Malaysia and Indonesia to resume annual consultation in Jakarta
The meeting is scheduled for July 29 in Jakarta, alongside ASEAN-related events.
Communications Minister Datuk Fahmi Fadzil confirmed the decision, highlighting the positive atmosphere during Anwar's recent visit to Indonesia.
The consultation will serve as a platform for both leaders to address bilateral issues, including the long-standing Ambalat maritime boundary dispute.
Fahmi noted that the Ambalat issue, unresolved for decades, remains a priority but stressed that discussions would mark the beginning of a resolution process rather than an immediate conclusion.
Foreign Minister Datuk Seri Mohamad Hasan previously emphasised Malaysia's commitment to a win-win solution.
The leaders also reaffirmed plans to enhance strategic cooperation in trade, security, and joint maritime development.
The upcoming talks aim to strengthen diplomatic ties and foster regional stability.

A new category, the Special Award for Sustainable Energy, was introduced in CIPTA 2025, highlighting the competition's commitment to environmental innovation and green technology. The award recognises outstanding projects that demonstrate exceptional innovation in sustainable energy applications, renewable technologies or energy efficiency solutions. Winning teams in all categories received cash prizes, medals, commemorative trophies and certificates of achievement. Following the announcement of the winners, the Crown Prince presented the prizes, trophies, medals and certificates to the winners of the local categories, the Smart Junior Competition and the Asean categories. A remarkable achievement was recognised at CIPTA 2025, with one innovation receiving the prestigious grand prize of the Crown Prince Special Award 2025. The award was presented to Dr Law Kah Haw and Mohammad Asri bin Puasa, both from UTB, for their winning innovation titled, 'Novel Filter-Less Single-Source Extendable Switched-Capacitor Boost Multilevel Inverter Suitable for Renewable and Industrial Applications'. The selection of the grand prize winner underwent a rigorous and comprehensive evaluation process by a panel of international and local judges. This year marks the second time an innovation has received the prestigious grand prize, the first being exactly ten years ago in 2015. The Crown Prince presented the grand prize trophy, cash prize and certificate to the winners of both the Crown Prince Special CIPTA Award and the Special Award for Sustainable Energy. Anwar meets Muslim community in Rome [WATCH]
ROME: Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim held a meeting with the Muslim community in Italy during his three-day official visit to the country. During the meeting, Anwar held discussions with Comunita Religiosa Islamica Italiana (Coreis) vice-president Imam Yahya Pallavicini and Islamic Cultural Centre of Italy-Grand Mosque of Rome secretary-general Abdellah Redouane. Anwar said the meeting provided an opportunity for dialogue and the exchange of views on efforts to strengthen the development of the ummah, including addressing Islamophobia with wisdom and prudence. "I also stressed Malaysia's commitment to upholding Islam based on the values of moderation, tolerance, and harmony through education, dakwah, and international cooperation with the Muslim community in Italy," he said after the meeting. As a gesture of goodwill, Anwar also contributed aid to the Muslim community in Rome and presented a special edition copy of the Quran, along with 10 Italian-translated copies. There are about 2.7 million Muslims living in Italy.

MDEC backs 83 local tech firms to access RM450mil opportunities in Indonesia
KUALA LUMPUR: The Malaysia Digital Economy Corporation (MDEC) has facilitated the entry of 83 Malaysian technology companies into the Indonesian market, generating over RM450 million in digital export opportunities. Continuing its mission to drive Malaysia's digital economy across Asean and enhance regional cooperation, MDEC's latest initiative DEX CONNEX Indonesia played a pivotal role in expanding market access for Malaysian firms. The programme facilitated the signing of 26 memorandums of understanding between Malaysian and Indonesian companies. The agreements span sectors such as cybersecurity, artificial intelligence (AI), cloud services, food and beverage, digital platforms and talent development. They are designed to create a robust and collaborative digital ecosystem across Asean, especially as Malaysia serves as Asean chair and champions innovation as a driver of regional growth and resilience. MDEC chief executive officer Anuar Fariz Fadzil described Indonesia as a vital partner in Malaysia's digital ambitions. "Through DEX CONNEX, Malaysia is focusing on cross-border collaborations to continue building a resilient digital bridge between two thriving ecosystems," said Anuar. "With our strong tech ecosystem and the spirit of Asean unity, both nations continue to nurture a future where digital growth is inclusive, sustainable, and benefits all layers of society, ensuring long-term success," he added.
