ALBAWABA - Early reactions for James Gunn's Superman are in, and fans are speechless, with many going as far as saying that the upcoming movie, which marks a reboot to the DC Universe, is one of the best superhero movies to date.
Journalist Bryan Sudfield took to X (formerly known as Twitter) and wrote, "Superman soars with heart, humor, and style—a bold yet faithful take on the iconic hero. James Gunn sets a fresh tone while honoring the character's legacy, and David Corenswet shines with sincerity and strength. A promising, thrilling start to DC's new era."

Movie critic Erik Davis also wrote in a lengthy X post, "James Gunn's #Superman is the perfect superhero movie and a terrific start for the new DC Studios."
He added, "It's big, bright, exciting, full of hope & it never loses its sense of wonder. Watching it felt like ripping open a comic book & feasting on its wild, chaotic imagination. Loved it!"
Several others brought up the excellent performance of David Corenswet as Clark Kent. Brandon Davis wrote on X, "David Corenswet was born for Superman & Clark Kent. Loved it."

While most of the reception was positive, movie critic Peter Howell took jabs at James Gunn's newest venture into the cinema world, further stating that Superman prioritized style over substance and that it's "not the super start to the DC Universe everybody had been hoping for."
James Gunn told Deadline during an interview that the most anticipated movie is "lighter" in some ways, but will touch on heavy subjects as well. Gunn hopes to capture "the colour and the joy" of DC's face in his rendition.
The movie will hit cinema screens on July 11, just weeks before Marvel's The Fantastic Four: First Steps, which is scheduled for a July 25 release date.
