A meteor shower is headed straight for the UAE: here's where you can watch it

If you look up to the sky over the next few weeks you could be in for a treat. An annual meteor shower, named the Perseid meteor shower (if you want to be technical) is making an appearance again, as the planet moves through a debris trail left by a former comet. As the small pieces of rock hit the Earth's atmosphere, you'll be able to see the short flashes of moving light across the night sky. A big date in the diary for stargazers, you will be able to see this unmissable display at its strongest on Monday August 12. A perfect opportunity to make a wish, there are some great spots across the UAE to catch the event in action. Of course, you will need to head out after dark, and an ideal location is always one far from light pollution so you can get a good view. The best spots to watch the Perseid meteor shower in the UAE Abu Dhabi: Al Quaa Milky Way Spot (Credit: Adobe) A quiet and open spot (away from night pollution) is always a good bet for stargazing. It has its own location tag on Google Maps (23.604633,54.750256.) and is one place where you are sure to see something mesmerising in the sky. Free. Open 24 hours, 7 days a week. Abu Dhabi.
