‘Absolutely not': Maria Shriver says no to dating apps after Schwarzenegger divorce
In an interview on The Jamie Kern Lima Show this week, the journalist and former first lady of California revealed that her four adult children have encouraged her to try online dating.
'My kids have kidded around going, 'We should make you a dating app,'' said Shriver, 69, referring to Katherine, 35, Christina, 33, Patrick, 31, and Christopher, 27. 'I mean, what do you call it, a dating profile? I'm like 'Absolutely not!''
Shriver, who finalized her divorce from actor and former California governor Arnold Schwarzenegger in 2021, made it clear she's content with where she is.
'No, I'm good. I'm finally good on my own, and that's taken a tremendous amount,' she said. ' I have a beautiful life that I'm deeply grateful for.'
Since the end of her 25-year marriage, Shriver said she's spent time rethinking her understanding of love and connection.
'I used to think that love came only in an intimate, romantic package, and it made me miss out on all the love that was being offered to me through my friends and through other people,' she said. 'And I've now realized that there's so many different ways to access the love that is there for us, the love that exists for us, because we're so focused on 'dating,' right? Or your marriage, partner, and that nobody can give you everything you're looking for.'
She added: 'So I'm really focused on expanding my notion of love, expanding the amount of people that are in my open field so to speak, that bring me love. And so whomever I end up with, if I do end up with someone that way, they're going to be in a village.'
Shriver is currently promoting her new book, 'I Am Maria,' a candid exploration of identity, los and renewal. While she remains open to the future, she said she's at peace with the present.
'I've just kind of gotten to the place now where I'm thinking, I don't know, maybe, but my life is really full,' she said. 'I'm not looking, but I'm open to whatever God sends my way.'

Chris Pratt says he loves his wife's cousin RFK Jr., sparking backlash. His politics have long been called into question.
The 'Guardians of the Galaxy' star is married Katherine Schwarzenegger, who is the daughter of RFK Jr.'s cousin Maria Shriver. Chris Pratt is facing criticism for his recent comments on Robert F. Kennedy Jr., the secretary of Health and Human Services and Pratt's cousin-in-law. The Guardians of the Galaxy star is married to Katherine Schwarzenegger, the daughter of RFK Jr.'s first cousin, Maria Shriver. Speaking to Bill Maher on the talk show host's Club Random podcast, Pratt shared that he has spent considerable time with the politician in family settings. 'I think he's great. I think he's funny. I like him. I love him,' Pratt said on the podcast, to which Maher, who called RFK Jr. 'a friend,' agreed. When it comes to Kennedy's views — which include skepticism of vaccines and a push to remove what he considers potentially harmful additives from food and pharmaceuticals — Pratt said he doesn't like to get involved in politics, especially when spending time with a relative at family gatherings. 'I don't know what to believe, 'cause it's not like I sit with Bobby and I go, 'So, hey, let's talk about this,'' Pratt said. 'It's like, we're just playing cards or playing Mafia or having fun or having dinner. I'm not gonna pick his brain to find out exactly which of those things are true. I just kind of assume that none of them are. And, for the most part, I wish him well.' Pratt said that he believes much of the public criticism of RFK Jr. has to do with his support of the 'most divisive president ever.' RFK Jr., who ran for president in 2024 before aligning himself with President Trump, has long been a controversial figure. Though he initially aligned himself with environmental movements early in his career, Kennedy has since been criticized for spreading conspiracy theories, and for promoting vaccine skepticism. His personal life has also faced scrutiny, with members of his own family, such as his younger cousin Caroline Kennedy, calling his character into question during his confirmation hearings for the Department of Health and Human Services. Pratt, however, did not speak to these controversies, instead praising Kennedy for his work with the food industry. Pratt said he's seen bipartisan support for things like 'getting terrible toxic stuff out of our kids' food.' As health secretary, Kennedy is currently working on phasing out artificial dyes from food products, as well as encouraging a move away from high fructose corn syrup, which Trump has also voiced support for. . 'I'd hate to be so mired in hatred for the president that any success from his administration is something I'd be having allergic reaction to,' the Parks and Recreation alum said. 'To be like, 'Oh, well, if they do it, I don't want it to happen. … I'll put Clorox in my children's cereal myself.'' Pratt's comments immediately stoked backlash on social media, with some calling Pratt out for supporting a man who they believe is damaging public health. Others, however, weren't surprised by Pratt's support given some of his past comments on political issues. The actor, who has not publicly identified as a Republican or Democrat, came under fire on social media in November 2024 after he published an op-ed on mother-in-law Shriver's online publication the Sunday Paper, in which he declined to endorse a candidate for the presidential election and called upon Americans to 'focus instead on showing up for each other' in the wake of the divisive race. At the time, some argued that Pratt's words ignored the gravity of the election, with one person tweeting in response to the op-ed, 'My life is at stake, the bodily autonomy of my fellow trans siblings and people who can get pregnant in general, of black people and immigrants, of anyone who disagrees with Trump's policies, and watching Chris Pratt say 'I see both sides' and 'it's not about who wins and loses.'' Four years before that, in the fall of 2020, Pratt was the target of a wave of social media criticism sparked by an initial post calling him the 'worst Chris' in Hollywood, partially due to his association with Hillsong Church, which has been accused of homophobia. (Pratt later stated that the church welcomes everyone.) His Avengers co-star Mark Ruffalo, who often expresses his left-leaning politics online, came to Pratt's defense in a tweet in October 2020. 'You all, @prattprattpratt is as solid a man there is,' Ruffalo wrote. 'I know him personally, and instead of casting aspersions, look at how he lives his life. He is just not overtly political as a rule. This is a distraction. Let's keep our eyes on the prize, friends. We are so close now.' Other Avengers costars including Zoe Saldana and Robert Downey Jr., as well as Marvel Cinematic Universe directors Anthony Russo and Joseph Russo, also publicly supported Pratt at the time. Chris Pratt Defends Wife Katherine Schwarzenegger's Cousin RFK Jr.
