To ensure seamless security and crowd management, the police made extensive arrangements for the event. As per Commissioner of Police Mohit Agarwal, the measures included deployment of water police and NDRF teams in the Ganga for safety and rescue operations, utilization of eight drones for aerial surveillance, installation of around 2,000 CCTV cameras for real-time monitoring, 10 quick response teams on 24/7 duty, over 20 motorcycle squads patrolling the roads and approximately 1,500 police personnel deployed round the clock to maintain law and order.
Traffic management, including diversions and no-entry zones, has been implemented on the routes connecting to Shri Kashi Vishwanath Dham from Saturday until Tuesday morning. The left lane of the Prayagraj to Kashi National Highway has been secured for kanwariyas. Adequate police forces have been deployed on the routes and in the temple for the convenience and safety of the devotees. Additionally, temporary police outposts have been established.

Several teacher aspirants injured in clash with police

Patna: Several teacher aspirants, demanding the Secondary Teacher Eligibility Test (STET) before the Teacher Recruitment Exam (TRE)-4, received minor injuries in a clash with police during a protest on Thursday. Police had to resort to use of force and lathicharge as they smashed down the metal barricades near JP roundabout and Dak Bungalow crossing in the state capital, in a thwarted bid to march towards the CM House on 1, Anne Marg. Many were seen carrying tricolours and placards, on which it was written, "No STET, no vote". Town ASP Mohibullah Ansari told this newspaper that no one was detained or arrested. "The police stopped the teacher aspirants from entering the restricted area. The protest started from a college. They were first stopped at JP Roundabout and again at Dak Bungalow crossing. A water cannon vehicle was called, but it was not used. They are protesting every day in the city, causing severe traffic jam situations," he said. At JP roundabout, the chief secretary even called a delegation of five candidates to meet him. After the meeting, the protesters raised their demand that the STET be held before TRE-4, and that CM Nitish should give information about this through a social media post. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like Upto 15% Discount for Salaried Individuals ICICI Pru Life Insurance Plan Get Quote Undo An aspirant said if the STET is not held before the TRE-4, then the BEd and BTC-trainee students of sessions 2022-2024 and 2023-2025 will not get a chance to participate in the recruitment process as the students will not have the required eligibility to become teachers. "Without clearing the STET, we will be ineligible to apply for TRE-4," said the aspirant. The protest began at Patna College and proceeded towards Dak Bungalow Crossing. The protesters alleged that the police struck them with batons even as they peacefully raised their voices with the demands. The police officers, however, said that they exercised "remarkable restraint since morning" before being attacked by the demonstrators. Some individuals even allegedly attempted to tear the police uniform, prompting the cops to use batons and kick the protesters. Patna superintendent of police (central) Diksha said the demonstrators gathered near Dak Bungalow crossing, disrupting traffic movement. "The protesters attempted to jump the barricades despite repeated requests by police personnel to vacate the roads. Additional police forces were deployed, and mild force was used to disperse the protesters to maintain law and order in the city," she said. The demonstrators said that the govt was planning to release vacancies for the Bihar Public Service Commission's TRE-4, but the STET exam had not been conducted this year. As per the exam calendar, STET is to be held twice a year, however, not a single round has held been held so far, an aspirant said. Rahul Kumar, a protestor, said they come out on the streets with a hope that the govt will fulfil their demands. The protesters said that there should be transparency in the education department. 'Justice out there': Indian-origin man Mahendra Patel, wrongfully accused of Walmart kidnapping attempt, cleared of charges in Georgia

Indian-origin Georgia man Mahendra Patel who spent 45 days in jail earlier this year has been cleared of all charges. 57-year-old Mahendra Patel , an Indian-origin, Georgia-based man, who spent 45 days in jail earlier this year, after a woman brought an attempted kidnapping accusation against him, has finally been cleared of all charges. Patel was arrested in March after Caroline Miller, a woman, alleged that Patel tried to kidnap her 2-year-old child when they were shopping at the Walmart Cobb Parkway. Patel was charged with criminal attempt to commit kidnapping, which was later amended to attempted kidnapping, along with simple assault and simple battery, accusing Patel of causing 'violent injury' by pulling on the child. Patel told the investigators that he held the child to stop him from falling and he exchanged a few words with the mother as well -- about where to find one particular medicine in the store. As Patel was spending days in jail, his attorney secured the surveillance footage of the incident that gained national attention as Patel's arrest was called a racial injustice. Contrary to the claims that Patel fled the store, the surveillance footage revealed that Patel paid for what he bought and exited the store without any rush. Hours later, Patel was arrested and he could not understand why he was being arrested and initially thought that they were arresting the wrong person. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like Top Public Speaking Course for Children Planet Spark Book Now Undo An online petition calling for Patel's release drew nearly 100,000 signatures and Patel was released on bond after spending 45 days in jail. The Cobb County District Attorney's Office released a statement, saying the decision to drop Patel's charges came after a meeting between him and Miller, who expressed that they wanted to "put the incident behind them." The office further stated they are "pleased to have facilitated a resolution and are encouraged by the willingness of both parties to engage in a constructive dialogue." "It made me realize there's justice out there. There are good people," Patel said, adding that he will use his story as a lesson to be more vocal about those who are wrongfully jailed.
