Welsh West End star Sophie Evans has excitingly announced the arrival of her second child with rugby player husband, Ellis Jenkins. Known for her standout performances in musicals like Wicked and The Wizard of Oz, Sophie shared the heart warming news with her followers on social media through a witty Instagram post.
Sophie and Ellis, who already share a son, Jack, born in December 2022, were eagerly awaiting the birth of their second child. The couple, who have been together for over a decade, have been vocal about their excitement throughout the pregnancy, offering fans a glimpse into their journey.
On April 18, Sophie posted an update on Instagram, revealing that the day marked her due date. Sophie and Ellis' relationship is one that has evolved over the years. The couple first met when they were both just 18 years old, and their bond has only grown stronger since. Speaking to WalesOnline in the past, Sophie shared that despite their deep connection, they've faced their fair share of challenges.
"When we were about 23 or 24, we went separate ways for just over a year and then realised, 'you are the love of my life' and we are meant to be together. The rest is history," she recalled. Their reunion only reaffirmed their commitment to one another, and they've been inseparable ever since.
The couple chose to marry in Cardiff, opting for an intimate ceremony in their home country over a grand destination wedding. Sophie explained that while they initially considered getting married in Spain, they discovered that the legal requirements would make it too complicated. "I didn't realise that you can't really get officially legally married in Spain and you have to do a lot of things to be able to do that so I thought, let's just do the legal side here and go to the registry [sic] office and then we'll have the wedding in Ibiza," she said.
What started as a simple plan turned into a much larger celebration, and Sophie reflected on how they made the most of their day: "It became a bit more of a thing and I thought, if we're having a day in Cardiff then we may as well make it a bit more of a celebration."
Fans will no doubt continue to follow along as the couple embarks on this new chapter with their second child.

William and Sophie sample gin during rare joint outing
William and Sophie touched paper cups and said 'cheers' as they sampled the drink at the Royal Cornwall Show – the prince's first visit as the Duke of Cornwall. The pair were mobbed by crowds at the event at Whitecross, Wadebridge near Bodmin, who wanted selfies with William and to shake their hands. The Prince of Wales, and the Duchess of Edinburgh try local cider during a visit to the Food and Farming Pavilion at the Royal Cornwall Show (Chris Jackson/PA) The prince and duchess tried Saint Sithney Cornish gin and afterwards William described it as 'very light'. They also sampled the prince's favourite tipple, cider, and as the alcohol consumption mounted William joked about stronger spirits: 'I've been caught out with whisky a few times – I think I can do it, then it catches you out.' The pair spent the first few moments touring food stalls and stopped at jellies, jams and other produce made by the husband and wife team Wendy and Andy Knight from Home Farm Cornwall. William spread some spicy pumpkin chutney onto a piece of popadom, after asking for something 'not too hot' and quipped: 'When anyone says a little bit of spice – it's quite hot.' But he approved of the taste: 'Yummy, really good, there's definitely a bit of spice.' William and Sophie sample produce made by the husband and wife team of Wendy and Andy Knight from Home Farm Cornwall (Chris Jackson/PA) The prince knew what he wanted when they visited the Rattler Cornish Cider stall and turned down an offer of an alcohol free drink, saying he '(needed) the real stuff, cannot drink zero' and asked for the 'original'. He told Laura Clerehug who was manning the stand that 'everyone remembers their first Rattler' and after taking a drink, said: 'Needs a bit of ice in it, like a bit of ice.' During his tour of the show, William was intrigued by a robot dog-like device being developed by the University of Plymouth that can test the biodiversity of agricultural land, with farmers from William's Duchy of Cornwall participating in the research. He quipped 'what will the sheep make of that – dogs hate it I'm sure' – and watched as it rolled on to its back like a real canine. In the Duchy of Cornwall hub marquee, a large number of mental health charities and organisations working in Cornwall had been gathered and he chatted intently to the representatives. Husband and wife Serena and Elliott Jolly founded Sunrise Cornwall, after Mrs Jolly's younger brother committed suicide, to provide safe spaces for bereaved family and friends to talk and share their experiences. Gesturing around to the other organisations, William suggested to the couple they all 'find a way to help each other out, the synergy will make a greater impact, I hope that's something you can talk about'. Mrs Jolly said afterwards: 'Suicide isn't a dirty word, we have to be able to talk about it.'

