Modi to lay foundation stone of first PM MITRA Park in Dhar

Bhopal: Prime Minister Narendra Modi will visit Madhya Pradesh on Aug 25 to perform 'Bhoomi Pujan' of the country's first PM MITRA Park at Badnawar in Dhar district. Announcing this, chief minister Mohan Yadav said that while other states are still in the initial preparatory stage for their PM MITRA Parks, Madhya Pradesh will be holding the groundbreaking ceremony for the park at Dhar on August 25. Yadav said this has been made possible through continuous coordination with the central government. The chief minister emphasised that once completed, the PM MITRA Park will give a major boost to the development of the entire Malwa region. The Dhar district area is poised to become the second large industrial hub after Pithampur. The park will benefit cotton producing farmers in the region and generate around 300,000 direct and indirect permanent jobs. Badnawar will also become part of the Indore Metropolitan City Area, gaining access to metropolitan facilities. Investors and companies setting up industries here will be provided with four-lane roads, rail connectivity, and air links. Yadav reviewed preparations via video conferencing for the Prime Minister's visit, the 'Bhoomi Pujan' ceremony and the public meeting with the Indore Commissioner and Dhar Collector on Sunday night. He instructed that special arrangements be made, ensuring the participation of local farmers and smooth transport for attendees from different districts. At the venue, a waterproof dome will be set up, featuring a stage for VVIPs, adequate seating arrangements, drinking water facilities, and well-organised logistics. He emphasised convenient access routes, including alternate roads and necessary repairs. Stay updated with the latest local news from your city on Times of India (TOI). India reopens PLI scheme for textiles amid US tariff impact

As the Indian textile and apparel industry faces a challenging scenario following the imposition of a 50 per cent tariff by the US administration, the Indian government has decided to invite fresh applications under the production-linked incentive (PLI) scheme. Although the scheme will provide support to the textile industry to compete in the US market, the garment sector may see little benefit from the announcement, as cotton garment manufacturing is not included in the scheme. The Union Ministry of Textiles announced on Friday that it will reopen the PLI scheme for the textiles sector. In a statement, the ministry said that in view of requests from industry stakeholders, it has decided to reopen the PLI scheme portal for inviting fresh applications from interested companies for MMF apparel, MMF fabrics, and products of technical textiles. The application portal will remain open until August 31 this year. Indian government will reopen applications for the production-linked incentive (PLI) scheme for textiles, focusing on MMF apparel, fabrics, and technical textiles, amid US-imposed 50 per cent tariffs on Indian imports. Cotton garments remain excluded. Applications are open until August 31. The scheme has seen limited uptake, with 64 companies committing ₹6,000 crore (~$685 million). The announcement comes at a time when the US has imposed 50 per cent tariffs on Indian imports. Labour-intensive sectors such as textiles are expected to be among the worst hit. According to the ministry's statement, all terms and conditions notified earlier through the respective scheme guidelines will continue to apply for the fresh applications. The ministry urged all interested companies to take advantage of this opportunity and submit their applications within the specified period. The Centre approved the PLI scheme for textiles in September 2021, with a budgetary outlay of ₹10,683 crore (~$1,220 million) for a five-year period to boost the production of man-made fibre (MMF) apparel and fabrics, among other segments. So far, the government has approved 80 applicants under the scheme. In the current fiscal, it aims to disburse ₹500 crore (~$57.09 million) as incentives under the PLI scheme. The response to the scheme has been lukewarm, with only 64 companies committing investments of ₹6,000 crore (~$685 million). However, several investors did not proceed due to various issues. Rajnath Singh to lay foundation stone for Rs 1,800 cr rail coach unit in MP

Bhopal, Aug 10 (UNI) Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Mohan Yadav announced that the state is set to receive a major boost under Prime Minister Narendra Modi's vision—a new rail coach manufacturing unit. Defence Minister Rajnath Singh will perform the bhoomipujan ceremony today at Dussehra Maidan in Obeidullaganj to mark the start of the project. The event will also be attended by Union Minister of Agriculture & Farmers' Welfare and Rural Development Shivraj Singh Chauhan, Defence Production Secretary Sanjeev Kumar, Railway Board Chairman Satish Kumar, and Bharat Earth Movers Ltd (BEML) Chairman Shantanu Rai. A short film on the BEML project, a 3D walk-through of the proposed plant, and models of new facilities will be showcased during the programme. The plant under the name Brahma Project (BEML Rail Hub for Manufacturing) will be built on over 60 hectares in Umariya village of Raisen district, near the Bhopal border, at a cost of Rs 1,800 crore. The facility is expected to benefit Bhopal, Raisen, Sehore, and Vidisha districts, creating employment for over 5,000 people, both directly and indirectly. Technical students from the region will particularly gain from new job opportunities. Calling it a significant boost to the Make in India initiative, Yadav said the unit will manufacture coaches for Vande Bharat, Amrit Bharat, and metro trains, ushering in a 'new era' for India's rail network. The project will also stimulate industrial growth in nearby areas, including Mandideep. The decision to establish the factory was taken a few months ago during Yadav's visit to the BEML institute in Bengaluru. The Chief Minister emphasized that the unit will fully align with Make in India and Atmanirbhar Bharat goals by utilizing mostly indigenous technology and materials, reducing foreign dependence and positioning India as a leader in defence manufacturing. 'Under the leadership of PM Modi, a new chapter of industrial development will be scripted,' Yadav said, adding that investors from Madhya Pradesh and across the country are being invited to participate. The project prioritizes environmental sustainability, featuring zero liquid waste, use of solar and renewable energy, rainwater harvesting, and green landscaping. Built as a 'green factory' using recycled and sustainable materials, the plant will initially produce 125–200 coaches per year, with capacity planned to scale up to 1,100 coaches annually within five years. Yadav said that the project will not only generate thousands of jobs but also enhance the state's technological capabilities, making Madhya Pradesh a competitive player in the global high-speed rail and metro market.
