Elite five-star athlete cancels FSU trip, locks in visit with Texas
Texas currently has the No. 12 recruiting class in the nation for the 2026 cycle per On3. On Monday, they got some great news about a huge target of theirs, five-star athlete Lamar Brown.
The 6-foot-4, 285-pounder was originally supposed to visit Florida State on June 6. He has reworked his schedule and canceled his trip to Tallahassee. Now, the Longhorns will host Brown on that date, which will proceed his visits to Texas A&M and LSU in the following weeks.
Brown is the No. 8 overall prospect in the country and the No. 1 athlete per On3's industry rankings. They also have him as the No. 1 recruit in Louisiana.
The Longhorns extended an offer to Brown last January. Despite this being his first reported visit to Austin after his offer, and not having them in his top four schools, Texas has been able to remain in the race for Brown due to his ties to new defensive ends coach LaAllan Clark.
Brown is a dynamic player that has played all over the field. While On3 has him as an athlete, 247Sports has Brown listed as a defensive lineman and Rivals has him as an offensive line prospect. This explains why he has 33 offers from some of the top programs in the country.

Ohio State Athletic Director Ross Bjork meets with media to discuss state of program

Ohio State Athletic Director Ross Bjork meets with media to discuss state of program College athletics continue to be transformed at breakneck speed. Over the last few years, we've seen conferences re-align, Name, Image and Likeness become prevalent and extremely meaningful, the transfer portal turn college athletics into free-agency, and now, we have direct revenue sharing taking center stage after the approval of the House Settlement. With all of that going on, and with the recent news that will again change things, Ohio State Athletic Director Director Ross Bjork took some time to meet with the media to give a state of college athletics, what it means for Ohio State, and provide some direction of the program given the size and impact of such a massive athletic department. He also took time to field some questions from the media that made their way to the banks of the Olentangy. It was a long and wide-ranging press conference, but we felt it necessary to provide the full video and audio of Bjork's time at the podium on Thursday to give you the full scale of all of his comments. Watch and listen to Bjork discuss things like the House Settlement, how revenue sharing will be funded, expanding the College Football Playoff, the status of night games, and much more. Thanks to WBNS 10TV, the CBS affiliate in Columbus for the video. This won't be the last time we hear from Bjork with the everchanging landscape of college athletics. Ohio State had a really good AD with Gene Smith prior to Bjork's arrival, and so far the newest AD seems to know what he's doing and is ready to also knock it out of the park. Notre Dame hires alum Jas Smith as Director of Operations for women's basketball

Notre Dame women's basketball has added a new member to the front-office family. Jas Smith is the new Director of Operations for the Fighting Irish. The 2016 Notre Dame graduate is returning after serving as the director of operations for LSU football since January of 2022. It's no shock that Smith was working for former Notre Dame football head coach Brian Kelly in Baton Rouge -- she served as his coordinator of on-campus recruiting at Notre Dame from 2018-2021. Advertisement Before that, she was an ambassador for Notre Dame football while an undergraduate student in South Bend. She has a degree in information technology management from Notre Dame. She also worked as an admissions counselor at Notre Dame from 2016-2017. She worked as a director for undergraduate admissions at Nova Southeastern University after leaving Notre Dame, and she had a stop at the Special Olympics in Miami, where she was a senior sports manager, in 2021 when she was between stints working for Kelly. She'll be working under new men's and women's basketball general manager Pat Garrity. The men's team is continuing to try to rebuild, while the women's team will be working to get over a disappointing Sweet 16 loss in last season's tournament. The women's team had been expected to compete for a championship. Welcome back to campus, Jas. Texas A&M DH announces departure, thanks Aggieland with heartwarming tribute

Texas A&M DH announces departure, thanks Aggieland with heartwarming tribute Texas A&M baseball's most integral leader shared a heartfelt and emotional goodbye to the Aggie faithful after becoming one of the program's most talented utility players in his graduate season in Bryan-College Station, Texas. In collegiate athletics, players come and go frequently. Especially in the current era of the transfer portal, athletes are leaving their respective universities to pursue their future endeavors. Loyalty and leadership are two qualities that are rare in this new era and are extremely important in building a roster filled with players who will lay it all on the line for each other. The Aggies did just that when they landed outfielder and designated-hitter Hayden Schott during last year's offseason. His ability to lead on and off the field earned him the No. 12 jersey for the 2025 season. Schott did the number justice, to say the least. He started 33 of 50 games this season for the Aggies and collected four homers and 34 RBI, but his contributions as a leader in the clubhouse were an invaluable trait that will be remembered forever in Aggieland. On Thursday afternoon, Schott posted a heartwarming tribute to his time wearing the Maroon and White this season, thanking the fan base for their undeniable support. Before his time in College Station, Schott was a standout outfielder for Columbia as he dominated his way to All-Ivy League honors in 2022 and 2023. Following his stint with the Lions, the Newport Beach, California, native quickly made an impact when he stepped on the field at Blue Bell Park. His contributions on and off the diamond earned him the Marion Pugh Spirit Award for his instrumental abilities in bringing unity to the team and his valuable leadership. Schott's charisma and personality instantly made him a fan favorite on the Texas A&M baseball roster this season. The 2025 "12th Man" will forever be remembered for his unwavering passion for his teammates, coaching staff and for every single member of the Aggie fanbase who stood by his side and constantly supported him throughout the ups and downs of the program's season that ended at the SEC Tournament at the end of May.
