Montreal-Trudeau Airport is heading into major construction and it's going to get messy
Montreal-Trudeau Airport has officially kicked off a major renovation phase, with construction and expansion projects now underway.
According to Aéroports de Montréal, the extensive work will continue into the 2030s, affecting nearly every part of the airport, from roadways and runways to parking lots.
Major projects are on the horizon at YUL to keep pace with rising passenger demand and significant business growth.
By 2028, travellers can expect expanded local parking, a new satellite jetty, revamped drop-off zones, the opening of the REM station, and the demolition of the current multi-level garage.
When will the Montreal-Trudeau Airport construction be finished?
The full vision, set to wrap up by 2035, includes additional parking and drop-off areas and a major terminal façade expansion.
Planning a trip soon? Travellers, be warned.
Montreal-Trudeau shared a statement in this Facebook post, comparing the project to an airport-sized kitchen renovation:
"We're not going to sugarcoat it: the next few years at YUL are going to be a puzzle. Like renovating your kitchen while still living in your house, but airport-sized. But don't worry, we'll get through it together, step by step, piece by piece. To make it easier, whenever you see this purple and this green pop up in your feed, you'll instantly know it's related to the ongoing work at YUL."
Travellers were urged to look for updates on their Instagram and web pages for updates, before adding:
"It might get a little messy before it gets beautiful. But trust us, it's gonna look amazing when it's done!"
On June 9, 2025, another Facebook post shared a message regarding express drop-off areas:
"This summer, temperatures (and traffic) are set to reach their peak at YUL. So, don't get your left arm roasted for nothing, and drive straight to one of our two Express Drop-off areas (one at P4 and the other at P10). You'll avoid traffic jams, frustrations, and sunburns. Trust us: this summer, use the Express Drop-off areas."
Will the Montréal REM go to the airport?
Here's what travellers can expect between now and 2028:
A new REM light rail station (YUL-Aéroport-Montréal-Trudeau) opening in 2027
A complete revamp of the parking system, including the demolition of the current multilevel garage
Roadway upgrades to better handle rising passenger traffic
The launch of major southern terminal expansion work
Then, starting in 2035, the Destination 2035 master plan kicks into high gear with:
A brand-new P5 parking facility offering over 6,000 spaces
The full demolition and rebuild of existing boarding gates

The pair were also spotted wandering through the back streets of Rome — with Harry carrying a bottle of wine. A source said: 'Harry loves nothing more than showing people his favourite spots in Italy. 'He also loves art and Kim has been a great source of inspiration.' Kim, who grew up in Antwerp, Belgium, has shared pictures on her Instagram of The Loggia Of Cupid And Psyche — a mural depicting a love affair — at the Villa Farnesina in Rome. She also posted snaps of red peppers drying on a rooftop in Ravello on Italy's Amalfi Coast. It comes as Harry is rumoured to have fallen in love with the small Italian village of Civita di Bagnoregio. The Watermelon Sugar hitmaker spent the pandemic learning Italian and sign language. During his final Love On Tour show in Reggio Emilia, Italy, in 2023, Harry thanked 120,000 fans in Italian. Speaking in their language, he said: 'The last two years of my life have been a wonderful gift and it is truly very special to end my tour here, in a country that has a special place in my heart.' Harry Styles' mystery woman revealed after Glastonbury snog - and she's VERY different to the women he's dated before In June, the singer was seen sharing a passionate kiss with producer Ella Kenny at Glastonbury Festival. It came after his relationship with actress Taylor Russell ended in May last year. He was seen kissing model Emily Ratajkowski on a night out in 2023 and has previously dated model Kendall Jenner, singer Taylor Swift and actress Olivia Wilde. Last month, Harry launched his own vibrating sex toy and lubricant through his lifestyle brand, Pleasing. Alongside his new passion as a tour guide, it seems that Harry has many strings to his bow. HEIDI READY FOR SUGA HIT ON TV 8 Heidi Range will recount her days in the pop group Sugababes Credit: Getty HEIDI RANGE is set to lift the lid on her tumultuous time in the Sugababes in explosive BBC documentary Girlbands Forever. The singer will sit down with interviewer Louis Theroux to recount her days in the pop group, which has had six members over the years, including the original (and current) line-up of Mutya Buena, Keisha Buchanan and Siobhan Donaghy, as well as former members Jade Ewen and Amelle Berrabah. A source close to the project, which follows last year's Boybands Forever, said: 'Heidi has never spoken about what went on. 