Seven prayer sites set for Muharraq
Seven prayer grounds will be readied across Muharraq for Eid Al Adha next Friday, with two of them set aside for expat worshippers, the Sunni Waqf Directorate has confirmed.
The plan was shared during a meeting with the Muharraq Municipal Council, as part of preparations for the upcoming holiday.
Of the seven, five locations will be open to the general public, while the remaining two will cater to non-Bahraini communities.
Waqf representatives said preparations were in place to ensure the occasion runs smoothly.
Wide participation
They called for wide participation from all ages and walks of life to bring the Eid prayer to life across the island.
Council chairman Abdulaziz Al Naar spoke afterwards of the Waqf's work, describing it as recognised by many in Muharraq.

Shura reviews 30-day grace period for work permit renewals
A 30-day window to renew expat work permits and a cap on how many can be issued has been proposed during a review by the Shura Council's Services Committee. The committee, chaired by Dr Jameela Mohamed Redha Al Salman, met yesterday to discuss two amendments to Bahrain's 2006 law on labour market regulation. One proposal seeks to give employers an extra month to renew work permits without facing penalties. As things stand, failure to renew on time means sanctions under Article 36 of the law. The second proposal calls for the national labour market plan to set a fixed upper limit on the number of permits granted by the LMRA. Current wording leaves that decision open-ended. Also on the table was a draft law to regulate artistic professions. The proposal, submitted by members Nancy Deena Elly Khedouri, Dalal Al Zayed, Khalid Al Maskati, Redha Faraj and Dr Mohamed Al Khozaie, would require anyone working in the arts to obtain a licence from the minister. The draft sets out a plan to issue professional cards to Bahraini artists, giving them access to certain benefits. It also includes the creation of a fund to support artistic work and provide backing for artists in the country. The draft further calls for stronger legal cover for those working in the arts, aiming to treat the field as a recognised line of work. It includes provisions for financial and social backing for Bahraini artists and refers to the arts as part of Bahrain's cultural identity.

17 open-air sites ready for Eid Al Adha prayers
Dr. Shaikh Rashid bin Mohammed bin Futtais Al Hajeri, Chairman of the Sunni Endowments Council, has announced that Eid Al Adha prayers will be held at official mosques and designated open air prayer areas under the Directorate's supervision on Friday June 6, at 5:00 a.m., in observance of the Sunnah of the Prophet Muhammad (PBUH). A dedicated committee formed by Dr. Shaikh Al Hajeri identified the main prayer sites, including those designated for expatriate communities in selected schools across the Kingdom. The committee confirmed the locations and closures as follows: East Hidd 1. Prayer Area in East Hidd (Hayy Al Julaiah); Closures include Al Noor Prayer Area (Kooheji), Fatima bint Fahad Al Musallam Mosque, Ahmed Abdullah Al Khaja Mosque, and Mohammed bin Mohammed Ahmadi Mosque. 2. Prayer Area in Hidd (Block 111); Closure of Prince Khalifa bin Salman Park Mosque. Diyar Al Muharraq 3. Prayer Area in Diyar Al Muharraq (southern parking area at Souq Al Baraha); Souq Al Baraha Mosque to be closed. Muharraq 4.
