Keith Andrews gives Kelleher fitness update ahead of Premier League opener
Caoimhin Kelleher is a doubt for Brentford's Premier League opener against Nottingham Forest on Sunday. The Ireland goalkeeper missed last weekend's pre-season friendly draw with Borussia Monchengladbach, although the nature of his injury was not disclosed. Speaking ahead of his first Premier League game in charge of the Bees, former Ireland coach Andrews admitted that the Corkman was touch and go. 'From the ones that missed last Friday, Caoimhín and Kevin Schade are back on the grass,' Andrews said. 'Whether they'll be ready, we'll see over the next day or so and make that decision. 'But, overall, we're in a pretty good place on that front.' Andrews added that he was pleased overall with his goalkeeping options - and that he was delighted to take over shortly after the arrival of a player he was very familiar with from his time as Stephen Kenny's assistant. 'The goalkeeping situation happened before I became head coach,' he said, 'but I'm happy with who we got in for obvious reasons. Caoimhin Kelleher is a goalkeeper I rate very highly.' Kelleher joined Brentford early in the summer from Liverpool for a fee that could rise to over €20million. He played 46 times for over the last two seasons for the Anfield side, where he played back-up to Brazil netminder Alisson. Roy Keane makes bleak Manchester United prediction
The Premier League is back this weekend and one team that will be sure to grab headlines is Manchester United. The Red Devils come into this season off the back of what was by far their worst season since 1974 when they got relegated from the old Division 1. The 15th-place finish on top of losing the Europa League Final to Tottenham Hotspur meant United will go into this coming season without European football. Despite all the doom and gloom surrounding United, it looks like there are some signs for United fans to be optimistic the months ahead. New signings Bryan Mbeumo, Benjamin Sesko and Matheus Cunha of Manchester United pose for a photo. Pic: Ben Roberts – Danehouse/Getty Images Ruben Amorim has laid down a marker this summer, identifying the four players he wanted rid of in Marcus Rashford, Alejandro Garnacho, Jadon Sancho and Antony and making sure the club brought in a new front three in the form of Matheus Cunha, Bryan Mbuemo and Benjamin Sesko. That, on top of renovating their Carrington training ground, has given Manchester United fans a lot of hope that last season's misery is now behind them. Bruno Fernandes. Pic:One man that has been happy with their summer business is former United captain Roy Keane. Speaking on Stick to Football , Keane said he was pleased with United identifying their need for attackers. 'They brought in a few attacking players who know the Premier League at least. To me, over the past few years, they were bringing in too many players who were trying to get used to the pace of the Premier League, they weren't robust enough. Pic: The Overlap/ YouTube 'There's a few signings that make you go 'Yeah, it looks a bit better.'' Keane added that United's 'summer has not been too bad for United, but the proof starts at the weekend.' Despite some optimism from the 54-year-old, Keane was quick to downplay where United would finish in the league and said that he still believed they have a good bit to go. Roy Keane: Pic: Brendan Moran/Sportsfile 'At best United for me, eighth or ninth, they still have a lot of problems, of course. Huge question marks… we will be here all day. They still have to sort out the goalkeeper situation and defensively. 'Don't be putting United in the bracket of Arsenal, Liverpool and Chelsea. They are not in that conversation.' Well, they'll be talked about with Arsenal a lot this weekend as they host the Gunners at Old Trafford in their first Premier League game of the season. The game kicks off at 4:30pm this coming Sunday.

Newcastle agree £40m fee for Aston Villa winger Jacob Ramsey
The 24-year-old is due to travel to the north east for a medical after a deal in the region of £40million was agreed, it is understood. The prospective sale of Ramsey, who has made 167 appearances at Villa Park, will represent pure profit for Villa, who are walking a UEFA financial fair play and PSR tightrope and need to sell. If the medical goes without problem and personal terms are agreed in the next 24 hours, Ramsey could be a Newcastle player by the time they visit Villa Park for Saturday lunchtime's Premier League opener. Villa boss Unai Emery is not expected to see much, if any, of the financial proceeds as the club's spending is under the close eye of UEFA after they were fined £9.5m for breaching regulations. They are keen on re-signing Paris St Germain midfielder Marco Asensio, who spent the second half of last season on loan. Ramsey's arrival at St James' Park will boost spirits after a difficult transfer window for Eddie Howe's side. They have signed Anthony Elanga and Malick Thiaw, with Aaron Ramsdale arriving on loan, but missed out on Benjamin Sesko, who chose to join Manchester United instead. The future of Alexander Isak also remains unclear following the Sweden international's desire to join Liverpool.
