has firmly cemented his legacy as one of golf's modern greats. The 29-year-old, currently ranked world number one, clinched his fourth major title and third leg of the career Grand Slam on Sunday, July 20, winning the
2025 Open Championship
at Royal Portrush by four strokes.
Scheffler carded a final-round 68 to finish at 17-under 267. The win adds to his dominant year, having already secured the 2025 PGA Championship by five shots. With victories at The Masters (2022, 2024), the PGA, and now The Open, he only lacks the US Open to complete the coveted Grand Slam.

Who is Scottie Scheffler?
Scheffler was born in Ridgewood, New Jersey, on June 21, 1996. His family moved to Dallas after 9/11, where his golf journey began. His father, a carpenter-turned-stay-at-home dad, and his mother, a law firm executive, supported his early passion.
By age nine, Scheffler was challenging pros at Royal Oaks Country Club in Dallas. He went on to dominate the Northern Texas junior circuit, winning 90 out of 136 tournaments. He also clinched the 2013 US Junior Amateur and was ranked the No. 1 junior golfer in 2014.
He played college golf for the Texas Longhorns and was named the 2015 Phil Mickelson Freshman of the Year. Despite battling back injuries, he qualified for the US Open twice as an amateur and finished as the low amateur in 2017.
Personal life
Scheffler married his high school sweetheart, Meredith Scudder, in 2020. They had their first child, Bennett, in 2024 and live in Dallas. Scheffler is open about his Christian faith and attends Park Cities Presbyterian Church. He often studies the Bible with his caddie, Ted Scott.
The golfer is also active in philanthropy. He supports the Triumph Over Kid Cancer Foundation, which honors a childhood friend who passed away. In 2024, he auctioned off his car to raise funds for the cause.
Scheffler has built a clean, disciplined public image. He made headlines in May 2024 after being briefly arrested before the PGA Championship, but all charges were later dropped. Authorities confirmed it was a misunderstanding.
A fan of the Dallas Stars and the Texas Rangers
Away from golf, he is a fan of the Dallas Stars and Texas Rangers. He even threw the ceremonial first pitch at a Rangers game in 2022, wearing his Masters green jacket.
Scheffler also appeared in the Netflix sports documentary Full Swing and made a cameo in Happy Gilmore 2. In 2023, he became a co-owner of a pickleball team, the Texas Ranchers.
With three legs of the Grand Slam secured and unmatched form, Scottie Scheffler now eyes the U.S. Open to complete the rarest achievement in golf. For his peers, like Rory McIlroy and Xander Schauffele, the message is clear: Scheffler is the standard they are chasing.
'His bad shots are really good,' said fellow golfer Shane Lowry. 'That's when you know he's special.'
How much prize money has Scottie Scheffler earned in 2025?
Scheffler's jaw-dropping 2025 haul stands at $19.2 million in prize money alone, following his Open Championship win at Royal Portrush. While that figure is shy of his record-setting $62.2 million in 2024, it still places him far ahead of most of his peers this season.
The Texan's career earnings on the
PGA Tour
have now soared to nearly $88 million, making him the third-highest earner of all time, behind only Tiger Woods and Rory McIlroy.
At his current pace, Scheffler is on track to break the $100 million mark by mid-2026, joining an elite club that speaks volumes about his consistency, dominance, and staying power in the modern era of golf.

