ensuring AI tools are developed in close consultation with clinicians, so they are fit for purpose and trusted at the point of care.' While trust in AI is growing, it remains conditional. 67 per cent of healthcare professionals voiced concern over data bias, highlighting the risk of inequities if AI systems are not trained on representative datasets. Questions around legal liability (44%) and defined guardrails for clinical use (45%) also persist. ' Building trust in AI is critical,' said Dr. Ratna Devi, Board Member at IAPO and CEO of DakshamA Health. 'People need clarity on how these tools work and assurance that they are safe and reliable. The doctor–patient ratio in India is unlikely to change dramatically, so AI must be seen as a tool to augment, not replace doctors. It can enhance care delivery, improve efficiency, and help drive change, but it must always complement the human touch.' The FHI 2025 findings also highlight the importance of sustained investment in education and digital capacity-building. Empowering healthcare workers to understand and trust AI, will be essential to mainstream adoption and to ensuring long-term success. As AI moves further into the clinical mainstream, India finds itself at a pivotal moment. The makers have released the teaser of the movie on Tuesday. Mystical crystals power intergalactic narrative The story revolves around warriors defending mystical crystals that power an entire galaxy. These crystals are fundamental particles beyond neutrinos that "create the universe" but exist for only a millionth of a millionth of a millionth of a millionth of a second," Shekhar Kapur explains as quoted in a press note shared by the makers. Written and directed by Shekhar Kapur, the series follows an interdimensional warrior who survives mortal danger with the help of his lover in another dimension. "The only time that lover can bring him to her is when he's absolutely close to death... He plans to make all production design and characters open for creators to use--"a rainforest of ideas." Users can adapt elements from "Warlord" for a one-cent fee, as long as their creations remain open source for others to use in their art, as per the press release from the makers. Kartik Shah serves as composer for 'Warlord.' The project represents a dramatic departure from traditional production methods, with Kapur noting that sequences that would have taken "months and months" to create in the past are now being completed in just two weeks. AI seen as leveller in filmmaking Calling AI a democratizing force, Shekhar Kapur believes it will disrupt the dominance of big studios and streaming platforms. "The studios have followed the wrong model... AI is going to destroy the myth of budgets, destroy the myth of being big," Shekhar Kapur says, likening it to Napster's disruption of the music industry. One of the series' most striking elements is its unique design. Shekhar Kapur reveals that the spaceships are inspired by jellyfish and are envisioned as living, organic vessels. "In the distant future, we'll have materials that will heal themselves. So spaceships will be made out of living materials and organic materials that heal and live," said Shekhar Kapur as quoted in the press note.
