Overwhelmed, says GV Prakash on second national award

Chennai, Aug 1 (PTI) Musician G V Prakash on Friday said he was 'blessed" and 'overwhelmed" over winning the National Award for a second time.
He won the Best Music Director award for the second time, having bagged a similar honour earlier for the actor Surya-starrer Soorarai Potru.
The 71st National Film Awards were announced on Friday.
'A blessing for the second time. I'm truly overwhelmed and deeply grateful to receive the 71st National Film Award for Best Music Director for the film Vaathi," he said in a statement on 'X.' 'Vaathi' starring national award winner Dhanush is the story of a teacher bringing transformation in the lives of a set of students in a rural area. Dhanush played the titular role.
Kumar extended a 'special thanks to my brother Dhanush," who chose him for the film and recalled their collaboration in films from 'Pollathavan' to the upcoming 'Idly Kadai'.
He also thanked the film's director Venky Atluri and the producers.
He said he was 'immensely grateful" to his family, team of musicians, lyricists, technicians, friends and fans 'who have supported me and believed in me." Actor Harish Kalyan, the lead actor in the critically acclaimed Tamil film 'Parking' which won three awards including the best supporting role for MS Bhaskar, lauded his co-star.
'3 National Awards for the film we put all our honesty, heart and hope into #Parking. Congratulations to my director @ImRamkumar_B on the 'Best Screenplay" Award, Our very own #MSBhaskar sir on 'Best Supporting Actor" Award, and to the entire team of our film #Parking on 'Best Tamil Film" award," he said on 'X.' 'Words can't justify my gratitude and love towards our Tamizh makkal (people) & the audience, my team, the jury and everyone who believed in this film! Thank you for all the love," he said.

Even Devdas, people were apprehensive of doing Chunnibabu's role saying 'title role to Devdas ka hai'. Par kya ho gaya usse? People were scared to do the role opposite Shah Rukh Khan, which I eventually did. I know if I stand in a frame, I will be seen.' Jackie also shares that he is aware about his positioning and that keeps him sane and grounded. 'I know my limitations, like I can't play cricket or anything else, but I am open to learning. I prefer being like water and giving myself all to the director. I don't plot or plan on how to do things. The director is the captain of the ship, he will handle that. I can't do it. I am open though, you play around with me, give me good lines and scenes and it's cool. Use my presence, my sincerity, discipline and respect for others. There is no pretence with me. I will put it as, I don't die in a death sequence,' he says.

Chennai: Oscar winner A R Rahman, who is also the uncle of music director G V Prakash, and ace director Sudha Kongara were among several film celebrities who congratulated music director G V Prakash on having won his second National Award for Vaathi. Soon after the winners of the 71st National Awards were announced on Wednesday, G V Prakash Kumar, who won the National Award for Best Music Direction (Songs) for the Tamil, Telugu bilingual film Vaathi, took to his X timeline to call the honour "a blessing for the second time". G V Prakash had won his first National Award for director Sudha Kongara's 'Soorarai Pottru'. Responding to G V Prakash's statement on X, music director A R Rahman wrote, "Wishing you many more ..Congratulations." G V Prakash, who had worked under A R Rahman for a while before turning music director, responded to Rahman's tweet, saying, "Thanks a lot sir." Interestingly, G V Prakash, had in an interview earlier, disclosed that although he was Rahman's nephew, he would always address him as "sir" with respect as he had worked under him. Director Sudha Kongara too congratulated G V Prakash on his second National Award. Taking to Instagram, she posted a picture of herself with G V Prakash and wrote, "Looooooong due my bestie buddy brother @gvprakash. So so awesome. here's to many many more! And my fav fav fav song of yours too !!!!" G V Prakash meanwhile, in a statement expressing gratitude, called his second National Award "A blessing for the second time." Ashish Bende Wins Best Debut Director For Aatmapamphlet At 71st National Awards

Marathi cinema made a strong mark at the 71st National Film Awards for 2023 by winning several important honours. One big winner was Aatmapamphlet, directed by newcomer Ashish Bende, who received the Best Debut Film of a Director award. The film stood out not just because of Ashish's impressive work behind the camera, but also because it was the first Marathi movie to bring together three big names like Zee Studios, Aanand L Rai and Bhushan Kumar. After the win, Rai praised Ashish's dedication. He added that this success proved personal stories have great power and said he felt lucky to support Ashish at the start of his career. Along with Aatmapamphlet, Naal 2, directed by Sudhakar Reddy Yakkanti, also won the Best Children's Film award. Both films received Swarna Kamal and a cash prize of Rs 3 Lakh each. Another winner was Shyamchi Aai, which was named the Best Marathi Feature Film, directed by Sujay Dahake. That's not all, child actors from Naal 2, Treesha Thosar, Shrinivas Pokale and Bhargav Jagtap, took home the Best Child Artist award, along with Kabir Khandare from Gypsy. Although Ashish Bende's film was made on a minimal budget, it was screened at the prestigious Berlin International Film Festival in 2023.
