Moral Education Essential For Developed India: Nayab Saini
Saini was addressing the Smart Class Expansion Program, organised by the Sampark Foundation and the Education Department in Ladwa, Kurukshetra district on Wednesday.
Earlier, Saini launched a Smart Television (TV) Education Project from Ladwa.
The Sampark Foundation has provided Sampark TV Boxes in 7,000 state schools, he said. The package includes digital versions of Haryana board textbooks, videos, worksheets, and assessment modules.
A total of 1,485 schools have been equipped with LED TVs, the chief minister said.
As many as 132 schools of Ladwa and Babain blocks have been developed as 'smart classes' with such TVs, he said.
Saini said that education is not just confined to bookish knowledge but is a powerful medium that shapes the future of individuals, society, and the nation.
He said Atal Tinkering Labs have been set up in all 22 districts of the state, and more than 5,000 schools have been provided with Wi-Fi connectivity. Sampark Foundation founder Vineet Nayar said his foundation aims to create curiosity for learning among children and focus on the application of knowledge.
At another event in Ladwa, Saini said the government has set a target to install solar panels on one lakh houses this year.
He said a team of officers will visit every village for the project under the Pradhan Mantri Muft Bijli Yojana.
Families with an annual income below Rs. 1.80 lakh will be provided with a 2 kilo Watt (kW) solar panel under the scheme. Out of the total cost, Rs 70,000 will be borne by the central government and the remaining by the state government, he said.
He also said households with solar panels will not have to pay any electricity bills.
Saini also said a sum of Rs 1,334 crore has been transferred to the accounts of farmers who suffered damage to their crops due to the recent rain.

New Delhi: India on Saturday got the first animal stem cell biobank and animal stem cell laboratory that will focus on regenerative medicine and therapies for livestock. Inaugurated by Union Minister of State (Independent Charge) Science & Technology, Dr. Jitendra Singh, the biobank and lab is situated at the National Institute of Animal Biotechnology (NIAB), Hyderabad. The cutting-edge facility of Animal BioBank is spread over 9,300 sq ft and has been constructed at a cost of RS 1.85 crore. The laboratory is equipped with a stem cell culture unit, 3D bioprinter, bacterial culture lab, cryostorage, autoclave rooms, advanced air handling systems, and uninterrupted power backup. It will advance research in disease modelling, tissue engineering, and reproductive biotechnology. With support from the National Biopharma Mission (NBM) of DBT–BIRAC, the facility will be expanded to enable biobanking of animal stem cells and their derivatives. 'We had such facilities for human stem cells, but hardly any for animal cells. The best of NIAB, and the best of Indian biotechnology, is yet to come,' Singh said, adding that these facilities will contribute "to making India future-ready". 'We will not lag behind when the next industrial revolution—driven by biotechnology—takes over. The economy will shift from manufacturing to regenerative and genetic processes, and India has already initiated this transition,' he added. The Minister also laid the foundation stone of a new hostel block and Type-IV quarters at NIAB, approved by the Department of Biotechnology at a total cost of Rs 19.98 crore. The infrastructure will cater to the needs of research scholars, faculty, and staff, fostering a vibrant academic and innovation ecosystem. In addition, Singh launched innovative veterinary diagnostic tools designed to revolutionise animal health management and support the 'One Health' approach. These include a field-deployable, DIVA-capable diagnostic kit for early and accurate detection of Brucella species; a cost-effective on-site diagnostic assay for subclinical and clinical mastitis in dairy cattle; a portable antimicrobial sensitivity testing device providing results within two hours to promote responsible antibiotic use; a sensitive and specific test for Toxoplasma gondii infection in animals; an indigenously developed rapid strip for large-scale surveillance of Japanese Encephalitis in animals and humans. 'These innovations will boost agriculture-linked GDP, enhance livestock productivity, and pave the way for an 'Evergreen Revolution' in the animal husbandry sector,' the Minister emphasised. On the agricultural front, 'these releases mark a new phase of animal-based agricultural productivity -- an 'Evergreen Revolution'. With 18 per cent of GDP from agriculture and 60 per cent of our workforce depending on it, innovations in veterinary health will have a transformative impact,' he said. 'One rupee spent on agricultural research yields a return of Rs 13, and linking industry partners from day one ensures these technologies reach the ground,' Singh added.

'Vote theft' row: After Rahul Gandhi's charge, Sharad Pawar says he was offered 160 'guaranteed' seats before Maharashtra polls
NEW DELHI: Nationalist Congress Party (SP) chief Sharad Pawar on Saturday claimed that two individuals approached him ahead of the 2024 Maharashtra Assembly elections, promising 160 out of 288 seats. The revelation comes as Congress leader Rahul Gandhi intensifies allegations of large-scale electoral malpractice involving the Election Commission (EC) and the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP). 'I remember that before the Maharashtra Assembly elections were announced, two people came to meet me in Delhi... They told me that out of 288 seats in Maharashtra, we guarantee you 160 seats. I was surprised, to be honest, I had no doubts about the Election Commission,' Pawar told reporters in Nagpur. Pawar said he later arranged a meeting between the two individuals and Rahul Gandhi. 'Whatever they wanted to say, they said in front of Rahul Gandhi. But Rahul Gandhi and I were of the opinion that we should not pay attention to this; this is not our path,' he added. The claim adds weight to Rahul Gandhi's repeated accusations of 'vote chori' (vote theft). At an August 7 press conference, Gandhi alleged that the 2024 Lok Sabha elections were 'choreographed' by the EC to benefit the BJP. He cited Maharashtra and Karnataka as examples, alleging unexplained spikes in voter turnout and irregularities in the electoral rolls. 'In Maharashtra and Haryana, we saw it right in front of our faces… More voters were added in five months than in five years in Maharashtra… Huge jump in voter turnout after 5 pm,' Gandhi said, adding that the Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA) alliance 'got wiped out' in the Assembly polls despite a stronger showing in the Lok Sabha elections. The Congress leader claimed that in some constituencies, more voters were added than the entire population of Maharashtra, and accused the EC of refusing to share voter lists or CCTV footage requested by the opposition.
