PETALING JAYA : A school van driver has been arrested in Johor Bahru for allegedly molesting two children.
Seri Alam police chief Sohaimi Ishak said the 58-year-old suspect was arrested at 5.30pm yesterday at his house in Taman Desa Harmoni after a report was lodged by the father of one of the victims, Sinar Harian reported.
According to the father, the first alleged incident took place at about 9.30am on April 21, involving an eight-year-old girl who claimed she was molested by the suspect in a school van near a school at Taman Molek.
'The victim informed her father about the incident, but he did not take immediate action as he wanted to give the suspect a chance,' he was quoted as saying.
'However, at about 8am on Monday, the victim's father reportedly witnessed the suspect molesting a seven-year-old boy at Taman Redang, while the school van was parked waiting for other students.'
This prompted the father to come forward and file a police report regarding the two incidents, Sohaimi said.
He said the suspect has been remanded for seven days to assist in the investigation under Section 14(a) of the Sexual Offences Against Children Act 2017.
