Google Pixel 10 Pro XL leaks in full glory two weeks before Made by Google event: Check details

India Today5 days ago
Google's next big smartphone launch is just around the corner, but it seems that by the time the event takes place, there won't be any surprises left. The Pixel 10 Pro XL, the largest model in the upcoming Pixel 10 series, has surfaced online in high-quality images barely a fortnight before its official unveiling at the Made by Google event on August 20, 2025. The pictures, courtesy of WinFuture, give a clear look at what to expect from Google's top-tier device this year. advertisementFrom the looks of it, the Pixel 10 Pro XL features a polished metal frame along with the trademark pill-shaped rear camera bar. The renders have leaked in two colours: Moonstone and Obsidian. The device is also rumoured to come in two more finishes: Porcelain, which is a returning shade from the Pixel 9 Pro XL, and Jade, which stands out for its soft pistachio green with a soft gold metal rail. The device will likely arrive with a 6.8-inch AMOLED display, the new Google Tensor G5 processor and a 5,200mAh battery. It's expected to carry a starting price of 1,299 Euros (roughly Rs 1,32,500) in Germany. The Pixel 10 Pro XL doesn't stray far from the series' familiar design language, but there are refinements. The corners are smoothly rounded, the bezels are narrow and symmetrical, and the front features a central hole-punch selfie camera. The rear camera module still houses a 50-megapixel primary sensor, a 48-megapixel ultra-wide and a 48-megapixel telephoto lens, alongside the infrared temperature sensor first introduced in the Pixel 8 Pro. The phone is expected to ship with 16GB RAM and at least 256GB of storage, with higher options of up to 1TB also in the works.
It's not just about the Pixel 10 Pro XL, though. The broader Pixel 10 series will also bring notable changes. The standard Pixel 10 could be the first standard model to feature a triple rear camera setup — reportedly a 48-megapixel primary snapper, a 12-megapixel ultra-wide and finally, a 10.8-megapixel telephoto lens — something previously reserved only for the Pro models. It's also tipped to get new colour options like Indigo, Frost and Limoncello, replacing three shades of last year's Pixel 9.Alongside the Pixel 10 Pro XL, the Pixel 10 Pro will likely stick with a 6.3-inch display but still offer the same Tensor G5 chip, Android 16 out of the box and Google's latest AI features. All three models are expected to feature LTPO AMOLED screens with dynamic refresh rates of up to 120Hz and brightness levels of up to 3,000 nits. One device missing from the August launch will be the Pixel 10 Pro Fold, which is reportedly delayed. That foldable — expected to be showcased at the August 20 event — is said to bring a slightly larger 6.4-inch cover screen, slimmer bezels and a bigger battery when it eventually arrives. Still, the Pixel 10, Pixel 10 Pro and Pixel 10 Pro XL look all set to hit shelves before the end of the month.- Ends

High school maths trumps Olympiad gold medalist AI models: Google Deepmind CEO answers why

Google Deepmind chief executive Demis Hassabis said that advanced AI models like Gemini can surpass benchmarks like the International Mathematical Olympiad (IMO) but struggle with basic high school maths problems due to inconsistencies. "The lack of consistency in AI is a major barrier to achieving artificial general intelligence (AGI), " he said on the "Google for Developers" podcast, adding that it is a major roadblock in the journey. Artificial general intelligence, or AGI, is generally understood as software that has the general cognitive abilities of human beings and can perform any task that a human can. He also referred to Google CEO Sundar Pichai's description of the current state of AI as "AJI", or artificial jagged intelligence, where systems excel in certain tasks but fail in others. Road towards AGI The Deepmind CEO said just increasing data and computing power won't suffice to solve the problem at highlighted that rigorous testing and challenging benchmarks can precisely measure an AI model's accurate progress."We need better testing and new, more challenging benchmarks to determine precisely what the models excel at and what they don't." Who Is Aravind Srinivas? Meet Perplexity CEO Behind $34.5 Billion Bid For Google Chrome

