CeeDee Lamb: I'm a dominant receiver and will remind you of that this year
He did not have a 100-yard game in the Cowboys' first six games and averaged five catches for 78 yards with two touchdowns in that span.
Lamb acknowledged the obvious Wednesday: His slow start came because he didn't get reps with quarterback Dak Prescott last summer.
'At first, I didn't, I didn't believe it, but obviously I was a little oblivious to the truth,' Lamb said, via Tommy Yarrish of the team website. 'I can be as strong, as fast, as explosive as I want to be, but if I can't control it to where Dak understands how explosive or how in and out my breaks I can be, I think I did that essentially just for me, and it's never just for me.'
Lamb extended his streak of seasons with 100 receptions and 1,000 yards to three despite Prescott missing nine games with a torn hamstring and Lamb missing the final two games with a shoulder injury.
Prescott and Lamb are fully healthy and plan to stay that way this season. The last time they did that — in 2023 — Prescott finished second in MVP voting after throwing a league-leading 36 touchdowns and Lamb had a league-leading 135 receptions for 1,749 yards and 12 touchdowns.
'I feel like the league knows what happens when I'm healthy, and I have Dak for a whole season,' Lamb said. 'But if you don't, I will happily show you what it's going to be like this year. Honestly, I'm a dominant receiver. I don't like to speak highly of myself, but I can't wait to show you guys.'

Dallas rewards its starting tight end with a $52 million extension as head coach Brian Schottenheimer praises Ferguson's toughness and leadership. The Dallas Cowboys extended Pro Bowl tight end Jake Ferguson with a four-year, $52 million contract extension, which includes $30 million guaranteed. The deal makes the former 2022 fourth-round pick the highest-paid TE in franchise history. The 26-year-old is coming off an injury-riddled season which included an injured knee and a concussion, and saw a decline in his production, finishing with 59 receptions for 494 yards and failing to find the end zone throughout the season. Head coach Brian Schottenheimer made it clear the call to extend Ferguson wasn't about the production, but instead about what the former Wisconsin Badger brings to the team. 'He's a great leader. He's lighter (this season). He's moving around really, really well," Schottenheimer said. "I think last year, you look at the first game against Cleveland, and he gets his knee pretty banged up. And then he's got a concussion mid-season at some point. That's so uncharacteristic of (Ferguson). It was just a year prior, in 2023, when following the departure of Dalton Schultz, the Cowboys moved Ferguson int the role of the full-time starter. In his first season leading th group, Ferguson recorded 71 receptions for 761 yards and five touchdowns and was named a Pro Bowl selection. 'I have zero doubts in my mind that his production will get back to where it was the year before," Schottenheimer added. "I think last year was just kind of one of those years that you look back on your career and it was more of a fluke than anything." Now entering his fourth season, Ferguson has become a more vocal and physical presence on the field and in the locker room. The head coach referred to him as an "enforcer," someone who consistently brings the edge and accountability every time he is on the field. '(He's) a really, really good player in this league," Schottenheimer said. "He has always been. He's one of those guys that as a young player, second-year player, there was leadership. He's an enforcer. He's a guy that plays the game the right way. He plays the game on the edge. Now with Ferguson under contract through 2029, the Cowboys hope that his best football is ahead of him.

Yankees' Aaron Judge diagnosed with flexor strain, placed on 10-day IL
The New York Yankees are losing their MVP to the injured list. Aaron Judge, New York's superstar slugger and leading candidate in the AL MVP race, was placed on the IL with a flexor strain in his right elbow on Sunday. There is no tear to the UCL. 'All in all, we got good news today,' Yankees manager Aaron Boone said, via The Associated Press. 'I think all of us kind of feared the worst.' The expectation is that Judge will need only 10 days away from the team. When he is available again, he will ease back into the lineup as a designated hitter, Boone said, while beginning to throw before eventually returning to the outfield. He won't jump to first base or anywhere else in the lineup until he's ready to resume his spot in the outfield. Boone added that Judge "couldn't really throw from the outfield" and underwent an MRI. It's unclear exactly when Judge initially suffered the injury. Judge was seen wincing and gripping his right hand after a throw during Tuesday night's win over the Toronto Blue Jays. The following day he did not play right field but served as designated hitter. Boone said the slugger was "OK." Since Tuesday, Judge was 1 for 10 at the plate; the lone hit was a home run in an 8-4 defeat to the Blue Jays on Wednesday. Saturday's game was the first he's missed all season. Judge is in an AL MVP race with Seattle Mariners star catcher Cal Raleigh. In 103 games, Judge leads the majors in batting average (.342), OPB (.449), slugging (.711) and OPS (1.160). Raleigh leads the majors in homers (39) and entered Saturday trailing Judge's 84 RBI by one. The Yankees finish a three-game series with the Phillies on Sunday afternoon and finish their homestand with four games against the Tampa Bay Rays. They will then hit the road to face the Miami Marlins and Texas Rangers. With Judge now sidelined, Yankees manager Aaron Boone said that the team will start working out Giancarlo Stanton in the outfield this week so he can be an option there in the meantime. Stanton, who made his season debut earlier this month amid elbow injuries of his own, has been the team's designated hitter. He last played in the outfield in 2023. "There's the feeling that if he just DH'd now, that he probably would not compromise his UCL," Boone said, via ESPN. "Obviously, throwing would. That said, there is a gripping component to it and it's probably, obviously, not like the defensive side, but probably somewhat affecting him offensively, too. "And then there's the [Giancarlo] component, too. So I think, when you add it all up, this makes the most sense to give this time to calm down a little bit, hopefully heal and then hopefully put us in a better position long term on it." The MLB trade deadline is July 31 and the Yankees are now six games behind the Blue Jays for the AL East lead and lost five of eight games since the All-Star break. One player who won't be called up to replace Judge is outfield prospect Spencer Jones, who has been the best hitter in the minor leagues this season. Despite a 1.116 OPS at Double-A and Triple-A, the New York Post's Jon Heyman reports Jones won't be called up. That would naturally invite trade deadline speculation around Jones, who looms as a notable chip for the Yankees, but Heyman added Jones isn't going anywhere barring an absolutely ridiculous return. There is high excitement around Jones given his success in the minors, though prospect analysts have concerns about contact rates that have led to a 31.1% strikeout rate this year.

