Shah's Nagpur visit: 600 cops to be deployed, strict anti-sabotage protocols in place

Nagpur: Union home minister Amit Shah will perform the bhoomipuja and lay the foundation stone for the permanent campus of the National Forensic Sciences University (NFSU) in Nagpur.
The event will also include the virtual inauguration of the university's transit campus. Shah will also perform the bhoomipuja for Swasti Niwas, a residential facility for cancer patients and their caregivers at the National Cancer Institute.
Around 600 personnel, including city police, home guards, and the State Reserve Police Force, have been deployed for Shah's visit. Sources stated that strict anti-sabotage checks and other protocols are being implemented.
In light of a threat mail intercepted by intelligence agencies, the city police have taken additional security measures for chief minister Devendra Fadnavis. Special intelligence units, the State ATS, and other covert security mechanisms have been activated.
A senior official confirmed that strict access control protocols have been established at the event venue.
The new NFSU campus is being developed at Chicholi in Nagpur on a 50-acre land parcel allotted by the Maharashtra govt.

This will be the 11th NFSU campus and the first in the Vidarbha. Several senior leaders and dignitaries, including CM Fadnavis, Union minister Nitin Gadkari, revenue minister Chandrashekhar Bawankule, Union home secretary Govind Mohan, Maharashtra chief secretary Sujata Saunik, and NFSU vice-chancellor Dr JM Vyas are expected to attend the ceremony.
Headquartered in Gandhinagar, Gujarat, NFSU is the world's first and only university dedicated to forensic and investigative sciences.
The Nagpur campus will begin operations in the academic year 2025–26, offering five courses in forensic sciences and cybersecurity.
Officials stated that the campus will play a crucial role in training skilled forensic professionals and supporting law enforcement agencies through scientific crime investigation, thereby contributing to faster and more accurate delivery of justice.
The Ministry of Home Affairs has sanctioned a grant of ₹120 crore for the Nagpur sub-centre, to be disbursed over 2025–2028. While construction begins at the permanent site in Chicholi, the campus will initially function from the Bharosa Cell office located at Parsodi–Subhash Nagar.

Taking to X, the Jammu and Kashmir CM wrote, 'Visited the tallest railway bridge in the world, The Chenab Bridge, to review arrangements for the visit of the Hon PM @narendramodi ji tomorrow. Tomorrow is a landmark day for J&K when, finally, the valley will be connected to the rest of the country by a railway link to be inaugurated at the hands of the Hon PM.' He also shared multiple images and videos of the Chenab bridge. Along with Union Minister Jitendra Singh, Omar Abdullah also inspected the Katra railway station and the Vande Bharat train, which will be flagged off by PM Modi on Friday. He said, as quoted by ANI, "If I tell you that I have been waiting for this moment for a long time, it will still not be enough. This rail project began when I was in the 7th or 8th class. Now, even my children have started working after completing school and college. But, better late than PM will inaugurate the Vande Bharat services and it will benefit highway gets blocked, the airlines start selling tickets of ₹ 5,000 for ₹ 20,000, such issues will be solved from now on." "This project has set many records. The Chenab Bridge is higher than the Eiffel Tower. Anji Khad Bridge is the longest cable-stayed railway bridge in the country. There are many tunnels between Katra and Banihal. The project will be boost for economy and tourism. Now it will take 4 hours from Srinagar to Katra. We will ensure successful Amarnath Yatra," he added. The world's tallest railway bridge, Chenab Bridge, stands 359 meters above mean sea level. It will connect Jammu and Srinagar. At an estimated cost of over ₹ 43,000 crore, the USBRL project involved laying out ballastless tracks over bridges and tunnels, spanning deep gorges. Ninety per cent of the route was traversed over 943 bridges and 36 main tunnels, including India's longest railway tunnel, T-50, which stretched more than 12.7 km. Also, on the Katra-Banihal section, the Vande Bharat train will also traverse another engineering marvel: the Anji Khad bridge, India's first cable-stayed bridge. Supported by 96 cables, the 725-meter-long bridge stands 331 meters above mean sea level.

In a tragic incident, an Indian student pursuing MBBS in Vietnam lost his life in a deadly bike crash in Can Tho city. The deceased, identified as 21-year-old Arshid Ashrith, was a third-year MBBS student. The incident took place on Wednesday when Arshid was speeding on a bike along with a friend. He lost control and the two-wheeler crashed straight into a wall. His friend has suffered critical injuries. The accident was caught on CCTV camera. The footage showed a calm neighbourhood, then a speeding two wheeler crashes into the wall. The impact of the crash was such that the two riders flung into the air. Ashrith orginally hailed from Kumuram Bheem Asifabad district in Telangana. His parents Arshid Arjun and Pratima are cloth merchants. According to media reports, MLA Dr P Harish Babu visited Ashrith's residence in Kumuram Bheem Asifabad and expressed condolences to his heartbroken parents. Harish also spoke to Union Minister G Kishan Reddy over the phone, urging him to facilitate the repatriation of Ashrith's body to India. On Monday, a businessman was killed and two people were critically injured in a road accident in Chhattisgarh's Bilaspur. The driver of an Innova opened the door of the vehicle moving at 100 kilometres per hour to spit gutka, causing the vehicle to flip over and crash, the Times of India reported. The accident took place on the Bilaspur-Raipur highway on Monday. The Innova overturned multiple times on the road, hitting two vehicles and also injuring one of its drivers. According to the ToI report citing police, the deceased has been identified as 31-year-old Jackie Gehi, a cloth merchant from Chakarbhatha on the outskirts of Bilaspur. His friend Akash Chandani was driving the vehicle. He suddenly opened the door while driving to spit gutkha. Instantly, he lost control of the car, which swerved into the divider and overturned multiple times. The force of the impact was so high that it threw all three passengers out of the vehicle, which went somersaulting down the highway.

There would be ease of travel and ease of business. Within 3 hours, you can reach Srinagar from here. The rush on the highway will reduce. This will become a part of Viksit Bharat.' The Northern Railway on Thursday announced the commencement of regular services of the Vande Bharat Express trains between Srinagar and Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Katra starting June 7. The services will operate six days a week, enhancing connectivity between the Kashmir Valley and the prominent pilgrimage destination. Two pairs of Vande Bharat Express trains, Train Nos. 26404/26403 and 26401/26402 were introduced on the Srinagar-Katra-Srinagar route, with an intermediate halt at Banihal. The trains were set to operate six days a week, excluding Wednesdays. (ANI)
