He shared these images from his local supermarket...
It's a similar situation across the border.
Keith tells us that queues at the Carrefour in Estepona, near Malaga, are lengthening as people rush to buy water and other essentials.
Alison says "It's like COVID times again in the Algarve. Massive queues for fuel, and no water or toilet rolls in the supermarkets!"

This Wednesday, we're taking a look at news of a ferocious and potentially vaccine-resistant new Covid variant hitting the UK, to weather maps warning of a huge downpour on the way. Ferocious new Covid variant hits UK - and vaccine could be powerless against it ‌ This afternoon, our Heath team reported that a new variant of the COVID virus has been identified in the UK for the first time. The Public Health Agency reports that at least seven cases of the NB.1.8.1 coronavirus strain have been confirmed in Northern Ireland. ‌ NB.1.8.1 has been officially designated a "variant under monitoring" by the World Health Organisation (WHO) due to its rapid rise and the potential to evade immunity from previous infections or vaccines. NB.1.8.1 already the dominant strain in Hong Kong and China, and has been detected in Australia, the US and across popular holiday destinations including Egypt, Thailand and the Maldives. Meghan Markle cradles Princess Lilibet in new photo to mark fourth birthday Our Royal team reported this morning that Meghan Markle marked the fourth birthday of her daughter Princess Lilibet's birthday with a sweet tribute and some new black and white family photos of the Sussex clan. One showed Meghan holding Lilibet close during a recent boat trip, and another from when the princess was just a baby snuggled close to her mum. Meghan wrote the caption: "Happy birthday to our beautiful girl! Four years ago today she came into our lives - and each day is brighter and better because of it. Thanks to all of those sending love and celebrating her special day!" ‌ The duchess usually only shares photos of her daughter pictured from behind to protect her privacy, but in the more recent photo, Lili's eyes and the top half of her face could be seen, with her nose and mouth and the rest of her face covered by Meghan's arms as she hugged the princess. UK weather maps show date England will 'disappear' under 400-mile wall of rain ‌ Early this morning, our UK news team shared a weather warning that Brits are set to be battered with heavy showers with a map showing a 400 mile wall of rain moving in on Saturday. More low pressure systems are sweeping in and it is looking particularly wet at the end of the week across the country. Many parts of the UK already have felt the unusually blustery conditions this week after a long spell through May where high pressure dominated and we enjoyed blue skies and plenty of sunshine. It means families planning for outdoor activities with many children on half-term will be disappointed but at least gardens will get much needed rainfall. Maps from WXCharts show huge downpours covering England especially on Saturday morning while elsewhere there are also showers mixed in with sunshine. ‌ Jessie J breast cancer battle as singer, 37, announces surgery plans after festival show Our Showbiz team broke the sad news earlier today that singer Jessie J has been diagnosed with breast cancer. ‌ Singer Jessie J revealed she's been diagnosed with "early breast cancer" and plans to undergo surgery after her performance at this month's Summertime Ball. The 37 year old Price Tag singer shared in an Instagram video that she's spent a lot of her recent time "in and out of tests". "I was diagnosed with early breast cancer," mum-of-one Jessie disclosed as she spoke directly to her fans in the video. "Cancer sucks in any form, but I'm holding on to the word 'early'. 'More help needed' despite Scottish Water customers saving 60 million litres a day since warning

Scots were slapped with a warning to reduce water usage after the country saw the driest start to a year since 1964. Scots were hit with a stark warning to reduce their water usage last week following the driest start to a year in Scotland since 1964. And although improvements have been made, there is still a long way to go. Scots were asked to take shorter showers, switch off sprinklers, use watering cans and avoid using hoses where possible, although advice stopped short of calling for a full hosepipe ban for the first time in 30 years. ‌ Scottish Water said that, since the middle of April, Scots had been using around an extra 150 million litres of water a day. April was the UK's hottest ever, with mini-heatwaves at either end of the month and less rain than usual. ‌ May has continued in the same vein, although no records have been broken as of yet. Nevertheless, it seems last week's call for people to use water efficiently has been heeded, according to new data from Scottish Water. The utility estimates that demand for water has reduced by about 60 millions litres per day – enough to supply about half of Fife with water for a day – from its peak of more than 2000 million litres per day last week. The significant decrease will help the utility to protect resources and maintain normal supplies across the country. But as the generally dry weather is forecast to last for most of this week, customers are being urged to keep it up. Water levels have fallen from an average of 81 per cent last week to 77 per cent now – 13 per cent below the average of 90 per cent for this time of year and 16 per cent below levels of 93 per cent this time last year. "We'd like to say a massive thank you to everyone who has helped reduce water demand by using what is a precious resources as efficiently as possible," Kes Juskowiak, a Scottish Water Director, said. ‌ "But we need customers to continue their support and to take whatever measures they can to do so. "The system remains under significant pressure and so we we'd like to encourage everyone to continue to use Scotland's water as efficiently as possible. ‌ "Gardeners can have a particularly big impact by switching off sprinklers and using watering cans instead. "But we can all play our part through simple steps like shorter showers and turning the tap off when we brush our teeth. It all adds up." How can Scots help save water? • Using water efficiently in the garden and outdoor spaces by using a watering can instead of a garden hose where possible and avoiding using sprinklers ‌ • Taking shorter showers • Turning the tap off when brushing teeth • Using washing machines and dishwashers only when fully loaded ‌ • Using a bucket and sponge rather than a hose to wash the car Keith also noted that we are individually using an average of 178 litres of water per person per day in Scotland, which is higher than in England and Wales where people use an average of 137 litres per person per day. If a household of four takes just two minutes off their showers, they can save 5,000 litres of water a year and cut about £100 off their energy bill. What's more, by putting a full load in your washing machine washing at 30 degrees rather than 40 degrees, they can save on water and on energy consumption by 57 per cent. here.

The Lord Mayor's Balloon Regatta is returning for 2025 this month: date, start time and everything you need to know

It's that time of year again. The time when dozens of magnificent hot air balloons may or may not soar above London's skyline. Though the Lord Mayor's Hot Air Balloon Regatta first launched in 2015 and was intended to be annual event, it's actually only happened four times. Everything was going smoothly up to 2019, then in 2020 it was cancelled due to Covid and every year since then it has been scuppered by bad weather. When is the 2025 Lord Mayor's Balloon Regatta in London? So, could 2025 be the year that the balloons soar high above the city once more? We hope so. This year's Lord Mayor's Hot Air Balloon Regatta is being earmarked to take place on Sunday, May 11. What time does the event start? If the weather holds up, the balloons will take to the skies at 5.30am from Battersea Park. By sunrise, you should be able to see the whole parade of balloons floating peacefully above iconic London landmarks Buckingham Palace and the London Eye to the Tower of London and Tower Bridge. What other potential dates could the event take place? If the May launch doesn't go to plan, organisers have earmarked July 20 for the second attempt and July 27 for one final go. You can find updates for this year's regatta over on its website. It's not just a pretty sight. The extravaganza was created to help raise awareness of the Lord Mayor's Appeal, an initiative that has raised more than £250,000 since 2015 for local charities committed to things like mental health, empowering young people and ending homelessness.
