Complete four ports and four fishing harbours by December next year, Naidu tells officials
Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu has announced that the Andhra Pradesh Logistics Corporation will be set up soon to realise the goals of developing roads, ports, airports, and fishing harbours in the State. He has also ordered that a plan be drafted to set up heliports in Agency areas to boost tourism.
Reviewing the progress of the under-construction ports and fishing harbours in the State during a meeting held at his camp office at Undavalli on Tuesday, Mr. Naidu asked the officials to complete the first phase of the construction of Machilipatnam, Ramayapatnam, and Mulapeta ports, as well as the Kakinada Gateway Port, by December next year.
The first phase of works of the fishing harbours at Juvvaladinne, Nizampatnam, Machilipatnam, and Uppada should be completed at the earliest. The ports and fishing harbours are vital assets of the State and must be put to use swiftly after construction, the Chief Minister said.
He also held discussions with the officials on the operation and maintenance of ports.
Mr. Naidu suggested that fishing harbours be developed as minor ports in such a way that they do not cause inconvenience to local fishermen and help increase regional income.
New airports in PPP mode
Mr. Naidu instructed the officials to begin construction of the new airports proposed in Kuppam, Dagadarthi, Amaravati, and Srikakulam (Palasa). 'The State should have at least 20 ports and 14 airports. The State roads should be expanded, keeping the traffic congestion in view, and those should be integrated with the national highways. These developments should be undertaken under the Public-Private Partnership (PPP) model,' the Chief Minister said.
The officials informed the Chief Minister that 43.25% of the first phase work of the Machilipatnam port had been completed, and the project was expected to be completed by November next year.
They stated that 63.89% of the first phase of Ramayapatnam Port, 46.59% of the first phase of Mulapeta Port, and 29.92% of the Kakinada Gateway Port work had been completed.
The officials said that the progress of fishing harbours was apace. Around 98% of the first phase of the Juvvaladinne harbour was completed, while 81.17% of the works of the first phase of Nizampatnam fishing harbour and 69.20% of the first phase of Machilipatnam fishing harbour and 78.94% of the first phase of Uppada fishing harbour had been completed.

State to rollout Coco policy soon
The Andhra Pradesh government will soon introduce a Cocoa Policy aimed at ensuring better returns for farmers. Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu, during a review conducted at the Undavalli camp office on Thursday, emphasised the need to sensitise farmers about maintaining quality and ensure that all agricultural products meet the international standards. Mr. Naidu directed officials to encourage Farmer Producer Organisations (FPOs) and Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) to establish processing units. Additionally, he asked them to ensure remunerative prices and timely procurement for crops like cocoa, mango, and tobacco, which are a top priority. Officials informed Mr. Naidu that so far, 465 metric tonnes of cocoa have been procured from farmers, while another 745 metric tonnes remain with farmers. Presently, a minimum remunerative price of ₹500 per kg is fixed, and companies are currently paying ₹450 per kg, while the state government is paying ₹50 per kg as subsidy. Mr. Naidu said: 'The interests of farmers are the top priority for the government. Officials must visit fields regularly to understand ground realities and prevent farmer dissatisfaction. The government has consistently supported farmers in horticulture, aquaculture, and paddy procurement.' The government has directed the Tobacco Board to regulate the acreage for FCV tobacco cultivation in the state. The White Burley variety will be cultivated only under contract, and companies have been mandated to procure it accordingly. For HD Burley (Black Burley), officials are to consult farmers and must encourage cultivation of alternative crops such as pulses and millets in the relevant villages. Companies, like the ITC and GPI have been directed to procure up to 25 million kg of HD Burley tobacco. However, as they are reluctant to purchase second- and third-grade HD Burley, Mr. Naidu asked officials to hold consultations with the companies to resolve the issue. Seven market yards – Parchur, Inkollu, Martur, Pedanandipadu, Prattipadu, Chilakaluripet, and Maddipadu – have been readied for immediate tobacco procurement. Purchases will begin shortly. With regard to the mango crop, officials informed the Chief Minister that around 43,000 metric tonnes of mango pulp are stuck with processing companies as orders from major buyers like Parle Agro, Coca-Cola, and PepsiCo have not come, leading to the problem. Mr. Naidu directed the officials to see that traders buy mangoes at ₹12 per kg immediately. If traders pay ₹8, the state government will subsidise ₹4 per kg directly to farmers. He also asked all farmers, traders, and processors to register themselves along with maintaining proper records.