The Rams signing veteran wideout Davante Adams, the Titans landing first overall draft pick Cam Ward, the Cowboys trading for third-year recevier George Pickens and the Jets signing QB Justin Fields are just a few of the biggest moves to happen this summer — and there's likely more where that came from. The preseason is officially just days away, with the first game on July 31, and we're tracking what to know ahead of then. That said, here's the latest on what's happening around the league this offseason. Cowboys fans shout 'Pay Micah!' at Jerry Jones amid ongoing stalemate Cowboys fans are growing increasingly impatient about the fact that the team has yet to reach a contract extension with All-Pro edge rusher Parsons, who's entering the final year of his rookie deal. They let Jerry Jones know exactly how they feel about it too, shouting "Pay Micah!" as Dallas' longtime owner addressed the crowd during the opening day of Cowboys training camp on Saturday in Oxnard, California, per CBS Sports. [MORE: With Micah Parsons, Jerry Jones Is Playing Another Contract Game He Can't Win] The Cowboys are coming off a disappointing 7–10 campaign. They exercised Parsons' fifth-year option, keeping him under contract through 2025 for $24 million — well below market value for easily one of the five best defensive players in the NFL . Still, Parsons reported to mandatory minicamp in June. Jones made headlines last week when he seemingly took a dig at Parsons' durability, pointing out he had dealt with an injury for the first time in his career, missing a handful of games because of a high ankle sprain. The 26-year-old Parsons, who earned Pro Bowl honors in each of his first three seasons in the league, remains the only player in NFL history to record at least 12.0 sacks in each of his first three years. Shavers was carted off the field at training camp after hurting his right ankle on what proved to be the final play of practice Sunday. He made a catch in the end zone and fell awkwardly while attempting to protect the ball from rookie cornerback Maxwell Hairston. Shavers was on the ground for several minutes while being tended to by the training staff, leading to head coach Sean McDermott ending practice a few minutes earlier than scheduled. The 25-year-old signed with Buffalo as an undrafted rookie free agent two years ago and appeared in three games with the Bills last season. Also, starting linebacker Terrel Bernard and starting receiver Curtis Samuel did not practice Sunday, as both are dealing with hamstring injuries. The team had no update on the severity of the injuries. Niners activate WR Ricky Pearsall from PUP list; QB Brock Purdy back at practice The 49ers activated second-year receiver Pearsall from the PUP list, and he practiced for the first time this summer. Purdy was also back at practice Sunday after missing a session on Friday for personal reasons. Pearsall had been out since injuring his hamstring during the offseason program. The Niners are counting on a big season from the 2024 first-round pick after trading away Deebo Samuel and with Brandon Aiyuk expected to miss the start of the season recovering from knee surgery. Pearsall finished the 2025 season with 31 catches for 400 yards and three touchdowns in 11 games, including 14 catches for 210 yards and two touchdowns in his final two games. McLaurin reported to training camp on Sunday following a four-day holdout, but the 2024 second-team All-Pro and the team have yet to agree on new contract terms. The Commanders removed McLaurin from the reserve/did not report list for camp and placed their leading receiver on the PUP list because of an ankle injury from the previous season, according to head coach Dan Quinn. Despite the limbo status, fans were thrilled to see McLaurin, serenading him with chants of "Terry! Terry!" The 29-year-old spent roughly 30 minutes signing autographs and taking photos before briefly speaking with reporters. McLaurin did not report on Tuesday along with his teammates and incurred a $50,000 daily fine for skipping the first four official days of camp. The seven-year veteran has one year remaining on a three-year, $68.2 million extension signed in 2022 but has been seeking a new deal. He set a career-high with 13 touchdown receptions and had 1,096 yards last season on 82 receptions. McLaurin participated in early portions of Washington's offseason program but skipped the on-field portions of OTAs and mandatory minicamp. Stafford will miss the second week of training camp to rest his sore back, according to multiple reports. The 37-year-old hasn't practiced with the Rams since the start of camp. Head coach Sean McVay initially said Stafford would only miss the Rams' first four practices while recovering from back soreness that had "crept up" in recent weeks. "I probably spoke a little bit too soon, but the ultimate goal is (being ready for Week 1 of the regular season) and being mindful of that, so we'll take it a week at a time with him," McVay said after the Rams' fourth practice of camp. McVay was already planning to limit the training camp practices of Stafford and several veterans, and the coach traditionally does not use any key players in Los Angeles' preseason games. "He's doing really well," McVay said of Stafford, who is heading into his 17th NFL season and his fifth with the Rams. "We've got a good plan in place. We are still going to take some more time with him, though. Nothing has changed in terms of the setback." Mixon opened training camp on the non-football injury list after missing OTAs and minicamp with an ankle injury. He's expected to miss the majority of the preseason and will be reevaluated closer to the start of the regular season, per ESPN. The 29-year-old Mixon, who injured his ankle during the offseason, rushed for 1,016 yards and 11 touchdowns in 2024, earning him Pro Bowl honors in his first season for the Texans and spending the first six years of his NFL career with the Bengals.
