Louise McSharry: Want to fake a sun-kissed glow on your face? Here's how to do it...

Many tanning brands have developed hybrid products which combine the effect of false tan with skincare ingredients. These serums generally give the face a natural looking glow, along with the plumping and hydrating effect of hyaluronic acid.
False tan can have a drying effect, which can cause problems for people with dry or sensitive skin, which is why this is a great option if you're looking to make your face match a tanned body, be it naturally or artificially. I like Cocoa Brown's Sunshine Serum (£15), which is easy to use and fairly priced
If that sounds like too much for you, you may prefer to add some tanning drops to your skincare routine. These allow you to fully customise the level of glow or tan you want to achieve, depending on how many drops you use.
Simply add as many drops as you like, according to your chosen product's instructions, to your usual moisturiser and you'll gradually see a bronzing effect. I like Pestle & Mortar's Glow Drops (£35), which are enriched with hyaluronic acid and deliver a truly natural-looking glow.
If you don't want to commit to a bronzed effect that will last for a few days, bronzing drops may be the product for you. These were made famous by skincare brand Drunk Elephant via its D-Bronzi Anti-Pollution Drops (£35). Similar to tanning drops in that they are combined with a moisturiser or facial oil, they'll make you look instantly glowy and will wash off at the end of the day.
If you're not looking for an all-over tint, classic bronzing products will work beautifully. My absolute favourite product to achieve a sun-kissed look is Makeup by Mario's SoftSculpt Transforming Skin Enhancer (£35) which is incredibly easy to use thanks to its balmy texture.
It's almost impossible to make it look unnatural thanks to how easily it blends and melts into the skin, and I find the lightest shade looks great on fair skin without being too orange.
Unfortunately, the darkest shade probably won't work for people with very dark skin, an issue that comes up repeatedly when it comes to bronzer. It would be great to see improvement there, as there is no reason for international brands to be failing when it comes to inclusivity in 2025.
Buying Irish
Sculpted by Aimee is going from strength to strength, with major developments in the brand's skincare range over the last couple of years. The latest launch is a trio of radiance-boosting products: Brighten Up Energising Eye Cream, Hydrabright Illuminating Serum and LiquidGlo Brightening Essence. Each formula contains a carefully considered list of ingredients, like brightening caffeine in the eye cream and barrier-enriching niacinamide in the serum. I've just started using them, but so far I'm a big fan. These products are available individually, or as a trio for £60 via sculptedbyaimee.com.
Something old…
It would be easy to feel overwhelmed by all the hair products on the market these days. Once upon a time, you really only had products to clean your hair and help the style stay in place, but these days it feels like every second week a hair brand is identifying a new problem for them to solve with a brand new product. Not all of them feel warranted, but there is no doubt that humidity causes problems for lots us when it comes to our hair. Fortunately, hair brands have been pumping out products to solve that problem, and, even better, finding ways to incorporate solutions into products which also perform other tasks. Umberto Giannini's Weatherproof Hold Anti-Humidity Frizz Free Hairspray (£9.95) is a good example of this. It delivers medium-strong hold while preventing your style from being impacted by humidity.
... Something new
I've yet to try a Colour Wow product I didn't like, but there is no doubt that the brand's Dream Coat Supernatural Spray is a real favourite. It is incredibly effective at preventing frizz in humid conditions as well as protecting the hair from heat. Now, Colour Wow has taken its Dream Coat knowledge and parlayed it into a brand new hairspray. Texas Hold 'Em Big Hold Hairspray (£29.50) not only promises to protect your hair from the impact of humidity, but it also delivers strong hold and heat protection. Think big, Dallas Cowboys, Dolly Parton in Steel Magnolias hairstyles, built to last. This product also offers a new 'flash-fixate' method of application which the brand says leaves the hair less wet, which certainly appeals to me. A thin veil of hairspray is always preferable to wet chunks of hair which often dry in solid chunks — I'm never really going for solid chunks in my hair.

