Pink Seasalt, Kazdoura & Tusmørke to Play CJC Agouza April 17th
An eclectic collision of 70s prog-psych, alt rock, and Levantine music all in one night.
Cairo-born indie rock rouser Pink Seasalt, Toronto-based Arabic duo Kazdoura, and Norwegian psychedelic prog-rock outfit, Tusmørke, will be taking over Cairo Jazz Club, Agouza, with a Thursday night live show on April 17th.
A guitarist, music producer and songwriter, Mahmoud Hafez, aka Pink Seasalt, is a one-man band known for crafting soulful and carefree jams, a sweet blend of 60s psychedelic, alt rock, neo soul and folk, all wrapped in groovy funky basslines. Think Mac DeMarco, Tame Impala and Unknown Orchestra in one.
Pink Seasalt will be joined on stage by Kazdoura, who will be showcasing their debut album 'Ghoyoum', a contemplative 10-track project rooted in Levantine music, exploring themes of displacement and mental illness through a fusion of Arabic maqams with psychedelia, jazz and dream pop elements.
The night will also feature Tusmørke, a psychedelic, progressive folk-rock outfit hailing from Skien, Norway, making their Cairo debut. Regarded as one of the most mysterious bands in the Norwegian alternative scene, Tusmørke is known for its dark, intense, and almost primeval, cauldron of musical potions. It takes its sonic cues from 60s and 70s prog-psych luminaries such as Gong and Caravan, and acid-leaning folksters like The Incredible String band with a generous dose of nordic folk music and influences from the golden age of Egyptian and Lebanese music.

The programs will be implemented across four international destinations, underscoring the Commission's commitment to professional development, global connectivity, fostering cross-cultural dialogue. The first program, in collaboration with the British Council Scotland will take place in Scotland (22 -27 September 2025) . Additional programs will be held in Japan (31 October – 7 November 2025), South Korea (19–27 November 2025), and Spain (2–9 March 2026). Applications for these three programs will open on the 13th of August 2025. The application window for Japan will close on the 21st of August 2025, while applications for South Korea and Spain will remain open until the 31st of August 2025. Each Art Bridges program is tailored to the distinctive cultural and creative context of its destination, incorporating engagement with thought-leaders, leading cultural centers, museums, galleries, and artists' studios. Participants will engage in workshops, knowledge-sharing sessions, and dialogues with prominent figures from the local art scenes, fostering meaningful exchange and strengthening professional expertise. Thematic focuses for the 2025–2026 programs include: Japan — Art and the Environment : Exploring how artists and art practitioners respond to natural, urban, and traditional surroundings through material, scale, and site. : Exploring how artists and art practitioners respond to natural, urban, and traditional surroundings through material, scale, and site. Farhot Samples Arabic & Somali Classics in Downtempo EP ‘Raqs'
The acclaimed Afghan producer steps outside his comfort zone to explore the musical heritage of Arabic-speaking regions. Aug 14, 2025 Afghan-born producer Farhot has been a Deutschrap staple since the mid-2000s, known for his unruly productions that celebrate his heritage through a collage of vocal samples and diasporic sounds. His latest offering, 'Raqs', Farhot steps outside his comfort zone to explore the musical heritage of mostly Arabic-speaking regions from North Africa to West Asia and East Africa. He samples classics and traditional sounds from Egypt, Lebanon and Somalia, crafting complex and playful productions that are still imbued with his sonic signature, particularly his unconventional approach to chopping and distorting vocals. Built for the dancefloor, the five-track EP is a chillout groove that almost serves as a scattershot homage to rich and diverse musical traditions across the region. On 'Hooyoo', Farhot linked up with German record producer Siriusmo, flipping Somali traditional dance melodies into a bouncy afro-house cut, while 'Yana', featuring Daniel Kimaz, samples the chorus of Sabah's 'Yana Yana' into a hybrid of classical compositions, rattling drum loops, and ambient textures. Meanwhile, Fairuz's 'Al Quds' appears drastically different, dressed in almost experimental uptempo productions.
