Model Munroe Bergdorf talks the magic of loving another trans woman
Bergdorf, a history-making model, writer, and trans activist, opened up about her love life on the podcast Rylan: How to Be in Love with host Rylan Clark. She said that the most significant thing in her life that changed her view about love was the first time she fell in love with a woman, and specifically a trans woman.
Discussing her relationship with her ex-girlfriend, Ava, who has passed away, Bergdorf said it was the first time she felt true love.
"Because I realized how much love was what I thought it should be, rather than what it actually is," Bergdorf said. "And I never thought I would fall in love with another woman, especially a trans woman, because I hadn't processed or allowed myself to understand that I, as a trans woman, deserve love."
"We're constantly told that trans people are, like, an abomination. That people shouldn't even be friends with trans people, we shouldn't employ trans people, we shouldn't let their kids near trans people. All these awful things that ultimately make you feel unlovable," she continued. "So, then, when another trans woman comes along, you've got all of this internalized hatred oftentimes. Then that whole relationship opened my eyes. And I was like, 'Of course she deserves love, so of course I deserve love, and then why can't we love each other?'"
That relationship also expanded her idea of her sexuality, as she had only been with men before.
Bergdorf said that the relationship made her realize that any time a man showed her attention or affection, she would feel lovable. She was seeking that male validation instead of finding actual love.
Bergdorf said that nowadays, she identifies as queer, but doesn't want a label to limit herself. "I don't really feel the need to define myself by a box, because I feel like you end up becoming box-shaped oftentimes," she said.
Bergdorf recently released the her book Talk To Me: How to Talk About the Things That Matter, and has an upcoming documentary, Love & Rage: Munroe Bergdorf, coming out July 15. The documentary takes an intimate look at her life and serves as a rallying cry for trans rights.

Jennifer Aniston Reveals the Unexpected Skill She's Learned from Selena Gomez
She also shared her and Courtney Cox's "love language" that bores people "to tears."The Gist Jennifer Aniston opened up about her relationship with Selena Gomez and the unexpected skill the social media maven has helped her with during a 'People' interview published August 9. While the pair are now close friends, Gomez previously revealed that she was starstruck when she met Aniston for the first time. Aniston also opened up about her and Friends co-star Courtney Cox's shared "love language," admitting that it "bores people to tears."Jennifer Aniston might be most well known for her ten-year run as Rachel Green on Friends, but the sitcom icon is also a beauty maven sharing her best hair secrets through LolaVie. Since founding the hair care company four years ago, the Morning Show actress is now launching a dry shampoo as her twelfth product—and she chatted with People about her relationships with fellow entrepreneurs Selena Gomez and Courtney Cox. As the most followed woman on Instagram with 418 million followers and counting, Gomez knows a little something about social media—and Aniston is happy to give the Only Murders in the Building actress her flowers. When asked what she'd learned from the Rare founder, whom she met many years ago in a bathroom, the star shared, "Selena helps me lean into social media.' She also confirmed that the longtime friends are as tight as ever, adding, 'And she's just an angel that I love to spend time with." The A-listers, who both share the same manager Aleen Keshishian, apparently met in a bathroom over a decade ago when a 'starstruck' Gomez says 'nobody knew who I was.' Subbing in as a host on Ellen DeGeneres's daytime talk show back in 2020, Gomez reminded Aniston about their change meeting. 'You were in the bathroom wearing a black dress,' she said, calling the exchange 'everything that I wanted.' Gomez explained, 'I walked into the bathroom and I saw you and you were just so nice. You just walked out of the bathroom, you were going back, and my heart stopped and I freaked out and I ran to my mom and I was like, 'Oh my God, I just saw Jennifer Aniston.'' While Aniston didn't appear to remember their first meeting, she opened up about their close friendship, sharing, 'We've known each other for years. You've been to my house, we've had pizza.' Aniston also opened up about her enduring friendship with former Friends alum Cox during her People interview, although she admitted she's less likely to tap her ex co-star for beauty takes than for another topic they love to geek over. 'We usually talk interior design," Aniston admitted, adding, "It kind of bores people to tears when we get into a room together. But it's what we love. It's our love language." Linda Hamilton Says She Didn't Put ‘Pressure' on Her Kids to Make Her a Grandma: ‘I Don't Want More Babies' (Exclusive)