Originally appeared on E! Online Chris Pratt has only positive feelings towards Robert F. Kennedy Jr. And while the Jurassic World star understands that there are controversies surrounding the politician's current role as United States Secretary of Health and Human Services, for his part, Chris views him simply as a member of wife Katherine Schwarzenegger's family. 'I've spent a number of occasions hanging with him,' he explained on the Aug. 18 episode of Bill Maher's Club Random podcast. 'In a strictly family dinner kind of vibe. And I really got along with him well.' The 46-year-old added about the first cousin of mother-in-law Maria Shriver, 'I think he's great. I think he's funny. I like him. I love him.' Still, Chris—who shares children Lyla, 5, Eloise, 3, and Ford, 9 months, with Katherine, as well as son Jack, 13, with ex Anna Farris—understands why Robert might be viewed differently, citing his own experience in Hollywood. 'Politics it's a nasty business,' the Parks and Recreation alum began. 'I'm not in politics, obviously, but there's a certain level to this in Hollywood, because Hollywood itself is a political institution. I've seen in Hollywood how the person you are can be such a contrast to the person that people being are told that you are, and you can go, 'Wow, that is pure fiction.'' More from E! I've seen in Hollywood how the person you are can be such a contrast to the person that people being are told that you are, and you can go, 'Wow, that is pure fiction.'' He further admitted that Robert, 71, being so closely associated with President Donald Trump has contributed to the controversy, and adding, 'When you jump on the bandwagon with who is the most divisive president ever, it makes sense that you're going to be made to look terrible.' However, when Chris spends time with Robert—whose dad Robert F. Kennedy was the younger brother of Maria's mom Eunice Kennedy —the two of them are 'just playing cards or Mafia or having fun or having dinner.' 'I'm not gonna pick his brain to find out exactly which of those things are true,' Chris continued. 'I just kind of assume that none of them are, and for the most part I wish him well.' Still, there are those within the Kennedy family who are less sympathetic to Robert, like another of his first cousins Caroline Kennedy, the daughter of late President John F. Kennedy. "I've known Bobby my whole life. We grew up together," Caroline said in a letter submitted to the Senate in January prior to his confirmation for the cabinet position. "It's no surprise that he keeps birds of prey as pets, because Bobby himself is a predator." The 67-year-old added, "I watched his younger brothers and cousins follow him down the path of drug addiction. His basement, his garage, his dorm room were always the center of the action where drugs were available.' Holding nothing back, the former Australian ambassador, whose son Jack Schlossberg has also criticized RFK Jr. online, emphasized that her "has gone on to misrepresent, lie and cheat his way through life today.' "While he may encourage a younger generation to attend AA meetings,' she continued, 'Bobby is addicted to attention and power." E! reached out to RFK Jr. for comment at the time but never heard back. 'Real Housewives' Star Diagnosed With Cancer Makes Heartbreaking Statement and Fans Are all Saying the Same Thing
'Real Housewives' Star Diagnosed With Cancer Makes Heartbreaking Statement and Fans Are all Saying the Same Thing originally appeared on Parade. Teddi Mellencamp opened up about her cancer journey during an interview on The Jamie Kern Lima Show. The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills star opened up about her alleged affair with a horse trainer and, while she didn't openly admit to stepping out on her then-husband Edwin Arroyave, she did say that she wonders if her diagnosis was "payback" for the choices she made. "I've never talked about it at all, just because of the kids, and I've never wanted anybody to have a, you know, a guarantee whether it happened or didn't happen, but what I can say is, did I do things that hurt other people? Yes," she admitted. "And I wonder if that's why it got cancer. Like it was my payback. Nothing goes without payment, I guess," Mellencamp, 44, added. More than 200 comments amassed on a Reddit thread about Mellencamp's karma comments and most fans disagree with the mom of three's thoughts, saying that no one "deserves" cancer. "She deserved to be divorced. No one deserves cancer. Even in some twisted world where you could 'deserve' cancer, her children don't deserve to see their mother like this," one person weighed in. "Life isn't about paybacks. We live, we learn, we grow. I feel terrible that she feels this is her 'karma,'" someone else said. "Lost my mom to cancer, she was 42, I was 15. She didn't do anything to deserve cancer, no one deserves to die with cancer. Poor teddy, I feel for her young kids so hard, I lived it, and even I was older than her kids. I can't imagine going thru it even younger. She has guilt, and looking for a reason why she got it, but this isn't it. There is no reason, unfortunately, it comes after anyone. I pray she can pull out of this some way, somehow," a third Redditor wrote. "Poor Teddi. My dad died last week after the prostate cancer he's had since 2010 metastasized to his brain. He was an exceptional person and a good man, and no mistake he ever made was the reason for any of this. I hope Teddi has enough people in her life reminding her that cancer doesn't discriminate, and she doesn't deserve it. I think how openly and aggressively she's fighting the disease is great, and I hope she beats it to a pulp. F*** cancer," a fourth comment was diagnosed with melanoma in 2023 and has openly shared her journey on social media and on her podcasts. In February 2025, she learned that the cancer had metastasized to her brain and, a month later, she revealed that she had tumors on her lungs. Mellencamp and Arroyave are separated, though they remain close and still live together. They co-parent their three kids, Slate, Cruz and Dove.
