The shocking incident happened around nightfall, catching neighbours off guard. The suspects broke down the door and threatened the woman before forcing her to go with them. Her sudden disappearance left friends and family members and residents in fear and confusion.
It is understood that after receiving a ransom demand, the woman's family managed to negotiate with the kidnappers and later paid a ransom for her release.

The family was abducted from their home in Mareseleng village on Tuesday by three armed suspects. Police said during the early hours of Tuesday, a case of kidnapping involving a family was reported from Mareseleng village, under the Burgersfort policing area, in Sekhukhune District. The provincial commissioner of police in Limpopo, Lieutenant General Thembi Hadebe, immediately directed an intensified investigation to apprehend the suspects involved. 'Preliminary investigations reveal that three unidentified suspects, dressed in balaclavas and armed with firearms, forcibly entered the victims' residence. They found a man, his wife, and their two minor children sleeping in the same bedroom, threatened and tied them up before kidnapping them,' said provincial police spokesperson, Colonel Malesela Ledwaba. The assailants then fled the scene with the four family members, bundling them in the couple's white Volkswagen Polo hatchback. A kidnapping case was opened at the Burgersfort police station. 'According to a report, members of a certain family were asleep in the house when they were awakened by a noise, and only to realise that there were armed suspects who had already entered the house somehow,' said Mdhluli. 'It is further said that these suspects became very aggressive while they held the victims at gunpoint. In the process, the suspects ordered the victims to remain calm and threatened to kill them if they did not comply.' The assailants reportedly took the victims' belongings, then demanded car keys for the Toyota Fortuner in the yard. After loading the stolen items into the vehicle, the family members were then forced into the vehicle with their one-year-old baby.

Drugs, weapons, and liquor seized as SAPS intensifies ongoing metro-wide operation
Police arrested 356 suspects on the weekend during Operation Shanela in Atteridgeville. The August 2 operation, aimed at increasing police visibility and restoring order, focused on the Atteridgeville policing precinct and surrounding areas. 'The joint efforts of this team yielded significant results, with 356 suspects arrested for various criminal offences. This outcome is a direct reflection of thorough planning, targeted deployments, and sustained visibility intended to suppress crime and track wanted suspects in identified areas,' said police spokesperson, Captain Johan Van Dyk. Tshwane District detectives launched the first phase of the operation by arresting 260 suspects, including 65 for gender-based violence-related (GBV) offences, three for murder, three for attempted murder, six for armed robbery, one for perjury, three for possession of unlicensed firearms, and six for rape. The second phase of the operation, executed by uniformed officers, involved a roadblock within the precinct, supported by two operational teams deployed across the area. As a result, 34 undocumented foreign nationals were detained and are currently being processed by immigration authorities for court appearances and deportation, with one person being fined for employing illegal immigrants. In total, 1 240 individuals and 518 vehicles were searched, with three vehicles being verified to determine whether they were stolen. This resulted in the recovery of a motor vehicle that was reported stolen earlier at Pretoria Central SAPS. Police arrested 37 people for driving under the influence of alcohol. One vehicle was confiscated due to non-compliance with the Road Traffic Act and 60 Aarto infringement notices were issued, amounting to R30 000. Targeted patrols and searches were also carried out at 25 identified crime hotspots, further disrupting criminal activity and resulting in the arrest of nine people for public drinking. Two suspects were arrested for dealing and possession of drugs when 417 ziplock bags containing various drugs and an undisclosed amount of cash were found in their possession. Additionally, 32 liquor outlets were inspected for compliance, leading to the closure of 11 establishments due to their non-compliance. This resulted in the confiscation of 3460 litres of liquor and two gambling machines. The SAPS in Tshwane says it continues to maintain its zero-tolerance stance on crime through the continued execution of Operation Shanela across the metro. Femicide horror as EC man kills wife and ex-girlfriend
A man is on the run after allegedly shooting his ex-girlfriend and wife in a double femicide in Lusikisiki. As South Africa marks Women's Month, an Eastern Cape man is wanted for killing his reportedly pregnant ex-girlfriend and then going home and shooting his wife while she slept. A 42-year-old man is wanted for allegedly shooting and killing two women in the Ngobozana area in Lusikisiki on Tuesday. The man allegedly shot and killed his 49-year-old wife and 22-year-old ex-girlfriend in the early hours of the day between 1am and 1:30am. Police searching for man accused of killing wife and ex-girlfriend Eastern Cape police spokesperson Brigadier Nobuntu Gantana said that the motive for the killings is unknown at this stage. According to reports, the suspect first shot his ex-girlfriend at a tavern in the Chithwayo locality before he then proceeded to his home in Unity Park. He then allegedly shot his wife while she was asleep. The suspect fled the scene in the family's vehicle, which police later discovered abandoned.
