[UPDATED] Police caution Perhimpunan Demi Zara Qairina attendees to abide by the law
KUALA LUMPUR: Police have advised those planning to attend the Perhimpunan Demi Zara Qairina scheduled for tonight and tomorrow to abide by the law or face the consequences. City police chief Datuk Fadil Marsus said they would facilitate the planned gathering but warned that they would not tolerate any breach of the law. "Follow the instructions of the police personnel at the location. "We will take immediate action (if anyone breaks the law). We will not compromise on this," he said when contacted today. Meanwhile, Dang Wangi police chief Assistant Commissioner Sulizmie Affendy Sulaiman said 40 policemen will be deployed to monitor the gathering. "They will be there throughout the event to monitor. For now, there are no road closures or diversions around the shopping mall area. "However, depending on the situation, police will facilitate the movement of rally participants in accordance with legal provisions," he said. The rally, scheduled to start at 8pm, is organised by a coalition of non-governmental organisations, influencers and community leaders. It is held in solidarity with the victims' families and as a call for the authorities to take firm, uncompromising action against those who are negligent or who have failed to fulfil their responsibilities.
