Kazakhstan holds key to Celtic transfer cash
It's been clear for a while now Celtic are reverting to a previous model when it comes to sanctioning a big transfer the recent past, when they've not been guaranteed Champions League football, they've opted to see whether the existing squad is good enough to navigate the qualifiers before other words, make the group phase, Brendan, and then we'll loosen the purse strings manager has been asking for quality signings for quite a while. He still doesn't have them in the forward areas and while deals are there in the background waiting to be done, Celtic won't give the green light until they know what kind of revenue is coming in. Champions League level or Europa League?Which means it all boils down to Kazakhstan and a trip to face Kairat Almaty a week on Tuesday. Before then, of course, the Scottish champions will hope to have bagged a few goals in the home leg to give themselves some comfort and stakes could not be higher. It's quite the gamble to wait until the last few days of the transfer window to make your can be done, of course, but prices tend to inflate at that late stage. Witness the £26m outlay roughly this time last year for Adam Idah, Arne Engels and Auston Trusty. Two of whom were on the bench for Celtic's first two league matches while striker Idah is yet to get off the mark this board is either trusting – or gambling – that the current crop of players, minus the departed Kyogo Furuhashi, Nicolas Kuhn and Greg Taylor plus the injured Jota, are good enough to get the job done against the Kazakh extra nous Brendan Rodgers and his men learned through last season's league phase campaign should stand them in good is not, however, the same team, either in personnel or form. The levels reached away to Bayern Munich were a peak from which the side has had a natural drop-off. The manager has pretty much admitted the only way to get back to those levels is to spend money on a striker and a winger at the bare minimum. The kind of money available to him will be determined by the outcome of this play-off. Over to you then, Brendan.

Siegrist makes claim about Celtic board & 'internal' issues
Brought in by Ange Postecoglou in the summer of 2022, after Rodgers came in the door a year later, he told Siegrist that he wasn't in his plans. As a result, the 33-year-old wanted to depart. "I had an offer from a team that I was willing to go to," said Siegrist on The Bondi Podcast. "They said yes initially, then they changed their mind. Then I was stuck with the transfer window shutting. "I felt like I needed to play to get my confidence back. "In January... I had another team going for a league in another country, a top division, playing European football. I was on holiday, actually. Everything was agreed. Then I found out that Celtic hadn't responded to that team in four weeks. "I did everything, pushed everything. I spoke to Stevie [Woods]. He said, 'In January, you can go'. "I spoke to the new team, spoke to everyone. It was a done deal. I was ready to pack up. "Some people on the Celtic board just didn't respond to any of the enquiries from the other team." When asked why the board went silent over a move, Siegrist simply replied, "Good question." "There was never a problem between me and Brendan Rodgers," the goalkeeper continued. "It was always very respectful. But there were things going on internally. "The message I got from the manager wasn't the same that I got from the board. "That was very frustrating because all I wanted to do was play. I was denied that opportunity twice. It felt like a lost year. "It wasn't right the way it was handled. "It just felt like a kick in the teeth." Siegrist now plays his football for Genoa. He is on loan at the Serie A club from FC Rapid of Romania.

Winger linked with Celtic completes €5m Eredivisie transfer
The Parkhead club have been mentioned as a potential suitor for the winger in the past two transfer windows. Celtic reportedly opened talks to sign Orjasaeter in June after a January move failed, although he has now completed a switch to the Eredivisie. According to Dutch outlet De Telegraaf, Twente have shelled out €5 million plus bonuses on his services. Read more: "I've already had a lot of good impressions of FC Twente," Orjasaeter told after joining the club on a four-year deal. "I'd heard a lot about the club and the supporters beforehand. "I'm looking forward to playing here in this fantastic stadium in front of so many supporters in such an atmosphere. This is also a big transfer for me, the first step in my career abroad. When you get an opportunity like this and the timing and the club are right, you have to seize it and go for it." Twente manager Jan Streuer said: "We are delighted to welcome Sondre Orjasaeter to the club. Sondre is a very talented player whom we have been following in Norway for some time. "He is an intelligent winger with great individual qualities. He will give us something extra. To make this transfer possible, the club has made an extra effort, including financially. "This underscores the confidence we have in him. Sondre is still young, is now making his first move abroad, and will find his feet at FC Twente in the coming period. We will give him that time."
