Steve Barnett, Alan Powell and Vicky Patel are producing the reboot through Monarch Media, along with the original film's producers Denise Di Novi and Hunt Lowry, as well as Margaret French-Isaac through Di Novi Pictures and Patty Reed through Lowry's Roserock Films.

Marquis Who's Who Honors Michele Levy, PhD, for Expertise in Comparative Literature

UNIONDALE, NY / ACCESS Newswire / August 21, 2025 / Marquis Who's Who honors Dr. Michele Levy for her expertise in comparative literature. With nearly 50 years of professional experience, Dr. Levy is a celebrated scholar, researcher and author of comparative literature, having shared her expertise at various universities, including North Carolina A&T State University, Xavier University of Louisiana, St. Mary's Dominican College, and the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. Having discovered her love for books at an early age, Dr. Levy was reading voraciously in the adult section of her local library when she was just seven years old. Her love of literature followed her through all her later years. Her last course for her Bachelor of Arts was Medieval Latin, taught by a professor who had first studied classical languages at Harvard. Their one-on-one translations from traveling nuns and poets rekindled her passion for Latin and a desire to become a classicist. But Classics now required Greek, too. She was accepted, instead, into the Curriculum of Comparative Literature at UNC, a discipline about which she knew nothing. Yet, it combined her great passions-- literature, languages, and history-and allowed her to shape an immensely rewarding career. Dr. Levy: The Student Instrumental to Dr. Levy's professional successes have been her own academic achievements as a student. She began her studies at Bryn Mawr College, but left for work and study in Washington, D.C., where she received a bachelor's degree in history, with honors, from the George Washington University in 1970. Dr. Levy then pursued both a master's degree and a doctorate, both in comparative literature, from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, in 1973 and 1980, respectively. Throughout her studies, Dr. Levy developed her expertise in English, French and Russian literatures from the late 19th and early 20th centuries, later adding postcolonial and Balkan studies. Dr. Levy: The Professor Dr. Levy's professional journey has included various roles as an educator, first as a teaching assistant at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. In the fall of 1980, she taught a course on 'From Tolstoy to Tolkien,' at Dominican College in New Orleans. She served as professor and later chair of the English Department at Xavier University of Louisiana from 1981 to 2002, where her leadership and dedication to excellence were evident. During this time, she guided the department and helped the university through numerous academic advancements and mentored both undergraduate and graduate students, many of whom have gone on to attain significant success in their fields and communities. In 2002, Dr. Levy left Xavier University to become chair of English at North Carolina A&T State University, where she taught until retiring in 2015. Here, too, she helped shape both the department and the institution, while continuing to work closely with students. Professional and Personal Success Dr. Levy takes great pride in having taught at two historically Black universities, as well as having participated in a number of specially funded grant programs, such as The Bard College National Summer Seminars in Writing for High School Students, and workshops in mentoring and course design sponsored by the NAACP and the United Negro College Fund. She also led several Louisiana Endowment for the Humanities summer programs for high school language arts teachers. Likewise, she deepened her expertise in Dostoevsky with a National Endowment for the Humanities Summer Seminar at Harvard. She credits her success to her passion for her field and a lot of good fortune. Since retiring from North Carolina A&T State University, Dr. Levy has held the title of professor emerita while continuing to write and teach. In 2020, she published 'Anna's Dance: A Balkan Odyssey,' a novel that reflects her deep engagement with Balkan history and literature. She is currently working on a second novel, reviewing mostly Balkan literature for 'World Literature Today,' and moderating self-designed literature courses for retired adults. In her free time, she enjoys walking, Balkan dance, and being in nature, as well as interacting with her children and seven grandchildren, all of whom live nearby. Looking to the future, she intends to keep writing, reading, and teaching about complex issues in order to better understand the human condition. About Marquis Who's Who®: Since 1899, when A. N. A Brand-New Mega Pokémon Just Got Announced for Legends: Z-A