'Louis reached out to her directly and she finally agreed to take part a couple of weeks ago. It was an emotional interview and one that viewers will want to watch.' Last year, the Sugababes were handed a gong at the Mobo Awards, but Heidi's mum hit out after her daughter was 'white-washed' from the nomination video. She wrote on Instagram: 'I can't believe the cheek of it. Sugababes didn't have a hit till Heidi joined. It is so false and disrespectful the way they are carrying on.' Mutya hit back: 'When I wasn't in the group and the girls was doing big things without me, do you think I was getting upset about not being mentioned?' A spokesman for the original trio declined to comment. Forget the Suga – things might be about to turn very sour again. Earlier this year, Amy scooped the Grammy Award for Songwriter Of The Year – the first woman to win the gong since its introduction in 2023. PUB JOB FOR SAM BEFORE rising to fame on Eurovision in 2022, Sam Ryder started out singing in boozers – and now he has been appointed Head of Gigs for Greene King Pubs to help support up-and-coming artists. Sam, who dropped new single The Feeling Never Went Away from his upcoming album Heartland on Friday, said: 'Pubs provided a place for me to actually learn how to play in front of people. 'Before the pub stage, you just played guitar in your bedroom as loud as it could go. 'At pubs, you got the chance to hone your craft and learn different songs, create a little catalogue, get the expertise of actually playing in front of people.' I couldn't agree more, Sam. She wrote: 'Predisposed to getting this trapped nerve in my back. 'It happens mostly in the winter when I'm cold and all hunched over and tight. 'It obviously happened in the trek last week. And I'm just feeling it now because my body has relaxed for the first time in a week. But I can barely bloody move.' Vicky — crowned Queen of the Jungle on ITV's I'm A Celeb in 2015 — is resting and trying to ensure she is fit enough for costume fitting and early filming this month. A pal revealed: 'Vicky wants to give Strictly her best shot and is taking it easy for the next few weeks so her trapped nerve doesn't rear its head when she is in the training room. 'She's really fit and healthy but she doesn't want a pre-existing injury to give her a handicap. 'It's her lifelong dream to be taking part — and she wants to make the most of it.' Vicky undertook her charity trek with pals including former Strictly contestant Pete Wicks, 36. And she insisted: 'This wasn't a jolly. This was three days of steep inclines and intense descents. She said: 'I've done my fair share of reality TV and I would never say never to anything. 'You know this is my job and it is an incredible platform. But I'm not a dancer — I'm not a dancer at all.' The Sun on Sunday approached Vicky's spokesman for comment. Other stars taking part in the new Strictly include Dani Dyer, EastEnders actress Balvinder Sopal, ex-Chelsea star Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink, model Ellie Goldstein, ex-Neighbours actor Stefan Dennis and Gladiators star Harry Aikines-Aryeetey.

Plus, B&Q is selling a £120 barbecue for just £36, and it even has a secret compartment to make cleaning it a doddle. A £3.50 disposable barbecue is perfect for camping and summer evenings. Three camping tips from an expert David Scotland owns camping equipment retailer Outdoor World Direct and knows all about how to make a camping trip run smoothly. When visiting any campsite this summer it's important to make sure you're not making simple mistakes that could ruin your holiday. Check your tent David recommends putting your tent up a couple of weeks before you're due to travel to give you enough time to repair or replace any damaged parts. He told Sun Online Travel: 'You'd be surprised how many people turn up with broken tents." Test the ground Picking a good spot to pitch your tent is difficult, with lots of things to consider. One of those should be the condition of the ground you're putting your tent on top of, according to David. He said: 'Once you've found the perfect spot, test the ground with your pegs before you commit to camping there to make sure the ground is soft enough." Don't nap in your tent It may seem the perfect place for it, but a nap in a tent could end badly, if it's done at the wrong time of the day. David explained: "If the sun's shining and it's hot inside your tent - don't do it! "One of our friends nodded off in his tent during a heatwave at Glastonbury and ended up at the medical tent with heatstroke." Instead, he recommends finding some shade outside or somewhere well ventilated. More camping buys And a round-up of camping buys that have been tried and tested for festivals and family holidays. Plus, Aldi shoppers are flocking to the middle aisle for bargain camping and festival gear. Or you can nab the deals at the cheapest shops to buy festival and camping essentials. And Argos is selling a six-person tent for £364 cheaper than North Face's version. Plus, an £18 tent that's available for £200 less than North Face's version.
