ALBAWABA - Early reactions for James Gunn's Superman are in, and fans are speechless, with many going as far as saying that the upcoming movie, which marks a reboot to the DC Universe, is one of the best superhero movies to date.
Journalist Bryan Sudfield took to X (formerly known as Twitter) and wrote, "Superman soars with heart, humor, and style—a bold yet faithful take on the iconic hero. James Gunn sets a fresh tone while honoring the character's legacy, and David Corenswet shines with sincerity and strength. A promising, thrilling start to DC's new era."
This is the BEST #Superman movie to date. When James Gunn gets out of the way & lets his work speak for itself, it's incredible. 💙💛❤️It's not perfect, but darn close

Movie critic Erik Davis also wrote in a lengthy X post, "James Gunn's #Superman is the perfect superhero movie and a terrific start for the new DC Studios."
He added, "It's big, bright, exciting, full of hope & it never loses its sense of wonder. Watching it felt like ripping open a comic book & feasting on its wild, chaotic imagination. Loved it!"
Several others brought up the excellent performance of David Corenswet as Clark Kent. Brandon Davis wrote on X, "David Corenswet was born for Superman & Clark Kent. Loved it."

While most of the reception was positive, movie critic Peter Howell took jabs at James Gunn's newest venture into the cinema world, further stating that Superman prioritized style over substance and that it's "not the super start to the DC Universe everybody had been hoping for."
James Gunn told Deadline during an interview that the most anticipated movie is "lighter" in some ways, but will touch on heavy subjects as well. Gunn hopes to capture "the colour and the joy" of DC's face in his rendition.
The movie will hit cinema screens on July 11, just weeks before Marvel's The Fantastic Four: First Steps, which is scheduled for a July 25 release date.

Wrestling icon Hulk Hogan dies at 71, leaving legacy beyond the ring

ALBAWABA- Wrestling legend and global pop culture icon Hulk Hogan has died at the age of 71, marking the end of one of the most influential careers in professional wrestling history. Also Read Thai airstrikes kill 12 Cambodians in escalating border clash Born Terry Gene Bollea, Hogan passed away early Thursday morning at his home in Clearwater, Florida, following a cardiac arrest. Hogan rose to superstardom in the 1980s, transforming the landscape of professional wrestling with his charismatic presence, unmatched showmanship, and signature catchphrase. — I Meme Therefore I Am 🇺🇸 (@ImMeme0) July 24, 2025 Donning his iconic yellow and red attire, Hogan became the face of the World Wrestling Federation (WWF, now WWE) after joining in 1983. Under the direction of Vince McMahon, Hogan's all-American persona and raw strength helped launch wrestling from a niche regional sport into a global entertainment phenomenon. His 1984 championship victory over The Iron Sheik ignited the 'Hulkamania' craze, with Hogan holding the title for a then-record 1,474 days. Perhaps his most legendary moment came at WrestleMania III in 1987, where he body-slammed the 520-pound André the Giant before over 93,000 fans in what remains one of the most iconic events in wrestling history. In a bold career pivot, Hogan shocked fans in 1996 by turning heel and forming the New World Order (nWo) with Kevin Nash and Scott Hall in World Championship Wrestling (WCW). This move not only revitalized his career but helped usher in a new, edgier era of pro wrestling. Hogan would later be inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame twice, once individually in 2005 and again in 2020 as a member of nWo. Hogan's appeal extended well beyond the ring. He starred in Hollywood films like Rocky III (1982), No Holds Barred (1989), and Suburban Commando (1991). In the 2000s, he became a reality TV star with VH1's "Hogan Knows Best", which offered fans a glimpse into his family life and further cemented his status as a pop culture fixture. Hogan was married three times, most recently to Sky Daily in 2023. In 2015, he was removed from the WWE Hall of Fame after a leaked transcript revealed racist remarks. He later won a major lawsuit against Gawker Media for publishing a sex tape and was eventually reinstated into the Hall of Fame in 2020. Even in recent years, Hogan stayed active in public life. He appeared at the 2024 Republican National Convention, launched a new amateur wrestling league called Real American Freestyle, and continued to engage with fans and media. © 2000 - 2025 Al Bawaba (

'South Park' puts Trump in bed with Satan in Season 27 comeback

Published July 24th, 2025 - 07:38 GMT ALBAWABA - South Park Season 27 took the internet by storm after putting US President Donald Trump in bed with Satan in its premiere episode. This comes right after Comedy Central's animated series reached a reported $1.5 billion deal with Paramount+. The episode titled "Sermon on the 'Mount" depicted an angry Trump threatening to silence political opponents and media through lawsuits while simultaneously taking jabs at his comically minuscule genitalia. During the episode, Trump argued with the Canadian Prime Minister in the White House and asked him, "Why are you placing these new tariffs on Canada? What are you, some kind of dictator from the Middle East?" Trump added, "You don't want me to bomb you like I did Iraq!" To which the Canadian Prime Minister responded, "I thought you just bombed Iran?" The US President replied, "Iran, Iraq, what the hell's the difference? Relax, guy!" South Park kicked off Season 27 by putting Donald Trump in bed with Satan. Trump is going to lose his mind.😆 — Republicans against Trump (@RpsAgainstTrump) July 24, 2025 Later in the episode, the US President entered his room, stripped of his clothes, and cozied up to a comically drawn muscular Satan while asking for sexual intercourse. However, Satan turned him down, prompting a comedic sequence between the two. Trump said, "Come on, Satan. I've been working hard all day." To which Satan replied, "You haven't been working! You've been doing your stupid memes and just fu**ing around." Satan then mocked Trump's comically minuscule genitalia and said, "I can't even see anything, it's so small." According to Variety, South Park creators Trey Parker and Matt Stone have voiced their concerns for the new deal with Paramount+, after the show experienced a 2-week delay regarding its newest season. "This merger is a shit show and it's fucking up 'South Park.' We are at the studio working on new episodes, and we hope the fans get to see them somehow." © 2000 - 2025 Al Bawaba (

Stephen Colbert to Trump's reaction to 'The Late Show' cancelation: Go fu*k yourself

Published July 22nd, 2025 - 06:12 GMT ALBAWABA - The Late Show host Stephen Colbert, who was recently fired by CBS due to a "financial decision," took the internet by storm after responding to Trump's reaction on Truth Social. On Friday, US President Donald Trump took to Truth Social and wrote, bashing Colbert, "I absolutely love that Colbert got fired. His talent was even less than his ratings." He added, "I hear Jimmy Kimmel is next. He has even less talent than Colbert! Greg Gutfeld is better than all of them combined, including the Moron on NBC who ruined the once great Tonight Show." — Pop Base (@PopBase) July 22, 2025 In response, Stephen Colbert appeared on TV, slammed Trump's comments and said, "How dare you, sir?' Colbert responded to Trump. 'Would an 'untalented' man be able to compose the following satirical witticism?" The Late Show host added while an "Elequince Cam" panned to him, "Go fu*k yourself." His witty response was met with applause and cheers from the audience. His response sparked a wide variety of reactions, with many praising Colbert for not stepping down on his political views about Trump. "LMAOOOO i mean what does he have to lose. i would do this too." While CBS claims that firing Colbert was "purely a financial decision," speculations from fans flooded social media with claims that the television network pulled the plug on Colbert due to his criticisms towards US President Donald Trump. © 2000 - 2025 Al Bawaba (
