Eid Al Adha 2025: Saudi Arabia Urges Muslims to Sight Dhu Al Hijjah Crescent Moon on May 27
The Supreme Court of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia has called on Muslims to sight the crescent moon marking the beginning of the holy month of Dhu Al Hijjah 1446 AH–2025 on the evening of Tuesday, May 27, which corresponds to Dhul Qadah 29.
In a statement released on Sunday, the Court urged anyone who sees the crescent moon—whether with the naked eye or through binoculars—to promptly report to the nearest court and provide their testimony.

The Supreme Court also encouraged those able to participate in the moon-sighting committees established in various regions to join and contribute to this important effort, which serves the Muslim community.
When will Eid Al Adha begin?
If the crescent moon of Dhu Al Hijjah is not sighted on Tuesday, May 27, 2025, then—as per Islamic tradition and common lunar calendar practice—Dhul Qadah will complete 30 days. As a result, Dhu Al Hijjah will begin on Thursday, May 29, 2025, instead of Wednesday, May 28.
This shift would delay the Hajj pilgrimage and Eid Al Adha celebrations by one day, making them likely to fall on Saturday, June 7, 2025.
