Amit Shah to meet families affected by shelling & inspect the impacted areas: BJP Ravinder Raina
Jammu (Jammu and Kashmir) [India], May 30 (ANI): BJP leader Ravinder Raina stated that during Union Home Minister Amit Shah's visit to Poonch, he will meet with families affected by Pakistani shelling, inspect the impacted areas, and engage with personnel from the BSF, Indian Army, and J&K Police.
'Union Home Minister Amit Shah is arriving in Poonch today, after the success of Operation Sindoor, carried out by our security forces, which destroyed the terrorist sites in Pakistan...Union Home Minister Amit Shah will meet the families affected by Pakistani shelling, visit the affected areas and also interact with the bravehearts of BSF, Indian Army and J&K police...,' he said.
Meanwhile, the security arrangements have been stepped up in Poonch city of Jammu and Kashmir ahead of Union Home Minister Amit Shah's visit today.
Residents of the area expressed hopes for a relief package amid concerns over recent shelling incidents.
Earlier, Congress leader and Lok Sabha Leader of Opposition (LoP) Rahul Gandhi visited Poonch, and after that, he wrote a letter to Prime Minister Narendra Modi. In the letter, he requested a strong and generous relief and rehabilitation package for the people affected by Pakistani shelling in the border areas.
'I urge the Government of India to come out with a solid and generous relief and rehabilitation package for Poonch and all other areas affected by Pakistani shelling,' Gandhi wrote in the letter.
He said that 14 people, including four children, had lost their lives. At the same time, dozens were injured in Pakistani shelling, which caused 'massive destruction' in the common areas, with hundreds of houses and other structures damaged.
'I recently visited Poonch, where 14 people, including four children, have tragically lost their lives and dozens have been injured in Pakistani shelling. This sudden and indiscriminate attack has caused massive destruction in the common areas. Hundreds of houses, shops, schools and religious places have been badly damaged. Many victims said that their years of hard work were wasted in one stroke,' the letter stated.
In a post on X earlier, the Congress leader said that the pain being felt by the people of Poonch can be understood only after visiting it.
India launched Operation Sindoor on May 7 and struck nine terror sites in Pakistan and Pakistan-Occupied-Kashmir in response to a ghastly terror attack in Jammu and Kashmir's Pahalgam last month in which 26 people were killed.
After the attack, Pakistan retaliated with cross-border shelling across the Line of Control and Jammu and Kashmir as well as attempted drone attacks along the border regions, following which India launched a coordinated attack and damaged radar infrastructure, communication centres, and airfields across 11 airbases in Pakistan.
After this, on May 10, an understanding of the cessation of hostilities between India and Pakistan was announced. (ANI)

State pushed back 330 illegal foreigners: CM
1 2 3 Guwahati: Assam chief minister Himanta Biswa Sarma on Monday informed a one-day special sitting of the legislative assembly that about 330 illegal foreigners have been pushed back from the state so far and govt is waiting for floods to recede to send back another 35 individuals. Jain community is not a job seeker, but a job provider: Gadkari
Nagpur: In a fast-evolving world, quality education plays critical role in shaping the future, said Union minister for road transport and highways Nitin Gadkari while addressing a packed audience at Sakal Jain Yuva Sangh's student felicitation programme on Sunday. "Our aim is that every student in Nagpur should have access to quality education," he said, outlining the ongoing efforts to transform the region into an educational and employment hub. Gadkari mentioned key educational initiatives, including the Symbiosis International University in Wathoda, which currently educates many underprivileged students, and a major KG to PG education facility near Bhandewadi. He also highlighted employment gains, noting that 90,000 youth from Vidarbha have secured jobs in MIHAN, and that global companies are investing in biotech and manufacturing in the region. Held at Indra Bhavan auditorium in Itwari, 180 outstanding students from Sakal Jain community who scored above 80% marks in their 10th and 12th board exams were felicitated. "Jain community is not a job seeker, but a job provider," Gadkari said, encouraging students to pursue entrepreneurship and leverage emerging opportunities, such as the upcoming commercial textile park on Empress Mill land on Subhash Road in the city.
