Blackouts latest: 'Rare atmospheric phenomenon' behind huge outages in Portugal and Spain

There are widespread reports that many across Spain and Portugal have been left without running water, with many homes given access to drinking water via electric pumps - which have obviously been affected by the power outage. Several people have been in touch to say they've seen people "panic buying" water and other supplies in supermarkets across Portugal and Spain. Kye, who's in Foros de Amora to the south of Lisbon, says people rushed for cheap still water at first, but are now turning to take sparkling and expensive brands. He shared these images from his local supermarket... It's a similar situation across the border. Keith tells us that queues at the Carrefour in Estepona, near Malaga, are lengthening as people rush to buy water and other essentials. Alison says "It's like COVID times again in the Algarve. Massive queues for fuel, and no water or toilet rolls in the supermarkets!"

Inside CBB star Danny Beard's romance with rarely-seen boyfriend Kye

Celebrity Big Brother star Danny Beard has kept coy about their relationship with Kye, but gave fans a small insight into their love after receiving a gushing letter from their beau Celebrity Big Brother finalist Danny Beard has been entertaining fans in the house, but once he heads back home, he will be welcomed by someone who finds him even more endearing - long-term partner Kye French. Danny, who turns 33 in May and uses they/them pronouns, first rose to fame after winning RuPaul's Drag Race UK in 2022. ‌ Since then they've built a thriving career in drag, appearing on shows like Hollyoaks and launching their popular podcast The Gossip Gays. But, away from TV screens, Danny shares their life with boyfriend Kye, a live event specialist who works as a freelance production coordinator and stage manager. ‌ ‌ The pair are thought to have been dating since at least late 2022, when Kye posted a snap of the couple at Danny's Drag Race crowning ceremony on Instagram. Kye, who lives in Manchester with Danny and their dogs, has carved out a successful career behind the scenes working on everything from large-scale festivals to major UK events. He has a military background and describes himself as "methodical, safety-conscious, and resilient" – the perfect antidote to Danny's fabulous chaos. Despite keeping a relatively low profile, Kye has been quietly supporting Danny's rise to fame. Kye has made several appearances at drag events with his partner, including at RuPaul's Drag Con, where Danny teased him for posting the photo he looked better in. Over the past two years, the couple have enjoyed several adventures together – including a sun-soaked trip to Cyprus for a friend's wedding, Beyoncé's Renaissance tour, and multiple appearances at Glastonbury, where Kye has worked both as a volunteer and performer. Their relationship took centre stage on Celebrity Big Brother this week when Danny received an emotional letter from home during the semi-final. ‌ The message, which was read aloud by housemate Donna Preston, included a touching note from Kye that said: "Watching you every day has made me fall in love with you even more. I'm counting down the days until I can give you a big squeeze." Danny was left in tears and later told Big Brother: "I have the best friends, family and support unit. I'm so madly in love with my boyfriend – I miss him so much." ‌ At another point in the reality show Danny referenced his boyfriend while commenting on the close relationship between housemates JoJo Siwa and Chris Hughes. When asked how they'd feel in a similar situation, Danny admitted: "If my boyfriend saw me with anyone, regardless of gender like that, he'd have words." Kye has also been showing his support for Danny in real time, reacting to episodes of the show on Danny's Gossip Gays podcast and joining the rest of the team in London for tonight's live final. The event is being filmed at the iconic West London studio where the Big Brother house is located, so it's likely Kye will be in the audience to cheer Danny on as they leave the house. In one episode, Kye broke down while admitting how much he misses his partner, saying: "On Monday and Tuesday night I was sat at home on my own just me and the dogs, and it's just like a void, and I don't like it. I'm going to cry. I fall asleep watching the live stream every single night just so I feel like he's there with me still." Kye could then be seen wiping tears away from his face.

St. Louis golf looks to carry momentum into postseason

Baseball, softball, track and tennis started their postseasons last week, and golf will take its turn this week. The St. Louis Catholic has the area's top boys team heading into the postseason. The Saints have won four of seven tournaments, including the Elton Golf Invitational, Barbe Buc Classic, Iowa Spring Classic and Golden Tor Invitational. The Saints will play in the Division II, District 2 tournament on Wednesday at the Lake Charles Country Club, along with Iowa, Jennings, LaGrange and South Beauregard. The Saints will have an eye on Teurlings Catholic, last year's Division II state runner-up. The Saints have placed third or better at state in seven consecutive seasons, and the Rebels have been right there with them with seven consecutive top-five finishes. The 2020 season was cut short by the coronavirus pandemic. The Saints have a strong lineup with three players ranked in the top 10 in Southwest Louisiana based on scoring average. Junior Kye Hanks leads the area with a 73-stroke average, including three rounds of 67, despite an early-season wrist injury. He was the top medalist at the Iowa Spring Classic and Golden Tor Invitational. 'Kye is never out of the hole,' St. Louis Catholic head golf coach Pat Neck said. 'His short game is exceptional. He chips and puts probably as good as anybody that we've ever had. 'And this year he's gotten longer as he's grown a little bit. He's still not a very big kid, but he's grown a little bit. He's plenty long now, so he's able to go lower on a more consistent basis than anybody we've had.' Senior Samuel Broussard is second in the area at 73.44 as the Saints' lone senior and has five top-four finishes. 'Sam is just steady,' Neck said. 'I want to say every round of this year has been between 70 and 76. Even when he's struggling, he's always able to get it around the course. 'You can almost write him down for a score in that range every tournament. He's been a heck of a leader by example for these other guys.'