Sophie Habboo hits back after cruel backlash and nepotism accusations over her new Radio 1 job with Jamie Laing
Some listeners had threatened to switch off as they slammed the latest hiring by bosses Mic Drop Sophie Habboo hits back after cruel backlash and nepotism accusations over her new Radio 1 job with Jamie Laing SOPHIE Habboo has hit back at cruel backlash and nepotism accusations over her new BBC Radio 1 job with Jamie Laing. Sharing an expert from an i article to Instagram, Sophie wrote on her Stories today: "Thank you @carsonsarah @theipaper. "I've been reflecting on my first week of Radio 1 and it's been such a surreal experience to connect with the nation. I love it!!!" Chief Culture Writer Sarah Carson had praised Sophie in her opinion piece, claiming - while her hiring may not be "fair - the reality star still "deserved" her place. Advertisement She wrote: "The primary function of Radio 1 in the afternoons is providing a bit of distraction, energy, and silliness as people leave work or school. "It's not supposed to be challenging, or specialist - it's low-stakes, unwind, chatty stuff that needs someone sparky on the mic between the pre-made playlists. "Habboo is likeable, a sharp wit, withering, quick to laugh, and sweet. She's smart, comfortable being open about her relationship, self-effacing, and happy to indulge a bit of nonsense (she needs to be, being married to Laing). "She feels like a friend - the kind who gives you tough love while giving your arm a gentle squeeze - and she's got charisma. That counts for a lot more than skill and experience in this landscape." Advertisement Her comments were a far cry from some listeners, who had slammed the latest hiring by bosses. On the official social media account of BBC Radio 1, fans flocked to the comments section as they claimed the station has "fallen" in standards. Vick Hope finally reveals pregnancy - and date she's going on maternity leave from BBC Radio One One disgruntled listener fumed: "How far we've fallen from Vick and Jordan…" A second exclaimed: "There is something really gross, about two such privileged and independently wealthy (the Laings)given access to prime time national radio shows over people who have trained and studied for years in media." Advertisement "Please get some good DJs back in the drive time slot. It's getting embarrassing," stated a third user. While someone else raged: "Wealthy Reality stars just being handed roles for nothing now. They're sooo unrelatable." And a fifth added: "Im a big radio 1 fan but shouldve been jerry .....jamie and sophie is a bad move be a switch off for me sorry." Many longtime fans of the station directly blamed bosses for a decline as they hired "influencers". Advertisement They slammed the decision not to look for upcoming talent or give the role to an existing cover presenter who has trained for the job "for years". Another fan noted: "Where is the dislike button? "There are so many hard working and capable presenters covering gigs on R1 atm, how undermining that they weren't given the chance to show the listeners what they're capable of!!" Someone else agreed" "Really glad I'm not the only one who was disappointed by this update. Advertisement "It really doesn't sit right with me when there's people trying so hard to get a break. It's a no from me I'm afraid." Please get some good DJs back in the drive time slot. It's getting embarrassing Radio 1 fan While another added: "I think I'll be finding a different radio station to listen to for my 'going home' slot in the week now. "Something just doesn't sit right with me, that his wife has got the job… when there must be some amazing local talent & those that have worked really hard in the industry that will have been overlooked for celebrity privilege…" One more fan stated: "Radio 1 turning into a constant influencer podcast.. what happened to actually knowing music to being a radio DJ! Many years of listening, only holding on for Greg! Time to switch!" The EastEnders actress shared a downbeat song on social media after The Sun revealed their hotel meet and flirty nickname. The lyrics she used were: "And I don't want the world to see me." It comes after we told of Dan's raucous nights out with newly single Christine while Dan was still building bridges with Jac over previous cheating claims. A pal told The Sun: 'Dan and Christine have known each other for years. 'Their friendship goes as far back as 2019, when Jac was heading Down Under to the I'm A Celeb jungle, when they had a brilliant night out at a fund-raising gala in London. 'They stayed in touch sporadically and would bump into each other at events and their messages got pretty flirty. 'Some were seen by mutual friends. 'She would call him 'D' in texts and it became an open secret among their circles. 'There is no suggestion anything sexual happened, but it's fair to say there was a spark between them.' Our source said the pair met at London's The Hoxton hotel in March 2023 — a year after Christine called time with Paddy, 51. How Christine McGuinness & Dan Osborne 'comforted each other' amid marriage breakdowns, had hotel meet & flirty nickname And the following month, she cheered him on at a celebrity football match in Cheshire. They also partied together at a restaurant called Habbibi in Leeds. Dan moved out of the family home briefly earlier this year as their marriage hit the rocks once again. But they jetted off on a make or break holiday and looked to be patching things up. Their relationship has suffered countless cheating allegations over the years. In 2019, Dan confessed publicly to having made 'mistakes'. He said: 'I've done things I shouldn't have done.' And Jac said she had "given him hell" over the allegations.