'Magical' UK beach with golden sands and hidden sea caves that appear at times

The UK is home to some stunning beaches, and one stretch of sand has been described as being like something out of a "fairy tale" with its golden sands and hidden sea caves The UK coast boasts an array of stunning beaches, from the wild cliffs of Cornwall to the unspoiled sands on the Lleyn Peninsula, mirroring Mediterranean shores, to the picturesque West Sands Beach in St Andrews, Scotland. Whether you're after a tranquil retreat or keen for a spot of adventure, Britain's coastline offers a wealth of sites for seaside exploration. Still, one particular beach has been singled out as resembling something straight out of a "fairy tale". ‌ Highlighting Britain's most enchanting spots in a special series, travel expert @lotteboo3 took to TikTok to reveal a "magical" beach, a mere 90-minute drive from London, nestled along the Kentish coastline. ‌ This coast, also boasting seaside towns likened to Spain's sunny Costa del Sol, harbours a secluded gem celebrated for its "dramatic chalk stacks, golden sands and hidden sea caves." Lotte gleefully showcased Botany Bay in her TikTok footage, dubbing it "one of the UK's most photogenic beaches". Cradled between Broadstairs and Margate, Botany Bay serves as the northern tip of seven bays in Broadstairs. Yet there lies a spellbinding secret with these sea caves, which only emerge at low tide, beckoning visitors to time their visits perfectly to witness this concealed spectacle, so checking tidal schedules is crucial when planning a journey to Botany Bay, reports the Express. Furthermore, this "magical" coastline forms part of the Viking Coastal Trail, tracing the rugged Isle of Thanet in Kent, and featuring the dramatic chalk cliffs that Botany Bay is renowned for. The majestic free-standing chalk stacks that "tower like castles" have emerged on the beach due to the erosion of the cliffs, creating a perfect environment for exploration with numerous rock pools scattered along the shore. ‌ At low tide, caves concealed within the chalk cliffs become accessible, many of which were carved out by pirates and smugglers over 300 years ago. Having been awarded Blue Flag status in 2023, it's also a favoured spot for swimming and surfing, not to mention its golden sands were showcased in the BBC mini-series D-Day: The Last Heroes. ‌ During the peak season from May to September, lifeguards are stationed daily, and visitors can enjoy various cafes, restaurants, and the Captain Digby pub, which boasts an outdoor dining area with sea views. Botany Bay is accessible via a scenic 45-minute coastal walk from Margate or Broadstairs, or a quick taxi ride from any nearby Thanet town in Kent. For those driving, Lotte mentioned there's limited parking at the Botany Bay Hotel car park, which "fills up fast on sunny days". Alternatively, parking is available at Kingsgate Bay or Joss Bay, both around a 20-minute stroll from the beach.

I've Worn This 'Radiant' Skin Tint for Nearly A Decade – It's Still The Best One I've Ever Tried

The desperation for sunshine is constant when living in the UK. On the rare days the sun decides to show up, it barely sticks around long enough to leave a glow - let alone a tan - and when you do manage to soak up a few rays? It's all sunburn, peeling, and regret. My only option? A tinted serum. One product that has been a constant in my beauty arsenal for over eight years is By Terry's CC Serum in Sunny Flash. As a very fair-skinned girl, I'm always looking for a product that removes unwanted blue undertones and adds a natural, healthy-looking glow to my skin - and this serum hits the brief, and then some. Bronzing drops are one of the best ways to achieve that fresh off the plane glowy look, with many hitting viral status recently; notable mentions are Drunk Elephant's D-Bronzi and L'Oréal's Glotion, but none quite satisfied me quite as much as By Terry's CC serum. Although I've tried countless bronzing drops, I always find myself going back to this radiant, glowy formula. 1. Shop: By Terry Cellularose CC Serum - No.4 Sunny Flash So, why do I love it? Firstly, the shade: Sunny Flash instantly makes me look like I have had a two-week holiday tan, minus the jet lag or sun guilt. It's the most popular shade in the ever-growing line-up, and one that I used to regularly recommend to customers during my time working at SpaceNK, regardless of skin tone. The phrase 'universally flattering' gets thrown around, but this shade is designed to add warmth and radiance to every skin tone with its bronzy hue. Forget unflattering orange tones; the golden, bronze serum glides over the skin and instantly creates a hydrated and tanned finish. The texture mimics a hydrating, water-based serum you'd typically apply before moisturiser. However, this versatile formula can be applied as a primer, a complexion booster, mixed with your foundation or alone without any further make-up. The colour-correction formula helps to disguise any discolouration in the skin and treats any unwanted tones to leave the skin looking more even. Although this product doesn't gradually tan the skin, it instantly cheats the appearance of a warmer complexion, and I for one, would be lost without it.
