If you're moving from Apple to Garmin, you'll want to install this watch face

There's a lot to consider when moving from Apple Watch to Garmin — sure, you'll get a better battery life and more health tracking features, but one thing you might miss, as well as answering calls and texts from your wrist, is closing your rings. The good news is, you can still close your rings using this Garmin watch face.
I review the best Garmin watches for a living, and while this is the watch face I always download, the Goals screen is super popular, and mimics Apple's rings. The best part is, unlike Apple, you can completely customize what your rings measure.
Like all custom Garmin watch faces, you can download the watch face, named Goals, from the Connect IQ app. You can download a free trial of the watch face first, and then it will cost $1.99/£1.99. Once you've downloaded the face, you'll be able to move it from watch to watch, if you ever choose to upgrade your Garmin.
Here's why I recommend it.
I've been reviewing the best fitness trackers for the past decade, and I'm the first to admit, the Apple Watch rings are extremely motivating. Far more motivating than my watch randomly buzzing throughout the day, telling me to move. I've been known to go for a walk at 10 pm just to close my move ring, and the same applies with the Garmin goals, which I love seeing my move throughout the day.
One big step up from the move, exercise, and stand rings you'll find on the Apple Watch is the ability to customize your goals to ones that are important to you. The goals watch face lets you pick from a huge list of stats, including all of the obvious options like steps, movement, and calories, but also more unique goals, such as floors climbed, monthly walking minutes, and time to recover in hours.
As a marathon runner, it's always helpful to see my active calories — a stat you can't see on most of Garmin's built-in watch faces. This helps me ensure I'm eating enough when my training plan involves high mileage runs. If you're looking to lose weight, it's also a helpful metric to keep an eye on, as you want to ensure you're in a calorie defict, burning more calories than you consume.

I've installed the Goals watch face on my Garmin Forerunner 570, Garmin Forerunner 970, and Garmin Epix Pro, and have not experienced any difference in battery life while using it. It looks fantastic on the bright, AMOLED screen, and I appreciate the option to customize the colors of the bars to suit my style.

Apple Adds Redesigned Blood Oxygen Feature After Legal Dispute

After a long legal battle over intellectual property with medical technology startup Masimo, Apple (AAPL, Financials) started rolling out a new blood oxygen capability to some Apple Watch customers on Thursday. The company noted that a recent ruling by U.S. Customs made the upgrade possible for Apple Watch Series 9, Series 10, and Ultra 2 devices. Warning! GuruFocus has detected 5 Warning Signs with NVDA. In 2023, the International Trade Commission ruled that Apple's blood oxygen sensors violated Masimo's patents. As a result, the business stopped selling some models and sold modified versions without the feature. Apple claimed that consumers who don't have the feature yet can get it by updating their iPhone to iOS 18.6.1 and their Apple Watch to watchOS 11.6.1. The Health app's Respiratory section will show the results. In the last several years, the business has added more health-related functions, such sleep apnea monitoring for the Apple Watch and hearing health features for the AirPods. Apple started its first big health research in five years in February. This article first appeared on GuruFocus. Sign in to access your portfolio

iPhone 17 Pro Max just leaked ahead of Apple event — design, battery and a huge camera upgrade

A pair of recent leaks regarding the upcoming iPhone 17 Pro Max hint at potential upgrades for Apple's high-end phone, but one of them may be more realistic than the other. The more controversial leak comes from the Korean blogging platform Naver, where tipster yeux1122 posted alleged CAD renders of the Pro Max that might reveal internal components for the device, including the battery. According to images from their blog, the renders reveal the battery size and shape, a solid aluminum structure, and the location of the MagSafe magnet. Based on these images, it appears the battery will be bigger, potentially around 5,000 mAh, which would put the iPhone 17 Pro Max on par with the Samsung Galaxy S25 Ultra. The MagSafe coil in the renders looks to be in a different place compared to the iPhone 16 Pro Max, which suggests a reconfiguration of the internal layout to support new hardware like a vapor-chamber cooling system. Yeux1122, in my experience, is very hit or miss with their leaks, and I am taking this leak with a heaping spoonful of salt. One regular Apple leaker on X, Unknownz21, stated that the renders were not an Apple CAD. Another regular Apple rumormonger, ShrimpApplePro, also found the images to be problematic. 'You can tell this is just a poorly make [sic] cad by some random people, not an actual internals of the new iphone,' they posted on X. On the other hand, a fresh leak from Instant Digital on Weibo seems more credible based on their track record with rumors. Get instant access to breaking news, the hottest reviews, great deals and helpful tips. They recently hinted that the iPhone 17 Pro Max will feature a new telephoto camera (via Android Headlines), making it one of the 'most powerful telephoto' lenses on the market. Reportedly, the Pro Max could feature a massive 8x optical zoom, a big leap from the fixed 5x zoom on its predecessor. This new system would also involve a moving lens system, meaning that it could switch between different focal lengths. It would give shooters more flexibility when zooming, but also make photos at various focal lengths have better image quality. Apple is reportedly upping the resolution of the telephoto lens to 48MP. Combined with the bigger optical zoom, it could explain the redesigned and larger camera array on the next high-end iPhone. This contradicts previous rumors that the camera would only support 3.5x optical zoom and another that suggested the iPhone 17 Pro would get 8x optical zoom. This is not a settled rumor. We'll know more in September during the iPhone 17 launch event, when Apple is expected to reveal the entire iPhone 17 lineup.
