‘No place for bullies': Mara expels six Besut MRSM students over dorm abuse of Form Two boy
Mara chairman Datuk Asyraf Wajdi Dusuki said the agency will not compromise on cases involving violence among students and reiterated that bullying has no place in any MRSM.
'I have repeatedly emphasised that there is no place for bullies in any MRSM. No excuse can ever justify acts of physical violence or any behaviour that could cause harm,' he said in a brief statement.
'I have instructed the Mara Secondary Education Division to adopt a zero-tolerance policy on this matter. All students involved must be expelled from the college. No appeals will be entertained,' he added.
Earlier, it was reported that police received a report from a male Form Two student at a residential school in Besut, claiming he was bullied by Form Three students last Tuesday.
Besut police chief Supt Azamuddin Ahmad @ Abu said initial investigations revealed that the senior students had ordered the victim to sit in a semi-squatting position with a slipper placed on his head for 40 minutes.
The victim was also punched in the stomach and slapped in the face while at the school dormitory, he said.
Azamuddin said that following the incident, the students suspected of involvement have been detained and taken to the Magistrate's Court in Besut for a remand application.

Elderly man beaten to death, son nabbed
Kuala Krai police chief Mazlan Mamat said the suspect would be taken to the magistrates' court tomorrow for a remand application. PETALING JAYA : An elderly man is believed to have been beaten to death with a blunt object in Kampung Baru Kuala Gris, Dabong, Kelantan early this morning. Kuala Krai police chief Mazlan Mamat said police received an emergency call about the incident at 7.30am from a member of the public. He said a team from the Kuala Krai police headquarters and Dabong police station rushed to the location and found the 74-year-old victim lying in a pool of blood in the kitchen. 'Initial investigations show the victim was struck on the head with a blunt object, which caused serious injuries. He was confirmed dead at the location. 'Police detained the victim's 30-year-old son and seized a broken chair,' Bernama reported him as saying. Mazlan said the suspect tested positive for methamphetamine in initial urine tests. He was a former inmate of the Batu Jong satellite prison in Kuala Krai for drug trafficking, having been released in early July. 'Since his release, the suspect has been living with the victim and his mother. Checks also found that the suspect has seven previous criminal records, five related to drug cases and two cases of criminal intimidation,' he said. Mazlan said the victim's body was sent to the Sultan Ismail Petra Hospital's forensic unit for a post-mortem. The suspect will be brought to the magistrates' court tomorrow for a remand application. He said the case is being investigated under Section 302 of the Penal Code for murder.
