When is 'How to Train Your Dragon' coming to streaming? Here's our best guess
DreamWorks is whisking us away on a fantastical adventure with Hiccup and Toothless in the live-action remake of "How to Train Your Dragon."
Fifteen years after the original movie, this new release takes us back to the island of Berk and reintroduces us to its Viking residents, who have been warring with dragons for generations.
Amid all the trouble, Hiccup (Mason Thames) befriends the lovable Night Fury dragon, Toothless, and their unlikely bond challenges the very foundations of Viking society.
Despite trepidation around this trend of remakes, "How to Train Your Dragon" looks to be off to a flying start. The new release is Certified Fresh on review aggregate site Rotten Tomatoes, and currently holds a near-perfect 99% rating from fans, too.
Waiting to watch "How to Train Your Dragon" from the comfort of your own sofa? Well, we do not currently have a confirmed home release date for the new movie.
However, if you're waiting to watch the live-action movie at home, or you've already seen it and want to relive the adventure all over again, here's my best guess at the "How to Train Your Dragon" streaming date.
At the time of writing, the only way to watch the live-action "How to Train Your Dragon" remake is by heading to your local movie theater, and seeing as it only came to theaters on June 13, that probably won't change for a while yet.

And, of course, would-be streamers will first have to wait for the movie to do the rounds on premium video-on-demand (PVOD) platforms, first.
However, being a Universal release, we can at least presume that when "How to Train Your Dragon" comes to streaming, it'll first be made available to watch on Peacock.
At the time of writing, I'd guess that "How to Train Your Dragon" will come to Peacock at some point in October 2025.
That's based on how long we've waited for past DreamWorks features to come to NBCUniversal's streamer. For example, we waited 120 days between "The Wild Robot's" theatrical and streaming debut.
Similarly, "Dog Man" came to Peacock on Friday, May 30, 120 days after it premiered in theaters on January 31, while "Kung Fu Panda 4" had a slightly quicker turnaround, arriving on Peacock 106 days after hitting theaters in March 2024.
Of course, if the "How to Train Your Dragon" live-action remake really takes flight at the box office, there's always the chance it might stay in theaters even longer. And, of course, that above release window is just a guess; nothing's official just yet.

‘How To Train Your Dragon' Soaring Toward No. 1 Debut At Box Office
The live-action remake of How to Train Your Dragon, starring Gerard Butler, is knocking Lilo & Stitch off the top of the domestic box office perch this weekend. Lilo & Stitch, a live-action remake of the 2002 Disney animated hit has been No. 1 at the domestic and worldwide box office since its debut in theaters on May 23. Butler, who voiced the role of Chief Stoic the Vast in the animated film, plays the character in the live-action version of How to Train Your Dragon. Mason Thames plays the role of his haphazard son, Hiccup, who bonds with a Night Fury dragon he names Toothless; while Nico Parker takes on the role of Hiccup's teen Viking rival-turned-ally Astrid. Lilo & Stitch, meanwhile, is projected by Deadline to earn $16 million from 3,675 theaters domestically. If the forecast holds, it will boost the film's worldwide take to $367 million. Paramount Pictures' Mission: Impossible – The Final Reckoning and Lionsgate's John Wick spinoff movie Ballerina are in a battle for the No. 4 spot, as Deadline projects both films will earn about $9 million each. The Final Reckoning is playing in 2942 North American theaters this weekend, while Karate Kid: Legends is in 3,008 venues. Should the projections hold, it will up Ballerina's domestic tally to $41.4 million, and boost The Final Reckoning's North American box office take to $165.2 million. How to Train Your Dragon's Astrid Actor Gives Strong Response to Casting Backlash in Remake
How to Train Your Dragon star Nico Parker, who portrays Astrid Hofferson in the upcoming live-action remake, gave a strong response to the critics of her casting in the remake. Notably, America Ferrera voiced the character in the original animated trilogy and the associated projects. Nico Parker spoke on the backlash against her casting in the How to Train Your Dragon live-action remake during an interview with The Times of London. The controversy is that Parker didn't have certain features of her animated counterpart, including blonde hair and blue eyes. Parker began by acknowledging that there were critics who love the originals and have some reservations about the remake. 'There's some people that really love the animated movies and really want to see an exact play-by-play of that film, and I hope that you can watch [the new version] and find something that you love about it, regardless,' Parker said. She then proceeded to dismiss the criticism leveled against her casting for her appearance.
