Dhanashree Verma Addresses "Fake Marriage" Rumours After Divorce With Yuzvendra Chahal

Dhanashree Verma, the ex-wife of Indian cricketer Yuzvendra Chahal, has reacted to the accusations of faking her marriage. This comes almost a month after Chahal, during a conversation with Raj Shamani, broke his silence over divorce from Dhanashree. After 18 months of living separately, Chahal and Dhanashree officially parted ways on March 20, 2025. According to reports, the cricketer paid Rs 4.75 crore as alimony to Dhanashree. Speaking to Humans of Bombay, Dhanashree addressed her personal life and the rumors surrounding a "fake marriage". "There is a reason why we say 'personal life'. It has to be private. And look, a coin has two sides. Taali ek haath se to bajti nahi (You can't clap with one hand). Just because I am not speaking it doesn't give anyone the power to take advantage of that. It is not correct. I think it should not happen with anybody," said Dhanashree. Dhanashree added that while she has her side of the story and could share it in the future, she is currently focused on her career. "If you want to achieve great things, you don't have to address it again and again. I do have a lot to speak about it, I have my side of my story, do I want to delve into that? No. Do I wish to delve into that? Maybe, in the future," she added. Chahal and Dhanashree Verma in March this year were granted the decree of divorce by the Mumbai family court. The couple tied the knot in December 2020. As per their petition, they separated in June 2022. On February 5, they filed a joint petition before the family court seeking divorce by mutual consent. The Bombay High Court in March requested the family court to decide the divorce plea. The high court also waived the six-month cooling period stipulated for every couple after filing of the divorce plea under the Hindu Marriage Act. Chahal and Verma had filed a joint petition before the high court, seeking that the cooling-off period be waived in their case as they applied for divorce by mutual consent. The petition had also prayed for a direction to the family court to decide the divorce petition expeditiously.

India to outlaw online money games, govt nod cites suicides, addiction reasons

The draft law of the Promotion and Regulation of Online Gaming Bill, 2025, proposes to prohibit platforms or games where users pay money in exchange for higher monetary returns The government will table a legislation to ban online money gaming in the Parliament on Wednesday, after users, especially children and young adults, were found to be addicted to such platforms. The draft law of the Promotion and Regulation of Online Gaming Bill, 2025, proposes to prohibit platforms or games where users pay money in exchange for higher monetary returns. The Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY) said, 'The immersive and addictive nature of online games, particularly with monetary incentives, has led to significant mental health issues among users — especially children, adolescents and young adults.' STORY CONTINUES BELOW THIS AD 'Clinical evidence and field studies have shown a rise in anxiety, depression, sleep disorders, and behavioural problems linked to prolonged gaming,' the ministry added in the draft law. Anyone caught offering or enabling online money games may face up to three years in prison, a fine of up to Rs 1 crore, or both. Repeat violations carry stricter mandatory penalties. Promoting or advertising these platforms is also a criminal offence, punishable by up to two years of imprisonment, a fine of up to Rs 50 lakh, or both. Online gaming spans a wide range, from casual mobile games and educational apps to real-money fantasy sports and poker platforms. Several states have focused on the latter, invoking their constitutional power to regulate gambling and betting. Endorsements by top Indian cricketers and other marketing efforts have boosted the appeal and investor interest of real money gaming apps such as the popular fantasy cricket games operated by startups Dream11 and Mobile Premier League. India currently does not have a federal legislation to regulate online gaming. However, some states have rules of their own, like those of Tamil Nadu, Karnataka and Andhra Pradesh, which have banned online gaming. While states like Sikkim and Nagaland have made it mandatory for operators to register themselves with the government before making their platforms live.
