
Marion man, 27, dies when motorcycle travels into field and overturns
An 27-year-old Marion man died early Sunday morning in a motorcycle crash on Caledonia Northern Road, just north of Emahiser Road.
Seth G. Reece was pronounced dead at the scene, according to a news release from the Marion Post of the State Highway Patrol.
Reece was driving northbound on a 2024 Suzuki GSX1000, approaching Emahiser Road, when he failed to negotiate the curve at the intersection, according to the release. The motorcycle traveled off of the right side of the road into a field, where Reece was unable to maintain control of the bike, causing him to overturn before the vehicle came to redst.
Reece was wearig a helmet at the time of the crash, according to the report.
The patrol was assisted on scene by First Consolidated Fire and EMS and Ron's Towing.

At least three people killed in crashes during Memorial Day weekend in Missouri
KANSAS CITY, Mo. — At least three people were killed in crashes this Memorial Day weekend in Missouri, according to the State Highway Patrol. The Missouri State Highway Patrol (MSHP) said one fatality occurred in the Troop A, Lees Summit area, and two fatalities occurred in the Troop C, Weldon Spring area. Also on Saturday, May 24, a 69-year-old man from Wentzville died when his motorcycle was rear-ended on Missouri Highway 47, south of Boone Monument Road, in Warren County. The MSHP said the motorcyclist began to slow down due to heavy smoke coming from the motorcycle. The driver behind him tried to brake and ended up hitting the back of the motorcycle, which caused the motorcycle to hit the vehicle in front of it. The motorcyclist was transported to Mercy Hospital in Washington, Missouri, where he was pronounced dead. He was not wearing a helmet. The driver of that hit the motorcycle had minor injuries and was transported to an area hospital, the MSHP said. On Monday, May 26, a 60-year-old man from Catawissa, Missouri, died when his motorcycle was hit head-on by a car. The MSHP said the crash occurred on Missouri Highway 94, west of Klondike Park Loop, in St. Charles County. A car travelling east on Highway 94 crossed the center line and hit the westbound motorcycle head-on, the MSHP said. The motorcycle then crashed into another motorcycle also traveling west. The 60-year-old man was pronounced dead at the scene. He was not wearing a helmet. The driver of the vehicle was transported to a hospital with minor injuries. Walkertown man accused of causing 2 deaths
A Walkertown man is accused of causing a wreck on Interstate 77 that killed two people Saturday night. Benjamin Wesley Overton, 31, of Hanley Way was driving a 2006 Ford F-250 south on I-77 near Statesville about 10:10 p.m. when it struck a southbound 2023 Kia Sportage, causing both vehicles to go off the right side of the road and hit a guardrail, the N.C. State Highway Patrol said. The Kia overturned, and both the driver, Jessica Lyndsay Horton, 47, and a passenger, Patricia Marie Osorno, 47, both of Mooresville, were ejected. Both were declared dead at the scene of the wreck. Overton was not injured, the Highway Patrol said. Excessive speed and impairment were contributing factors, the Highway Patrol said. Overton was charged with driving while impaired, careless and reckless driving, two counts of felony death by vehicle, and driving while license revoked. His bond was set at $2.5 million secured. The investigation is ongoing, and additional charges are pending.
