Why Kylie Jenner Always Wore Black Throughout Awards Season
I'm serious when I say this, but Timothée Chalamet and Kylie Jenner are giving classic Hollywood couple. Perhaps it's that reality TV personality turned beauty mogul Kylie sits at the helm of a multi-million dollar cosmetics company. Maybe Timothée's trajectory as an actor is reminiscent of James Dean or Marlon Brando in their prime. Or maybe it's that I've been following their careers individually for years, and I'm biasedly rooting for them to win. Who's to know? I do know that every time Kylie stepped out in support of Timothée during his awards show run, she was always wearing a beautiful black dress, and I really vibe with her reason behind the fashion. In an interview with Harper's Bazaar, Kylie explained why she always appeared dressed like a Gen Z Morticia Addams when she went to awards shows in honor of her boyfriend, Timothée. "I think it just like happened that way," she said. No shade, my favorite color is black, and I dress like a millennial Wednesday Addams most Wednesdays. Kylie explained she basically wore black because she wasn't trying to take too much attention away from the Dune actor during awards season. Kylie told the publication, "Even, recently I was like, 'I can't wear another black dress.' And then of course the most perfect, gorgeous Schiaparelli black dress shows up." Here's all the black dresses that Kylie in support of Timothée during awards season: Kylie wore a lacy, black Hanae Mori gown at the 2024 Golden Globes. Kylie wore a black, backless vintage John Galliano gown to the 2025 BAFTAs. Kylie wore a black Miu Miu beaded gown for the 2025 Academy Awards. For the Vanity Fair Oscars Party she switched into a black, strapless Miu Miu lingerie dress with a corset bodice and sheer skirt. And for their first red carpet debut at 70th David di Donatello awards ceremony, Kylie joined Timothée in the Schiaparelli dress she referenced in the interview. To give her some credit, there was one time she didn't wear a black dress, and that was the time she wore a vintage Atelier Versace gown at the 2025 Golden Globes. Kylie told Harper's Bazaar, 'Although these are the most beautiful, iconic gowns that I've been wearing, I think a black dress is also kind of like, not too attention grabbing in the best way." Kylie Jenner had a signature look when she joined Timothée Chalamet at awards shows this year: a good black gown. From the Oscars and BAFTAs to the 70th David Di Donatello Awards in Rome (where she and Chalamet made their red carpet debut), Jenner chose black dresses for a thoughtful reason: She didn't want to upstage her partner during his big moment. She explained to Harper's Bazaar, 'Although these are the most beautiful, iconic gowns that I've been wearing, I think a black dress is also kind of like, not too attention grabbing in the best way. You can never go wrong with a black dress.' Still, she hadn't planned on wearing black at the David Di Donatello Awards. 'Even recently, I was like, 'I can't wear another black dress,'' she recalled. 'And then of course the most perfect, gorgeous Schiaparelli black dress shows up.' Jenner describes her style as versatile: 'I think that I'm kind of a chameleon with my style; I love to play. I've been like that since I was 16. I changed my hair color like once a week and cut my hair off and then put a wig on or put extensions in; and I've always switched up my style. It's just a part of who I am, and that definitely bleeds into [my fashion brand] Khy.' Jenner spoke more about her fashion evolution in ELLE's November 2024 issue, admitting that she is 'always experimenting. At the root of my authentic style, I think I'm more dark feminine.'

But, Kate has a rather ingenious method for sidestepping personal queries in public, ensuring not too much is divulged about her family life. This particular tactic came to light courtesy of Hollywood actor Rami Malek who whimsically offered his babysitting services to the royal couple. As the royals were then recent parents to their third child, Prince Louis, Rami's bold offer seemed to catch Kate off guard. During his TV appearance, he recounted: "The funniest thing about that was, I said, 'If you ever need a day off, some time off, I'm back-up for you.'", reports the Mirror. And in the most regal, elegant way, she gave me a look. But you can tell. Imagine, you're dressed to the nines, have to talk to all these actors." Rami also noted the careful attention the royals pay during their interactions, saying: "They're so careful. But it was so cool. I think I caught her off guard for a second. It appears that the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge appreciated his candidness, as Prince William later invited him to co-host the previous Earthshot Prize Awards ceremony in Boston. Rami isn't the only one who admires the Duchess of Cambridge - actress Reese Witherspoon has also praised Kate's grace and professionalism in her personal memoir, Whiskey in a Teacup. Reese fondly remembered the day she met Kate, saying: "I was up at 4am doing my hair. That's early, even for me. I was up, dressed and waiting by the door by 7am. Jim took pictures of me in the car. You can see rays of happiness shooting out of my face. I love Kate Middleton that much. "And she did not disappoint! She was just lovely and warm, elegant and composed. She also told a joke, and I immediately fell under her spell. She's just as magnificent as she seems to be. She's a very compassionate, socially conscious, deeply caring person.
