Sask. RCMP searching after man flees traffic stop in Lampman
Estevan RCMP are asking the public to be on the lookout for a suspect – after a driver fled police during an attempted traffic stop in the province's southeast.
On Aug. 2, at around 7:45 p.m., officers with the Estevan RCMP detachment were on proactive patrols in the town of Lampman – located around 43 kilometres north of Estevan.
While driving, officers witnessed a truck make a high-speed turn onto the community's Main Street. Officers activated their lights and attempted to pull the vehicle over.
However, the driver did not stop and instead fled the area at a very high rate of speed – failing to follow the rules of the road and several marked traffic signs.
As a result of the investigation, Mitchel Buckle of the Rural Municipality (RM) of Rockwood, Man. is charged with fleeing from a peace officer and dangerous operation of a motor vehicle.
A warrant has been issued for Buckle's arrest and police ask residents to report sightings or information on his whereabouts.
Buckle is described as five feet, 11 inches tall, weighing 180 pounds, with blue eyes and brown buzz cut. He has a woman's face with a mask tattooed on his upper right arm and a scythe on his left hand.
Buckle is wanted on warrants from the Estevan Police Service as well as the Winnipeg Police Service.
