Under the patronage of Mansour bin Zayed, Abu Dhabi to host inaugural Governance of Emerging Technologies Summit (GETS 2025)
ABU DHABI (WAM) Under the esteemed patronage of His Highness Sheikh Mansour bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Vice President, Deputy Prime Minister, and Chairman of the Presidential Court, Abu Dhabi is set to host the inaugural Governance of Emerging Technologies Summit (GETS 2025) on May 5–6 at the St. Regis Saadiyat Island Resort.Organised by the Advanced Technology Research Council (ATRC) in strategic partnership with the UAE Public Prosecution, this landmark event aims to shape the future of technology governance on a global scale.GETS 2025 arrives at a pivotal moment as the world grapples with rapid advancements in artificial intelligence (AI), quantum computing, and Web3 technologies.The summit seeks to establish robust governance frameworks that balance innovation with the protection of societal rights, bringing together over 500 leaders from government, industry, academia, and civil society to foster inclusive dialogue and collaborative solutions.Faisal Al Bannai, Advisor to the UAE President for Strategic Research and Advanced Technology Affairs and Secretary-General of ATRC, emphasised the summit's significance: 'Innovation without ambitious governance lacks sustainability. Through GETS 2025, the UAE reaffirms its belief that technological leadership must be coupled with ethical and inclusive policies that build trust and advance global human progress.'Echoing this sentiment, Chancellor Dr. Hamad Saif Al Shamsi, UAE Attorney General, stated, 'Amidst the global technological surge, we bear the responsibility of constructing a smart judicial system capable of safeguarding rights and ensuring justice. GETS 2025 presents an opportunity to reaffirm our commitment to developing responsive legislation and innovative governance that support societal advancement and uphold human dignity in the digital age.'Dr. Sultan bin Saif Al Neyadi, Minister of State for Youth Affairs, highlighted the role of youth in shaping technological governance: "The future of technology governance should be crafted by minds attuned to its evolution. UAE serves as model in advancing women's leadership
20 Aug 2025 14:56 DUBAI (WAM) The UAE has developed a comprehensive framework for women's empowerment, adopting a systematic approach to address challenges, expand opportunities and prepare women for leadership across multiple sectors. These efforts have strengthened the country's competitiveness regionally and entities, such as the UAE Gender Balance Council and Dubai Women Establishment, have contributed significantly to developing Emirati women's leadership capacities and facilitating their advancement to senior posts in both the public and private sectors, in cooperation with leading international Mohammed Al Ghuwais Al Suwaidi, Secretary-General of the UAE Gender Balance Council, said that the Council is intensifying efforts to increase women's participation in the private sector and raise their representation in leadership positions. This, she said, is being achieved through strategies and initiatives aimed at creating inclusive and balanced workplaces, in partnership with strategic stakeholders from both public and private highlighted that a number of national and international companies operating in the UAE have joined the 'SDG 5 Pledge to Accelerate Women's Leadership in the UAE Private Sector'. These companies have voluntarily committed to raising women's representation in middle and senior management roles to at least 30 per cent by 2025 for the first group, and by 2028 for the second group of companies that have recently joined the UAE Gender Balance Council Strategy 2026 aims to further reduce the gender gap across all sectors, enhance the UAE's ranking in global competitiveness reports on gender equality and achieve gender balance in decision-making positions, as well as promote the UAE's status as a benchmark for gender balance this context, the UAE ranked first regionally and 13th globally in the 2025 Gender Inequality Index published by the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP).Naeema Ahli, CEO of Dubai Women Establishment, said that advancing Emirati women's leadership remains one of the organisation's key priorities. She noted that the Establishment continues to design and implement advanced training programmes to build leadership skills for women across sectors, while also preparing them for senior roles in international organisations through specialised programmes developed with global institutions and universities with expertise in executive and leadership education. She added that these programmes aim not only to provide women with modern leadership knowledge and skills, but also to strengthen their understanding of leadership dynamics in changing work environments and build their confidence in decision-making roles.

UAE President confers First-Class Medal of Independence on Ukraine Ambassador
UAE President His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan has conferred the First-Class Medal of Independence on the Ambassador of Ukraine to the UAE Dmytro Sinyk. The medal was presented by Reem bint Ibrahim Al Hashimy, the Minister of State for International Cooperation during a meeting held at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. Al Hashimy commended the prominent role played by the Ambassador in strengthening bilateral relations, particularly the signing of the Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement between the two countries in February 2025, wishing him success in his future endeavors. For his part, the Ambassador expressed his pride in this honor, which embodies the depth and strength of the friendly and cooperative relations between the two countries. He extended his deepest thanks and appreciation to the UAE President for bestowing this medal upon him. He also praised the wise policies of the UAE leadership and the achievements of the country at various levels.
