Sask. RCMP searching after man flees traffic stop in Lampman

CTV Newsa day ago
Estevan RCMP are asking the public to be on the lookout for a suspect – after a driver fled police during an attempted traffic stop in the province's southeast.
On Aug. 2, at around 7:45 p.m., officers with the Estevan RCMP detachment were on proactive patrols in the town of Lampman – located around 43 kilometres north of Estevan.
While driving, officers witnessed a truck make a high-speed turn onto the community's Main Street. Officers activated their lights and attempted to pull the vehicle over.
However, the driver did not stop and instead fled the area at a very high rate of speed – failing to follow the rules of the road and several marked traffic signs.
As a result of the investigation, Mitchel Buckle of the Rural Municipality (RM) of Rockwood, Man. is charged with fleeing from a peace officer and dangerous operation of a motor vehicle.
A warrant has been issued for Buckle's arrest and police ask residents to report sightings or information on his whereabouts.
Buckle is described as five feet, 11 inches tall, weighing 180 pounds, with blue eyes and brown buzz cut. He has a woman's face with a mask tattooed on his upper right arm and a scythe on his left hand.
Buckle is wanted on warrants from the Estevan Police Service as well as the Winnipeg Police Service.
Anyone with information on Buckle's whereabouts are encouraged to contact police or Crime Stoppers.

Montreal police arrest suspect after Jewish father beaten in front of his children in park

A screenshot of a video showing a suspect during an assault on a man in front of his children in Dickie Moore Park on Friday, Aug. 8, 2025. (Source: X/Mayer Feig) Montreal police say they have arrested a suspect in connection with an assault on a father who was with his three children in a park last week. A video posted on X showed part of the altercation as a man repeatedly punches another man with children standing nearby in Dickie Moore Park, in the city's Villeray–Saint-Michel–Parc-Extension borough, on Friday afternoon. According to police, the victim, a 32-year-old man, went to the park with his kids and was approached by a suspect who sprayed him with the contents of his water bottle. Police added that victim then attempted to approach the suspect, who then pushed the man to the ground 'and punched him several times in the face and kicked him.' The suspect fled on foot at around 2:26 p.m. on Beaumont Avenue before officers arrived on scene. Montreal police said the 24-year-old suspect was arrested Monday by the North Regional Investigation Section and is being questioned by investigators. No charges have yet been laid. The attack on the victim, an Orthodox Jewish man, was widely condemned by Montreal's Jewish community. Jean-Pierre Brabant, a spokesperson for the SPVM, said the assault has not been classified as a hate crime and the hate crime unit is not leading the investigation, which is still ongoing. 'The SPVM spared no effort in locating the suspect and is continuing its investigation to shed light on the circumstances surrounding this criminal act,' the police force said in a news release. 'The SPVM would like to thank the citizens who contributed to this outcome by providing information that helped locate the suspect.' Several political leaders also condemned the assault, including Prime Minister Mark Carney, who called it 'an appalling act of violence.' Montreal Mayor Valérie Plante and Quebec Premier François Legault also expressed their sympathies with the victim.
