CM's 100-day prog: Women and child welfare dept tops

Mumbai: The state women and child welfare dept was ranked first among 48 Mantralaya depts in implementing the
CM's 100-day programme
after the Mahayuti govt was sworn into office in Dec last year. The dept, headed by NCP's Aditi Tatkare, scored 80%, followed by the public works dept, agriculture, rural development, and transport and ports dept. The evaluation results were announced by CM
Devendra Fadnavis
through a post on social media platform X.
The
Indian Quality Council
conducted the final evaluation of the 100-day office improvement programme. The tasks ranged from website enhancement, office facilities, grievance redressal, ease of living, investment promotion, and technology use. The top five in each field were identified by the council. Those who topped the list included the Palghar superintendent of police, Chandrapur district collector, Mira-Bhayandar police commissioner, Ulhasnagar municipal commissioner, Thane Zilla Parishad, and Director of Technical Education. The women and child welfare dept stated it updated its content management system, conducted a website security audit, and provided a list of services notified under the Right to Service Act. In collaboration with the central govt, 13,011 mini Anganwadi centres were converted into Anganwadis.tnn

Bhadradri Kothagudem Collector Jitesh V. Patil has earned wide appreciation from the Ministry of Jal Shakti for his pro-active role in promoting community-driven water conservation efforts under Jal Sanchay Jan Bhagidari (JSJB) initiative in the predominantly tribal dominated district. According to official sources, the construction of low-cost soak pits involving various government departments and all stakeholders in a collaborative mode and the impactful on-ground efforts under the JSJB initiative from April 1, 2024 to May 31, 2025, in the district came in for praise by the Jal Shakti Ministry. Under the JSJB initiative, thousands of soak pits and rainwater harvesting structures have been constructed through shramadan in different government buildings, including Anganwadi centres, schools and PHCs, besides several other locations across the district, to conserve water and increase the ground water table, sources added.

VIJAYAWADA: Marking a significant step towards environmental sustainability and women's welfare, the State government has made all arrangements for distribution of energy-efficient induction cooktops and compatible utensils to 11,400 Anganwadi Centrrs (AWCs) across the State in the first phase. The programme is being conducted to mark the World Environment Day to be celebrated on Thursday. The initiative, led by the Department of Women and Child Welfare, aligns with the Union Government's Go Electric campaign and the National Efficient Cooking Programme (NECP), championed by the Ministry of Power, the Bureau of Energy Efficiency (BEE) and Energy Efficiency Services Limited (EESL). The State and Central governments are trying to transitioning from LPG to Induction Cooking in the Anganwadi Centres. Timed to coincide with the World Environment Day, the initiative reinforces the State's commitment to climate action and clean energy adoption. Implemented in collaboration with EESL - a joint venture of Central public sector undertakings under the Ministry of Power - the large scale distribution programme will be launched by Minister for Women, Child Welfare and Tribal Welfare G Sandhya Rani along with public representatives on June 5 in Vijayawada. They will oversee the distribution of the energy-efficient induction cooktops and compatible utensils to Anganwadi Centres. Plans are underway to extend this initiative to all 55,607 Anganwadi centres across the State. EESL CEO Vishal Kapoor along with top officers including CGM Animesh Mishra are currently overseeing implementation. Benefits of Transitioning from LPG to Induction Cooking: Energy Efficiency: Induction cooktops are 30 per cent more efficient than traditional LPG stoves. Cost Savings: Switching to 1200 W induction stoves is projected to reduce recurring LPG costs, with annual savings estimated at Rs 24 crore. Environmental Impact: Expected to avoid approximately 28,327 tons of CO₂ emissions per year. Safety and Health: Eliminates open flames, reducing fire hazards and improving kitchen safety. Better Working Conditions: Creates cooler, cleaner, and safer environments for Anganwadi workers, especially during hot summers. Minister Gummidi Sandhya Rani, Secretary Surya Kumari (Department of Women and Child Welfare), and Director M Venu Gopal Reddy expressed gratitude to Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu and Union Minister Khattar for their continued guidance. They also acknowledged the contributions of Chief Secretary K Vijayanand, BEE, EESL, and other State Designated Agencies for their collaborative efforts. In Vijayawada, the induction stoves distribution programme will be held at Funtimes Club, Teachers Colony from 11 am to 1 pm on June 5.

The move helps reduce fraudulent claims and improve transparency in welfare read: HDFC Bank credit card rules changing from July 1, 2025: New charges on rent, gaming, and reward limits Last week, Maharashtra Women and Child Development Minister Aditi Tatkare revealed that more than 2,200 government employees had wrongly received benefits under the Ladki Bahin to the Central Board of Direct Taxes (CBDT), 'In pursuance of sub-clause (ii) of clause (a) of sub-section (1) of section 138 of the Income-tax Act, 1961, the Central Government hereby specifies 'Secretary to the Government of Maharashtra, Women and Child Development' for the purposes of the said clause in connection with sharing of information regarding Income-tax payers' for identifying eligible beneficiaries under the Mukhyamantri Mazi Ladki Bahin Yojana .'This decision has been made under Section 138(1)(a)(ii) of the Income-tax Act, 1961, which allows the government to disclose income tax-related information to specified authorities for public interest Mukhyamantri Mazi Ladki Bahin Yojana is a flagship initiative of the Maharashtra Government to provide financial assistance to specific women from economically weaker is the amount paid to eligible beneficiaries under the Mukhyamantri Mazi Ladki Bahin Yojana?According to the website, 'The said beneficiary woman may be receiving benefits of Rs. 1500 or more per month.'To be eligible for the Ladki Bahin Yojana, a beneficiary must be fulfil the following criteria:She must be a resident of the state of widowed, divorced, abandoned and destitute women in the state as well as only one unmarried woman in the minimum age should be 21 years and the maximum age of 65 beneficiary should have his own bank account linked to annual income of the beneficiary family should not exceed Rs. 2.50 woman who does not fulfil the eligibility criteria does not qualify to get assistance under the Ladki Bahin Scheme. For instance, if the beneficiary's combined annual family income exceeds Rs. 2.50 lakh, they will not be eligible for the benefit under the if the beneficiary's family members are income tax payers, then women cannot take benefit under Ladki Bahin per the scheme details, 'Those whose family members are working as regular/permanent employees in any Government Department/Undertaking/Board/Local Body of Government of India or State Government or are drawing pension after retirement. However, employees working through external agencies, voluntary workers and contractual employees with an income up to Rs. 2.50 lakhs will be eligible. If the beneficiary woman is receiving benefits of Rs. 1500/- or more per month through a financial scheme implemented by other government departments, or those whose family members are current or former MPs/MLAs, Those whose family members are Chairman/Vice Chairman/Director/Member of a board/Corporation/Undertaking of the Government of India or a State Government and Those who have a four-wheeled vehicle (excluding tractors) registered in the name of their family members.'