He co-founded Perplexity AI in 2022 alongside Denis Yarats, Johnny Ho, and Andy Konwinski. An Indian-origin tech entrepreneur is making waves across the tech world after making an audacious offer to acquire Google Chrome. Aravind Srinivas, CEO of the AI startup Perplexity, recently sent a letter to Google CEO Sundar Pichai on August 12, proposing an all-cash acquisition of the popular web browser, as reported by Reuters. In a bold and unexpected move, Srinivas' company has offered a staggering $34.5 billion to purchase Google Chrome, despite Perplexity AI reportedly being valued at around $18 billion. The unsolicited bid, which significantly overshoots the company's own valuation, has sparked surprise and curiosity across the global tech landscape. Srinivas, 31, was born and raised in Chennai, India. A graduate of IIT Madras, he later pursued higher education at the University of California, Berkeley. He co-founded Perplexity AI in 2022 alongside Denis Yarats, Johnny Ho, and Andy Konwinski. The company's core product is an AI-powered search engine designed to deliver direct, conversational answers using real-time information, positioning itself as a potential challenger to traditional search engines like Google. Before launching Perplexity, Srinivas accumulated valuable experience in the AI and tech ecosystem, having previously worked at Google, and collaborated with influential AI researcher Yoshua Bengio. These formative roles helped shape his expertise in search and information retrieval technologies, which are now at the heart of his company's mission. The timing of the bid is noteworthy. Google is currently facing legal challenges following a major antitrust ruling in the United States. A US District Judge recently ruled that Google had maintained its search monopoly through illegal practices, including paying billions to remain the default search option on devices and browsers. Google has announced plans to appeal, but the litigation process could take years. So far, Google has not issued a public response to Srinivas' acquisition offer. While Perplexity has only raised around $1 billion to date, it claims that multiple investment firms have offered to fully fund the proposed deal. However, the company has not disclosed the names of these potential financiers. Whether Google will entertain the proposal remains unclear, but the bid has already placed Aravind Srinivas and Perplexity AI firmly in the global spotlight. view comments First Published: Disclaimer: Comments reflect users' views, not News18's. Google Teases Pixel 10 Pro Fold Ahead of August 20 Launch: Sleeker Design, Bigger Battery, and New Colours

Google has officially unveiled the first glimpse of its upcoming foldable flagship — the Pixel 10 Pro Fold. The teaser comes just a week ahead of its grand launch on August 20, offering fans an early look at the next-generation device's refined design and updated features. Posted on Google's official Made by Google YouTube channel, the short video showcases the Pixel 10 Pro Fold from multiple angles without delving into technical details. The teaser briefly shows the phone in its unfolded state, revealing the expansive inner display, and closes with a shot of someone picking it up, giving a partial look at the sides. Viewers also get a clear view of the rear camera array, which stays true to Google's signature horizontal camera bar design — a hallmark of the Pixel series — albeit with subtle refinements. The showcased variant in the teaser is finished in the rumoured Moonstone shade, a sophisticated blend of slate blue and grey. Reports suggest a second option called Jade, a muted pistachio green complemented by a soft gold frame, will also be available. Both finishes are expected to extend to other models in the Pixel 10 family. Design tweaks this year include a slightly larger 6.4-inch cover display — up from last year's 6.3 inches — achieved through slimmer bezels, making the device more immersive without increasing bulk. Rumours also point to a 5,015mAh battery, a bump that could translate into better day-long endurance. Charging speeds are also expected to improve slightly, with 23W wired charging and 15W wireless charging using the newer Qi2 standard. Under the hood, leaks suggest the Pixel 10 Pro Fold will run on Google's new Tensor G5 chip, manufactured on TSMC's 3nm process. This move could bring improvements in power efficiency, heat control, and performance, potentially giving the device an edge in sustained workloads and battery longevity. While Google has yet to confirm these technical details, multiple credible leaks have pointed to their accuracy. The Pixel 10 Pro Fold will debut alongside the rest of the Pixel 10 lineup — the Pixel 10, Pixel 10 Pro, and Pixel 10 Pro XL. Each will follow a similar design language, with the standard Pixel 10 expected to sport brighter colourways such as Indigo and Limoncello. The Pixel 10 Pro XL is tipped to push storage capacity to 1TB, making it an option for heavy users. Google's launch event on August 20 will detail full specifications, pricing, and regional availability. Pre-orders are likely to open immediately after the reveal, with shipping expected to begin around August 28. While the steady flow of leaks means fans may not be in for too many surprises, the official unveiling will mark the first time all of Google's 2025 flagship devices are shown in action together — a moment many tech enthusiasts have been eagerly awaiting.