NEED TO KNOW Linda Hamilton opened up about becoming a grandma during an exclusive interview with PEOPLE about her new film, Osiris 'I want to throw my arms around [my grandson] and protect him from everything. Hold on to him for the rest of his days or the rest of my days,' she says of her love for her grandbaby Hamilton is also a mother to son Dalton Abbott, 35, and daughter Josephine Archer Cameron, 32Linda Hamilton is just fine being a grandmother of one. After sharing with PEOPLE in June that she became a grandparent to a 'precious' boy in the past year, the Stranger Things and Terminator star, 68, opened up a bit more about taking on the new familial role. 'I have not been sitting around for 20 years hoping for a grandchild — I'm too busy. So there was no pressure, no weight [on my children],' Hamilton tells PEOPLE during a discussion about her new sci-fi action film, Osiris. 'I frankly feel like I've just gotten rid of my babies, you know what I mean? I don't want more babies,' she says of her son Dalton Abbott, 35, and daughter Josephine Archer Cameron, 32, whom she had with her ex-husbands, actor Bruce Abbott and filmmaker James Cameron. Hamilton adds that her grandson is 'just starting to crawl' and that she's jokingly finding ways to not be asked to babysit or take care of him. 'I started doing things like letting their dog out by accident, wink, wink, and then doing it again and like, 'Oh, I'm sorry. I just forgot she was here.' You know what I mean? So they would not give me that grandbaby under any circumstances,' she says. 'I'm not desperate to have a baby in my arms.' Joking aside, Hamilton recalled that she has formed an unexpected bond with her grandson compared to her two children. 'I look into his eyes and I am sitting here going, 'What the hell is going on?' There is such a deep connection,' she explains. 'When you're a single mother and a working mother, you don't remember connection. You barely get them fed and put to bed and then you collapse.' 'Of course, I loved my babies, but there's something very connected with him and I,' Hamilton continues. 'And it really doesn't have anything to do with, 'Oh, he's my legacy,' or, 'Oh, he reminds me of my son.' It's nothing like that. It's just like, 'Oh my God, this little creature.' Ice T's Secret to Marriage with His Wife Coco Austin: "You Gotta Pick Somebody..."
With over two decades of marriage in the books, Ice T and Coco Austin have some sage advice up their sleeves. The Law & Order: Special Victims Unit star tied the knot in Vegas in 2002 just two months after they first met and have gone on to build a beautiful life together. Ice T and Austin, who welcomed their daughter Chanel in 2014, knew from the jump that they were a match. Or as Austin once put it, they were "like yin and yang, like peanut butter and jelly." And in a March 2023 interview with E! News, Ice T said he and Austin are "almost like, identical" and revealed what he believes is the secret to their marriage. RELATED: Ice T's Wife Coco Austin Has a Spicy Nickname for Him: "Oh, She Calls Me..." Ice T breaks down his secret to his long marriage with his wife Coco Austin "What's the secret, Ice T? What is the secret to a successful marriage?" E! News' Francesca Amiker asked the SVU star. "Getting married is like casting for a movie — you gotta pick somebody who's ready for all the scenes," Ice T explained. "Now, the thing of it is there's gonna be fun scenes, there's gonna be sad scenes, there's gonna be tough scenes, there's gonna be fight scenes, there's gonna be a lot of different scenes. And a lot of people don't sign up for the whole movie, they just sign up for the good part, ya know?" "There's gonna be parts where your girl is going through it. Maybe she lost a family member and she needs a shoulder to lean on," he continued. "There's gonna be moment you down and you need that woman to say, 'C'mon baby it's gonna be alright.'"Ice T added that he believes another key factor to his happy marriage is that he and Austin are very similar. "I think the fact of it is that Coco and I are almost like, identical," he told E! News. "When she met me ... she met me in a red snakeskin suit. When I talk my Ice T s---, she's like 'Yeah, ooh!' That tickles her." "You gotta find somebody who you really like them as themselves," he continued. "And when you do find that person, it's usually a celebration because people are like, 'Wow you found somebody that can really put up with your bull----. That person is perfect for you. And then you have to stay in tune with it like a plant. You have to water it." Ice T also said he acknowledges how they'll continue to change and grow as they get older. "The problem with humans is we keep evolving," he said. "So you as a 25 or 30-year-old woman, it's not the same as a 35-year-old woman ... You can't say, 'Well you liked that last year!' No, well, it's this year." Ice T's wife Coco Austin appeared on Law & Order: SVU shortly after they got married Ice T has played SVU's Sergeant Odafin "Fin" Tutuola since Season 2 of NBC's long-running drama, and his partner in crime IRL has also racked up a few acting credits on the show through the years. In 2004, two years after they got married, Austin made an appearance on Law & Order: SVU in the episode Season 5, Episode 25 ("Head"). She also had roles in Season 9, Episode 8 ("Fight") and Season 13, Episode 11 ("Theatre Tricks"). RELATED: Here's Exactly When the Law & Order Series Will Premiere on NBC in Fall 2025 "I think whenever Coco is on the set, every single crew member somehow makes it to the set," Ice T told HuffPost about his wife's guest roles on SVU. "Every light man, every prop person, every electrical, every cook somehow makes it to that set when Coco is going to shoot. We have more people on set when Coco shoots than any time in the history of Law & Order."
