Foreigner suspected of molesting girl in Rawang arrested

The suspect has been remanded for three days for further investigation under Section 15(a)(1) of the Sexual Offences Against Children Act 2017.
KUALA LUMPUR - A foreign man who is suspected of molesting a teenage girl in Bukit Sentosa, Rawang recently has been arrested by the police yesterday.
Hulu Selangor district police chief Supt Ibrahim Husin said the man was arrested after the police received a report from the victim around 3pm Sunday.
"The suspect, 21, was arrested by the Hulu Selangor district police headquarters criminal investigation division thanks to a public tipoff,' he said in a statement, adding that the suspect did not have any prior records and tested negative for drugs.
The suspect has been remanded for three days for further investigation under Section 15(a)(1) of the Sexual Offences Against Children Act 2017, he added. - BERNAMA

She said they typically send lewd stickers as an initial 'joke' to test the victim's reaction. 'They slowly build trust, for example by giving compliments, promises of gifts, or sweet talk. 'Eventually, the suspects will request photos, videos or initiate sexual conversations. All of this happens in digital spaces that appear private, such as WhatsApp. 'Predators often target children because of their limited maturity, which makes it difficult for them to distinguish right from wrong or understand the consequences of certain actions,' she told Sinar on Thursday. She said such cases may involve several criminal offences, including communicating sexually with a child under the Sexual Offences Against Children Act 2017. She explained that this included any situation where someone sends sexually suggestive content in the form of text, images, videos or even lewd stickers without any response from the child. She stressed that parents must educate their children about digital boundaries. 'Monitor the apps they use and know who their digital friends are. Don't brush off lewd stickers as harmless jokes, this is often the gateway to sexual crimes. 'Don't be complacent about your child's digital environment because crimes today can happen without any physical contact. 'Lewd stickers, though seemingly trivial, can be the starting point for sexual abuse,' she added.

PUTRAJAYA, Aug 7 (Bernama) -- The Federal Court has set Aug 13 to deliver its verdict on the Attorney-General's Chambers' (AGC) appeal concerning the existence of a purported additional document that permitted Datuk Seri Najib Razak to serve the remainder of his prison sentence under house arrest. The former Prime Minister's counsel, Tan Sri Muhammad Shafee Abdullah, confirmed with Bernama the decision date. On July 9 this year, the Federal Court's three-member bench comprising Chief Judge of Malaya Tan Sri Hasnah Mohammed Hashim and Federal Court judges Datuk Zabariah Mohd Yusof and Datuk Hanipah Farikullah reserved their decision in the appeal. On April 28, the Federal Court granted leave to the Attorney-General to appeal against the Court of Appeal's decision concerning the alleged additional document linked to Najib. On Jan 6, in a 2-1 majority decision, the Court of Appeal remitted Najib's application on the purported existence of an additional document that allows him to serve the remainder of his six-year prison sentence under house arrest, to the High Court for determination on its merits. This decision overturned the earlier ruling of the High Court, which had dismissed Najib's application for leave to commence judicial review concerning the alleged document. Najib is currently serving a six-year custodial sentence for his conviction in the SRC International Sdn Bhd case, following the Federal Court's dismissal of both his appeal and subsequent review application. Over 500,000 Online Content Items Removed Since 2022 For Violating Laws
KUALA LUMPUR, Aug 7 (Bernama) -- More than 500,000 pieces of online content were removed by service providers between Jan 1, 2022, and Aug 1, 2025, for violating the law, the Dewan Rakyat was told today. Deputy Communications Minister Teo Nie Ching said the content taken down comprised 321,012 items related to gambling, 119,273 fraudulent content, 43,585 obscene, 35,420 involving bullying or sexual harassment, and 38,818 fake content. She said the content was removed at the request of the Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission (MCMC) for breaching the Communications and Multimedia Act 1998 (Act 588), other relevant laws, and the platform providers' community guidelines.
