Rojo, 35, has signed for Argentina top flight side Racing Club.
But he will not be allowed to display his full name on the back of his shirt, as he did at his previous clubs including United.
That is because the Avellaneda-based club are city rivals with Independiente, whose nickname is 'El Rojo', which means The Reds.
So Racing Club have forced the defender to drop the name as they do not want to promote their rivals.

Rojo has not taken long to find a new club after his contract was ripped up by Boca Juniors last week.
The former Argentina international has had his deal terminated by mutual consent after being banned from the dressing room and frozen out of the first team.
Rojo was involved in a bust-up behind the scenes and he and two team-mates were told they were no longer welcome at the club's Xeneiza training centre — not even in the locker room.
Rojo joined United in 2014 from Sporting in a £16million deal under Louis van Gaal.

Man Utd ‘hand Antony ultimatum to accept transfer offer this week or rot in stands as Real Betis hold out for loan deal'

Antony becomes the second Man Utd winger that could spend months away from the pitch this season DEAL WITH THE DEVILS Man Utd 'hand Antony ultimatum to accept transfer offer this week or rot in stands as Real Betis hold out for loan deal' MANCHESTER UNITED have reportedly handed Antony an ultimatum as they try and move the Brazilian on this summer. Antony is no longer part of the plans at Old Trafford after failing to impress following his £86million move from Ajax in 2022. 5 Manchester United have reportedly handed Antony a transfer ultimatum Credit: PA 5 Antony excelled while on loan at Real Betis last season Credit: Getty His failings in Manchester saw him shipped out on loan to Real Betis for the second half of last season, where he returned to form as one of their star players. Since then, Betis have been keen to re-sign the tricky winger, but don't appear to have the funds to make a permanent transfer happen at United's asking price. Reports in Spain claim that Antony is keen to move back to Betis too, but that the La Liga club have only discussed the idea of a loan switch rather than a permanent transfer. According to Spanish outlet Al Final de la Palmera, that has led Man Utd to hand Antony an ultimatum in order to prevent him waiting until the end of the window to force through a loan. Antony has been linked with a host of clubs this summer, including a switch to reunite with Erik ten Hag at Bayer Leverkusen in Germany. Manchester United declined to comment when approached by SunSport about the claims. And Fabrizio Romano has revealed Garnacho is prepared to stay at Old Trafford and not play if he does not get his desired move. 'Bring him back' - Antony needs another chance at Man Utd under Ruben Amorim, says club legend He told DAZN: "The message coming from the player is, Chelsea or nothing. "Chelsea or I stay here and I don't play football for the next six or 12 months." He adds Chelsea have stepped up talks for Garnacho, having already agreed personal terms. United initially set an asking price of £70million for the Argentina international. But despite interest from Chelsea and Napoli no bid has been forthcoming, leading the Red Devils to drop their price to £50m. 5 Alejandro Garnacho is trying to force through a move to Chelsea Credit: PA

Gary Neville makes underwhelming prediction for Man Utd's season after £200million transfer spree

Neville also gave his verdict on one factor that could help Man Utd's fortunes this season nev-er mind Gary Neville makes underwhelming prediction for Man Utd's season after £200million transfer spree GARY Neville believes Manchester United MUST buy a new goalkeeper to have ANY chance of a top six finish. But Neville, 50, is dismissive of United's prospects of coming close to the top of the tree this term. And he suggested that even earning Champions League football was out of the equation unless Ruben Amorim can land a new No 1. Neville said: 'For United, the top six would be healthy. 'We've gone past the point now where we say Manchester United have to win the league. That's unrealistic. Advertisement READ MORE ON MAN UTD FRANKLY SPEAKING Thomas Frank axes Tottenham ace from squad vs PSG for disciplinary reasons 'My feeling is probably seventh, eighth is where I'm looking at it now. 'But without Europe, they could get into the top six if they have a good run, if they get a goalkeeper. But a lot of things have to go their way.' Neville, whose criticisms of United last term grew increasingly strident as the club plunged to its worst top flight finish in half a century, feels the summer spending at the front end has made a difference. United, being linked with PSG gloveman Gianluigi Donnarumma - who is determined to quit the European champions - have splashed out £200m to land Matheus Cunha, Bryan Mbeumo and now Leipzig's Benjamin Sesko. Advertisement CASINO SPECIAL - BEST CASINO BONUSES FROM £10 DEPOSITS All three are set to start when United open their campaign against Arsenal on Sunday. Speaking at the Sky Sports season launch, Neville added: 'If you said to me after that Europa League Final defeat to Spurs that Manchester United would have a forward line of those three that they've signed, I'd take that, I'd have snapped your hand off. Gary Neville names four Man Utd stars who must leave this summer 'I didn't think they had £200 million to spend. Advertisement 'So the fact they've signed those three players is good. 'I like the profile of those players, whether they settle in now is obviously the big question. 'Two of them are proven Premier League players, although they've got to step up a level. 'Mbeumo is quite solid, he's robust, he's played at Premier League level. Advertisement 'He and Cunha know the Premier League, they've been to all the grounds, there's no shocks for them. 4 Man Utd have spent big this summer on Premier League proven talent such as Bryan Mbeumo and Matheus Cunha Credit: Getty 4 The addition of RB Leipzig's Benjamin Sesko last week took their spending for the window to over £200million Credit: Getty 'And Sesko up front. He's young, he's got potential but can he get off to a good start? That's important for him.' Advertisement He added: 'Can they embed themselves at United? Can they get the probably 35-40 goals which would be par for those three players? 'If they can get 40 goals - and United's goals total last season was terrible - they've got chance of getting into that top six. 'But they've got to settle those three players, and we can't take that for granted anymore at United, I don't think. 'United will be looking at Champions League, that'll be the ambition. Advertisement 'Not playing in Europe has to help, because there's basically more training time, less pressure on the players, less injuries. 'It means that the best players can play more often in the league, and not have those demands of a Thursday night game. 'But we've got to start the season well - and there are some tough fixtures early on.' Sky Sports and NOW will broadcast over 215 Premier League matches exclusively live this season
