Bentley Collector Completes Le Mans-Themed Garage with Bespoke Bentayga Apex Edition
Longtime Bentley collector Mark King has taken delivery of a Bespoke Bentayga Apex Edition by Mulliner, a vehicle that completes his one-of-a-kind Le Mans-inspired collection. The Northern Ireland-based enthusiast now owns a matching pair of Le Mans Collection Bentleys, with the Bentayga joining his 2023 Continental GT Le Mans Collection in the same Verdant Green and Moonbeam livery.
The Bentayga Apex Edition is one of just 20 examples worldwide, hand-built by Mulliner and exclusively available to owners of the Le Mans Collection Continental GT or GT Convertible. This pairing marks the 20th anniversary of Bentley's 2003 Le Mans victory, which ended the brand's 73-year hiatus from the winner's circle at the prestigious endurance race.
King's Bentley collection reflects his deep appreciation for the brand's high-performance and luxury vehicles. His latest Apex Edition Bentayga joins an already impressive lineup, including a Bentayga Speed, Continental GT3-R, and a Continental Flying Spur. Known for using his Bentleys extensively, King has logged over 100,000 miles in his Bentayga Speed, often using it to transport other vehicles in his collection.
His decision to commission the Le Mans Collection Continental GT in 2023 made him an ideal candidate for the matching Apex Edition Bentayga. Bentley's exclusive offer to existing Le Mans Collection owners made the decision easy, and King was quick to secure his place among the 20 recipients.
The Apex Edition Bentayga: Performance Meets Heritage
Based on the Bentayga S, the Apex Edition is the most dynamic iteration of Bentley's SUV yet. Powered by a 4.0-liter twin-turbocharged V8, it delivers 542 horsepower (550 PS) and 568 lb-ft (770 Nm) of torque, propelling the luxury SUV from 0 to 60 mph in just 4.4 seconds.
Performance enhancements include:
Bentley Dynamic Ride for improved handling
Rear-wheel steering for agility
22-inch Mulliner carbon wheels, reducing unsprung mass by 44 kg
Carbon-ceramic brakes for superior stopping power
Le Mans-inspired livery, exclusive to owners of the Continental GT Le Mans Collection
This Bentayga not only offers enhanced handling but also maintains Bentley's signature luxury with an interior crafted from Beluga hide and Dinamica fabric, accented by contrast Hotspur stitching.
King's Le Mans Collection Continental GT, introduced in 2023, was built to honor Bentley's six victories at Le Mans. Inspired by the #7 Speed 8, which took the checkered flag in 2003, the GT features:
Verdant Green exterior with Blackline accents
Painted #7 grille in Arctica White
Carbon-ceramic brakes with red calipers
22-inch ten-spoke black wheels
A special inlaid emblem commemorating Bentley's six Le Mans wins
A standout feature of all Le Mans Collection Bentleys is the Rotating Display, which includes a vitrine containing a real engine valve from the 2003 Speed 8 race car—a tangible connection to Bentley's racing legacy.
With this Le Mans-inspired Bentayga Apex Edition, Mark King's collection now stands as one of the most exclusive Bentley stables in the world, blending performance, history, and bespoke craftsmanship.

Bentley Rebounding From Tariff Uncertainty to Seize the Sales Moment
Based on facts, either observed and verified firsthand by the reporter, or reported and verified from knowledgeable sources. Automakers across the globe are struggling to balance the uncertainty surrounding the Trump Administration's evolving tariff negotiations. Bentley Motors, based in the U.K., has a clearer picture than most thanks to a deal agreed to in May and an executive order signed by President Trump in June. Bentley's U.S. business is bouncing back following the deal. "It's obviously been an interesting year," Michael Rocco, president and CEO of Bentley Americas, told Newsweek at The Quail, A Motorsports Gathering. "We're, I would say, in a better place than most countries [because of] negotiating the 10 percent tariff with the UK. But in doing so, we paused wholesales coming in for 90 days [before the deal]." During the uncertainty, vehicles shipped from the U.K. were subject to a 27.5 percent tariff. That 90-day pause allowed Bentley dealers across the U.S. to sell through the inventory they had on hand. But, Rocco is clear: "We didn't have enough cars on the ground, and we missed sales opportunities because of that." Bentley Continental GT Speed wearing the new Ombre by Mulliner finish. Bentley Continental GT Speed wearing the new Ombre by Mulliner finish. Bentley Motors When the company was able to resume shipments, it gave dealers access to a product lineup that had been enhanced in recent months. "July was really the first month we started wholesaling a lot of cars to the dealers, which they needed, and it was refreshing for them now that they have new products in the market," Rocco said. In 2024, Bentley sold just over 10,000 vehicles across the world, around 3,000 fewer than the year before as the company transitioned its lineup to new models. The U.S. was the company's strongest sales region. The automaker's refreshed lineup includes the well-received Bentley Continental GT Speed coupé, enhanced Flying Spur sedans and the new Bentayga Speed SUV. And, Bentley opened two new retail locations, in Santa Barbara, California, and San Antonio, Texas. While that lineup is enticing customers, Rocco is seeing the luxury market beginning to hold back from shelling out on big purchases. In June, Bain & Company, in partnership with Altagamma, said the personal luxury goods market is likely to shrink by 2 to 5 percent in 2025, the most probable scenario, marking the industry's first slowdown since the 2008-09 financial crisis, excluding the COVID-19 period. "Right now, there's hesitancy in the market. But the good news for us is our full range of cars are now here... So we're in a good place, but it's been challenging with the unforeseen disruptions, the things that we cannot control... [it] makes the market, makes the industry a little bit more difficult," he said. But Rocco likes his company's chances. "We see the playbook. Now we need to execute. I still believe the next couple of months there's going to be uncertainty. I do believe the fourth quarter will be strong, and it always is," he said. Bentley's fourth quarter business relies heavily on snowbird traffic, those making their way from northern states to the warmer climates of Florida, where they then purchase a new luxury car. Florida's our largest market, those people will come back to Florida. But, I do see the fourth quarter, being stronger and improving. There's always the discussion about [interest] rate cuts, the things we can't control. But the good news [is that we have a] full line of product... Our dealers are very encouraged with, you know, with where we're going in the future," he continued.