Crumbling 4-room Ayodhya school gets PCI nod in 8 min: CBI

Ahmedabad: In what the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has called a "premeditated abuse of regulatory processes", a ramshackle four-room primary school in Ayodhya was approved to run a pharmacy college after an online inspection that lasted barely eight minutes. The inspection, conducted via Zoom on July 3, 2023, forms a central piece of evidence in the corruption probe against Pharmacy Council of India (PCI) president Dr Montu Kumar Patel and others. According to the preliminary enquiry triggered by a complaint from the Union ministry of health and family welfare, the PCI replaced physical site inspections with online inspections from April 2023. The CBI's findings revealed that the virtual inspection of the Ayodhya school was conducted without the principal being present, and the institute's infrastructure was even flagged as "non-compliant". Yet, the PCI allowed the institution five days to file an affidavit of compliance, and just two months later, on Sep 6, 2023, the PCI's executive committee, chaired by Dr Patel, formally approved the institute to offer a diploma in pharmacy, revealed the CBI documents. CBI officers traced nearly Rs 10 lakh in cash and Rs 95,000 via three separate bank transfers to a local primary school teacher, who was tasked with managing the inspection, preparing documentation, and securing PCI approval. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like Villa Prices in Dubai Might Be Lower Than You Think! When CBI investigators finally visited the institute, they found it to be nothing more than a dilapidated four-room school with no faculty, no infrastructure, and no students, and clearly unfit to function as a pharmacy college. The Ayodhya case is just one among at least 23 similar approvals uncovered by the CBI across Uttar Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh, Gujarat, and Rajasthan. In all these cases, pharmacy colleges were sanctioned despite falling short of the mandatory standards. On June 30, 2025, the CBI registered a regular FIR under IPC Sections 120 B (criminal conspiracy) and 420 (cheating), and Sections 7, 7A, and 8 of the amended Prevention of Corruption Act.

EA Sports FC 26 major gameplay change teased: Here's what it means for players

Representative Image Developers for EA Sports FC 26 have revealed a new gameplay system that will split the game into two distinct presets: "Competitive" and "Authentic." This aims to cater to different player preferences in the latest instalment of the annual football game series. The Competitive preset is designed with a focus on online modes, offering increased responsiveness and a higher degree of player control. Meanwhile, the Authentic preset is for enhanced realism and a true-to-life match tempo, resembling real football games, making it suitable for single-player modes. EA Sports FC 26 gets new gameplay modes: How they work In a recent YouTube video, developers of EA Sports FC 26 shared that they have made several adjustments to gameplay elements such as dribbling, pace, passing, tackling, goalkeeping, and physicality, based on community feedback. These changes were highlighted in the reveal trailer, with additional details released later. The Competitive setting will be mandatory in modes like Ultimate Team, while it remains optional in Career mode—where Authentic is set as the default. Players will also be able to manually tweak sliders to alter gameplay dynamics. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like Elevate Business Writing With This Desktop App Grammarly Learn More Undo EA SPORTS FC 26 | Official Gameplay Deep Dive Dynamic dribbling has been added to enhance responsiveness and fluidity. FIDE Women's World Cup: Divya Deshmukh creates history, qualifies for Candidates tournament

Divya Deshmukh is the first-ever Indian woman to advance to a FIDE Women's World Cup Final (Image via X/@ChessbaseIndia) International Master (IM) Divya Deshmukh scripted history on Wednesday by storming into the final of the FIDE Women's World Chess Cup, defeating former world champion Zhongyi Tan of China. With this win, Divya also became the first Indian ever to qualify for the Women's Candidates tournament, which will decide the next challenger for world champion Wenjun Ju. Divya won the second game of the semi-final to seal the mini-match 1.5-0.5. It was another stunning performance from the 19-year-old, who has already knocked out second seed Zoner Jhu of China and compatriot Grandmaster D Harika in earlier rounds. Playing with white pieces against Tan, Divya opted for the Alapin variation in the Sicilian Defence and showed her sharp positional understanding. A well-timed exchange of bishops for knights led to a favourable endgame with an extra pawn. Although Tan had chances in the middle game, the former world champion lost her grip on the position. As the game progressed, Divya emerged with two extra pawns and an outside passed pawn. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like These Are The Most Beautiful Women In The World Undo However, the match saw several twists before she eventually clinched it after a 101-move battle. Playing white against the Slav Defence, Humpy went for the exchange variation. The game saw early queen exchanges and Humpy managed to get a bishop pair against Lei's knights. Despite having an extra pawn in a rook and pawn endgame, the position remained balanced, and the game ended in a draw after 75 moves.
