Kevin Stefanski calls Myles Garrett's latest speeding citation "extremely disappointing"

Browns star defensive end Myles Garrett was cited for driving 100 miles per hour in a 60 mph zone in Northeast Ohio early Saturday morning after the team returned from its preseason game in Charlotte. That was Garrett's eighth citation for speeding since arriving in Cleveland as the No. 1 overall pick in 2017. The citation also comes after he flipped a Porsche 911 three times while speeding and swerving to avoid an animal three years ago. Head coach Kevin Stefanski spoke to the media for the first time since the citation was revealed on Wednesday morning and called the situation 'extremely disappointing.' 'It's been addressed with Myles, with the football team,' Stefanski said in his press conference. 'He needs to slow down for his safety and the safety of others.' Stefanski was asked if Garrett had been disciplined, but did not say. 'I'll keep everything internal,' Stefanski said. Garrett signed a four-year, $160 million contract with the Browns earlier this offseason after requesting a trade. At the time, it made him the highest-paid non-quarterback in league history.

Browns All-Pro DE Myles Garrett ticketed after police say he drove 100 mph in Cleveland suburb

STRONGSVILLE, Ohio (AP) — Browns All-Pro defensive end Myles Garrett has been accused of driving a Ferrari 100 mph on a suburban Cleveland interstate. The Strongsville Police Department stopped Garrett just after 2 a.m. Saturday in a 60 mph zone on Interstate 71 near the Ohio Turnpike, according to a citation. Garrett is scheduled to appear in court on Thursday but he could pay a $250 fine without appearing. Garrett is expected to be with the Browns in Philadelphia for a joint workout with the defending Super Bowl champion Eagles. Garrett was stopped less than an hour after the Browns landed at Hopkins International Airport after their 30-10 victory over the Carolina Panthers. It is the second time in less than two months a Browns player has been stopped by Strongsville Police for speeding. On June 17, Shedeur Sanders was stopped for going 101 mph near the same stretch of highway as Garrett. In 2022, Garrett flipped his Porsche when he veered off a rural road near his home following practice. He suffered a sprained shoulder, strained biceps, cuts and bruises in the wreck and was cited for failure to control his vehicle and unsafe speed.

Browns' Myles Garrett cited for speeding at 100 mph in a 60 mph zone, per police records

Cleveland Browns star Myles Garrett was cited for speeding early on Saturday morning in Strongsville, Ohio. Garrett was driving 100 mph in a 60 mph speed limit zone at around 2:01 a.m. ET on Saturday, Aug. 9, according to public police records. The four-time All-Pro's speeding incident came after the team played their preseason contest against the Carolina Panthers on Friday night. It marks the second incident involving a Browns player in Strongsville since June, when Shedeur Sanders was cited for driving 101 mph in the same 60 mph speed limit zone. Garrett can avoid a court appearance by paying the $250 fine. As Cabot noted, it's the eighth speeding ticket for the 29-year-old since he arrived in Cleveland as the first pick in the 2017 NFL Draft. It has also been three years since Garrett flipped his Porsche while speeding and swerving to avoid an animal in 2022. Garrett inked a four-year, $160 million contract extension in March, which made him the highest-paid non-quarterback in NFL history at the time. USA TODAY Sports reached out to the Browns for comment.