Gordon Murray Special Vehicles Unveils S1 LM at Monterey Car Week
Summary Gordon MurraySpecial Vehicles (GMSV) has launched its first commission, the S1 LM, duringMonterey Car Week2025. Limited to just five units, the road-legal supercar pays tribute to Murray's landmark 1995 Le Mans victory while embodying his design philosophy of lightweight engineering and timeless beauty. The S1 LM features a newly lowered roofline and full carbon fiber bodywork with Le Mans-inspired aero, including a splitter, diffuser and dual-element rear wing. At its core is a bespoke 4.3-liter V12 producing more than 690 hp, capable of revving to 12,100 rpm. Paired with a manual gearbox derived from the T.50s and a bespoke Inconel exhaust wrapped in 18-karat gold shielding, the engine delivers both extreme responsiveness and a distinct race-bred sound. Inside, a central driving position anchors a cockpit defined by minimalist architecture and lightweight materials, emphasizing Murray's principle of 'engineering art.' Suspension geometry, bespoke dampers and a solid-mounted engine sharpen the driving experience, connecting the driver directly to the machine. Professor Gordon Murray described the S1 LM as 'timeless and beautiful,' highlighting its balance and proportion over outlandish design trends. Built by GMSV's Bespoke division, the five cars are already spoken for, with first deliveries expected in 2026.

Gordon Murray Essentially Resurrected the F1 GTR—And It's Perfect
Gordon Murray Automotive is getting into the business of ultra-low-volume specials. A growing trend in the ultra-exotic space, the S1 LM is the first product, alongside the Le Mans GTR, to emerge from the company's "Special Vehicles" subsidiary, and just about the coolest thing to come from Monterey Car Week. Based on the bones of the T.50, GMA describes the S1 LM as having "a hardcore track-first set-up" that "pays homage to the ageless beauty of Murray's original Le Mans-winning design." Photo by: Gordon Murray Automotive The S1 LM reimagines several of the Le Mans-winning F1 GTR's design elements, like the roof-mounted intake and a centrally mounted quad exhaust, while adding items such as a split rear wing. From some angles, it looks identical to the car that took victory 30 years ago. The S1 LM is a track car first, according to GMA, with a new, stiffer suspension and a solidly mounted engine. The sizable splitter, paired with that wing and a large diffuser, promises real downforce. Like all GMA road cars, the S1 LM will have a naturally aspirated V-12 and a six-speed manual transmission. This one's been punched up to 4.3 liters, with the company estimating a power output of over 690 horsepower. GMA plans to build just five examples of the S1 LM, with all five going to a single client "for an undisclosed price." We wouldn't be surprised to see if someone is trying to start their own miniature racing series with their friends. Hell, that's what I'd do if I had that kind of money. Deliveries are set to begin in 2026. Of course, it won't be the last few off from the brand. "GMSV allows us to explore these core trends, fuelled by the enthusiasm and imagination of our customers. We are already working on more models and look forward to partnering with the world's most passionate driving enthusiasts to create more automotive works of art." 26 Source: Gordon Murray Automotive More From Gordon Murray Gordon Murray Is Developing a New Lightweight Platform for EVs Have a Bunch of Money?
