Footage of Princess Kate patting Prince William on the bum during a royal engagement has gone viral on TikTok.
The Princess of Wales showed her feelings as the couple were walking into the BAFTA Film Awards at the Royal Festival Hall, in London, on February 19, 2023.
The couple were walking past a fan who was filming on a cell phone when she gave William a cheeky pat on the backside, behavior that might cause more conservative royal watchers to raise an eyebrow.
A clip of the moment resurfaced on TikTok where it was liked 27,000 times and viewed 280,000 times having been posted with the message: "Kate 👀🍑."
Why It Matters
Royals have not always been known for public displays of affection.
In 1953, when Queen Elizabeth II returned from a six-month tour of the Commonwealth without her children she famously shook Charles' hand rather than hug him.
In the modern world, though, the family are far more public with their feelings, including PDAs like Kate's at the BAFTAs.
What to Know
As the prince and princess made their way down the red carpet at the Royal Festival Hall, cameras captured Kate giving William a subtle pat on the behind—a rare public display of affection that got fans talking on social media at the time.
Kate stunned onlookers, in a reworked Alexander McQueen gown and opera gloves, while William opted for a velvet tuxedo.
The affectionate gesture was subtle—easily missed if not for a slow-motion clip circulating online—but it quickly became one of the night's most talked-about moments.
Royal watchers applauded the glimpse of lightheartedness between the couple, interpreting it as a sign of their enduring bond.

DaveWhat People Are Saying
One fan commented, "she had to claim him on the spot 🤭🤭🤭" while another wrote: "Our beautiful Kate, can't wait for her to be Queen!"
What Happens Next
The Wales family are on their summer vacation but will likely be back out on royal engagements in the Fall, not least for the State Visit of President Donald Trump.

Battlefield 6 Beta Blows Out Queue Times After Players Flock to Game
Based on facts, either observed and verified firsthand by the reporter, or reported and verified from knowledgeable sources. Entertainment gossip and news from Newsweek's network of contributors Battlefield 6's first beta period has just started in early access, with hundreds of thousands of players flocking to the game to try it out. The Battlefield 6 open beta starts in earnest on August 9 and runs for the entire weekend, but players who preordered the Phantom Edition of the game or subscribed to EA Play Pro are able to access it from today. That makes it all the more impressive that the numbers for the game are already so high — over 300,000 players are active in the open beta app on Steam at the time of writing, with that number likely to rise as US audiences start to wake up. That's not including players on PS5 and Xbox Series X|S, with some estimating the real numbers could be over a million across all platforms already. EA The massive interest in the game saw queue times in-game balloon out, with some players reporting positions in the queue of over 200,000, being met with a message saying that the game servers are at maximum capacity. Thankfully, EA and DICE, the development team behind Battlefield 6, have been quick to respond to the massive player demand, assuring players in a post on X (formerly Twitter) shortly after the launch of the beta that they were working on a "substantial increase in server capacity." Not long after, that assurance seemed to come to fruition, with the official Battlefield Comms X account saying that queues were returning to suitable levels and times. We are now seeing signs of queue numbers returning to suitable levels and times. Thank you for your patience as we worked to mitigate the issue. We'll continue to keep an eye on queues and server capacity, and will follow up where needed! — Battlefield Comms (@BattlefieldComm) August 7, 2025 The early interest will likely come as a relief to EA, as it shows that the mixed reaction to 2021's Battlefield 2042 hasn't soured players on the franchise. BF2042 received mixed reviews from critics upon its release, with a metascore as low as 61/100 on some platforms on review aggregator website Metacritic. The reaction from players was even worse, with the game quickly becoming one of the worst reviewed games on Steam. Players criticized the game's lacking features, including many features missing that were present in prior games, as well as bugs and performance issues present in the game. Another concern from players was the inclusion of Christmas-themed skins, something players thought was at odds with the game's serious tone. That's something that is said to be avoided in the new game, after it was revealed in interviews with the game's developers that Battlefield 6 won't have silly crossover costumes like that of pop culture characters often featured in games like Fortnite and Call of Duty.

What Owner Feeds 'Picky' Dog for Dinner Goes Viral, Leaves Viewers Stunned
Based on facts, either observed and verified firsthand by the reporter, or reported and verified from knowledgeable sources. Newsweek AI is in beta. Translations may contain inaccuracies—please refer to the original content. A Maltipoo with refined taste has gone viral for her very unconventional dinner—Vietnamese pho. Brooklyn-based TikToker Nicholas Huynhme (@poppypoothemaltipoo) shared a video of their dog, Poppy, a 1-year-old Maltipoo, digging into a homemade bowl of noodle soup. The clip has racked up almost 800,000 views and 91,400 likes, with viewers both impressed and concerned by the meal. "Ever since we brought her home, she hasn't really liked eating her own food. We had to get creative to get her to eat, whether it was adding kibble toppers or making full home-cooked meals. She would often ignore her bowl but would always stare at us while we ate, clearly wanting whatever was on our plate. One day, while we were eating pho, we thought, why not make a version just for Poppy," Huynhme told Newsweek. Huynhme described the dish as a simplified and dog-friendly take on the traditional Vietnamese noodle soup. They made a gentle chicken broth using chicken breast, carrots, and rosemary—intentionally skipping any onions, salt, or spices. A split image of Poppy the Maltipoo tucking into a dog-friendly Pho. A split image of Poppy the Maltipoo tucking into a dog-friendly Pho. @poppypoothemaltipoo/@poppypoothemaltipoo The bowl was completed with homemade steamed rice noodles, shredded chicken, chicken gizzard, chicken heart, beef, a bit of cilantro, and bean sprouts for color and texture. "She's getting pickier by the day," the pawrent wrote in the text overlay of the video. They explained that while the recipe wasn't traditional, it was something they could safely share with Poppy—and she loved it. Cooking for her has become not just a way to nourish her, but to express love and share joyful moments online. Pho is a classic Vietnamese dish, traditionally made with a deeply savory beef broth infused with spices like star anise, cinnamon, and cloves, and served with rice noodles, herbs, and thin slices of meat. It's typically topped with bean sprouts, basil, lime, and chili. While the dog-friendly version skips many of these for safety, it keeps the essence of comfort and warmth that defines the dish. The TikTok video sparked a range of reactions online. "My dog also gets pho," said one user, Nancy. "Y'all, do you know how hard it is to make puppy pho? You have to make EVERYTHING from scratch. That's a dedicated paw-rent," another viewer wrote. "I order from my local pho place so often that they let me add a 'dog order'—some of the beef, noodles and sprouts for Olive (my dog), also a plain unsalted broth to cook her meats slightly. It's too late for us to change our ways but a warning to others. You may not want to get into the habit of this stuff," said a commenter named Aaliyah. Others were more cautious. "Pho has onions, avocado, chocolate & grapes—cause dogs organ failure over time," warned one user. Huynhme was quick to respond: "We appreciate you looking out but we don't put any of that when we make it special for our dog." "This might be dangerous for the dog because she will pho everyday and quickly get addicted," joked another commenter. "The stuff I'm doing for my senior dog these days is crazy man," added Jemma. While opinions were mixed, many viewers praised the effort and devotion shown in crafting such a thoughtful, dog-safe meal. As Huynhme put it, "Like many dog parents, we are constantly googling 'Can my dog eat this?' before giving her anything new."