CM Naidu, Pawan Kalyan launch one crore plantation in a day programme
Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu and Deputy Chief Minister Pawan Kalyan launched 'Vana Mahotsav' to plant one crore saplings across the state on World Environment Day on Thursday. They, along with Municipal Administration Minister P. Narayana, planted the saplings at ADCL Park in the state capital, Amaravati. The leaders visited the stalls arranged by the Pollution Control Board (PCB) on environmental protection. PCB Chairman Krishnaiah explained to the Chief Minister the steps being taken for plastic recycling. The Chief Minister directed officials to formulate a special policy on recycling. He asked them to give him a report on this every 15 days. Earlier, Chandrababu Naidu, in his post on 'X' said that nature is not the property of anyone. "Everyone is responsible for protecting the environment. It is our duty to protect forests and water resources. That is why the government has taken up a large-scale tree planting programme. On the occasion of World Environment Day, today, we are requesting everyone to participate in the programme of planting one crore trees in one day," CM Naidu said. "This year, the theme of World Environment Day is plastic pollution eradication. Let us do our part to reduce plastic pollution. Let us take a pledge to protect the environment," he added. Pawan Kalyan, who is also the Minister for Forest and Environment, stated that a clean and healthy environment is the greatest gift we can offer future generations. "Let us act responsibly and take up the duty of environmental protection. Let's plant saplings, prevent water pollution, and work towards the conservation of wildlife," Pawan Kalyan said. Meanwhile, the Forest Department said that Andhra Pradesh currently has 29 per cent land under green (tree) cover. The state government has set a target of increasing this to 50 per cent by 2047 by greening various types of land available with the farmers, the Revenue Department, institutional lands, lands along roadside, railway lines and canals. Out of the total geographical area of 1,62,923 square kilometres in the state, 48,978 square kilometres has green cover. Green cover is planned over an additional area of 32,483 square kilometres. According to the Principal Chief Conservator of Forests, this year World Environment Day is being celebrated with two themes - 'Vana Mahotsav' programme and 'End plastic pollution' to achieve the goal of a 'Swachh Andhra Pradesh'. A record one crore seedlings will be planted by various departments and other stakeholders across the state in a single day on Thursday. During the 2025 planting season, the Forest Department, Rural Development, Pollution Control Board, Horticulture Departments and others have set a target of planting 5.58 crore saplings over approximately 1.8 lakh hectares in all districts across the state.

Chandrababu Naidu Champions Recycling and Green Initiatives on World Environment Day
In a significant move to enhance environmental sustainability, Chief Minister Nara Chandrababu Naidu has directed top officials to formulate a special policy on recycling. This announcement came during a sapling planting event held on June 5th, in Ananthavaram village, as part of World Environment Day celebrations. The Chief Minister, alongside Deputy CM Pawan Kalyan, actively participated in the initiative by planting saplings in the Amaravati region. During the event, CM Naidu emphasised the importance of inter-departmental coordination to effectively implement recycling efforts. He also highlighted the need to consider suggestions from Prime Minister Narendra Modi to enhance the green cover in Amaravati, instructing officials to focus on developing Miyawaki gardens—a dense planting method inspired by practices in Malaysia, Singapore, South Korea, Japan, and the United States. The Chief Minister has mandated that a comprehensive report on the recycling policy be submitted every 15 days, in collaboration with the Panchayati Raj, Urban Development, Pollution Control Board, and other relevant departments. Additionally, he called for the establishment of exhibitions on recycling across three areas, along with awareness campaigns for college students utilizing mobile units. At the event, CM Naidu and Deputy CM Pawan Kalyan explored stalls set up by the Pollution Control Board that highlighted various aspects of environmental protection. The occasion was also attended by Minister Narayana and several other ministers and senior officials. In line with these green initiatives, the coalition government is dedicated to developing the Amaravati capital to international standards, aiming for 30 percent of the area to be designated as blue and green spaces. The administration is taking proactive measures to ensure future temperatures are maintained at least 2 to 3 degrees lower, drawing on successful plantation strategies from countries like Singapore and Japan.