Entertainment gossip and news from Newsweek's network of contributors The next main series Pokémon game, Pokémon Legends: Z-A, is just around the corner, and fans are very excited to see what new Pokémon the game has in store for players. While no entirely new Pokémon have been shown off, the game will be bringing back a fan favorite feature in Mega Evolution, which sees existing Pokémon getting temporary forms that push their power to the limit. A trainer in a helmet photographed next to the newly revealed Mega Victreebell in a promotional still for Pokémon Legends: Z-A A trainer in a helmet photographed next to the newly revealed Mega Victreebell in a promotional still for Pokémon Legends: Z-A The Pokémon Company Earlier this year, The Pokémon Company announced the first new Mega Pokémon in almost a decade, Mega Dragonite, and it's just revealed another. In a spooky CG-animated trailer, The Pokémon Company revealed the next Mega Pokémon set to be released in Pokémon Legends: Z-A, and it's a bit of a strange one: Mega Victreebell. Mega Victreebell sees the Grass and Poison-type Pokémon swell up to a massive size, becoming much rounder, much more dangerous, and frankly, much goofier. Little else is known about the new Mega Pokémon at this stage, and it's currently unknown how many other unrevealed Mega Pokémon are in the game — if any. We'd expect at least a few more to be announced before the game is released in October, but it's anyone's guess if or when that happens. The reveal comes shortly after the announcement that Pokémon Legends: Z-A will feature a four-player real-time competitive battle mode, with players able to compete against friends or random players both in-person and online. The mode uses a free-for-all scoring system, where the goal is to knock out as many Pokémon as possible, and whoever scores the most knockouts wins the match. Pokémon Legends: Z-A will be released on October 16, 2025, for Nintendo Switch and Switch 2.

Former ‘Home Improvement' star Patricia Richardson looks unrecognizable ahead of reunion with castmates

A former sitcom star might have fans doing a double-take when she reunites with her ex-castmates on the small screen this fall. 'Home Improvement' actress Patricia Richardson looks nearly unrecognizable since she portrayed Jill Taylor on the popular ABC sitcom starring Tim Allen throughout most of the '90s. The 74-year-old no longer has a chestnut brown bob, like the one she flaunted during the seven-time Emmy Award-winning show that followed the work and family life of Tim 'The Tool Man' Taylor. Richardson now rocks a head of shock white hair, which she started growing out during the COVID-19 pandemic. 'Ok here we have covid hair grow out,' she captioned in an Instagram post showing the stark difference between her dyed hair and white roots in Oct. 2020. 'Just don't want to cut it! So…. new covid fashion raccoon hair?' Fans flooded her comment section, cheering on her 'beautiful' and natural style which she seemingly kept over recent years. Richardson flaunted her white hair during a 2021 episode of 'NCIS' and also showed off her mane on the red carpet for the premiere of 'Chantilly Bridge' in March 2023 and during a SAG-AFTRA event in Los Angeles in December 2023. Richardson will soon reunite with her former 'Home Improvement' husband and some of her former co-stars during the Season 2 premiere of Allen's current ABC show, 'Shifting Gears,' according to a report by Deadline. 'Worlds are colliding,' the show confirmed on its official Instagram page. 'See Shifting Gears x Home Improvement on the October 1 season premiere!' The reunion comes over 25 years after 'Home Improvement' ended in 1999. Richard Karn, known for playing Al Borland in 'Home Improvement,' and Debbe Dunning, who portrayed 'Tool Time Girl' Heidi Keppert in the '90s show, will appear alongside Richardson in Allen's show about a widowed owner of a car restoration shop, the outlet reported. It's not been revealed which fictional roles the trio of guest stars will play in the upcoming premiere but the cast is supposed to help Allen's fictional character, Matt Parker, in an 'unexpected way,' per Deadline. The Season 2 premiere of 'Shifting Gears' won't be the first time Richardson has reunited with Allen, 72, on television. The four-time Emmy Award-nominee appeared as Helen Potts, an inconsiderate neighbor, in two episodes of his 'Last Man Standing' series in 2015 and 2016. Richardson has maintained her career since 'Home Improvement' ended. She portrayed Dr. Andy Campbell in dozens of episodes of 'Strong Medicine,' political strategist Sheila Brooks in 'The West Wing' and had a series of guest star roles on shows like 'Grey's Anatomy,' 'NCIS' and 'The Blacklist.'
