Celebrity chef
Gordon Ramsay
said he struggles to cope with the "nonstop attention" that comes with fame and said that there's nowhere in the world where I'm not recognised.
He finds being famous is worse in America as he's constantly recognised because of his British accent, reports femalefirst.co.uk.
He told The Times newspaper: "Fame brings nonstop attention. There's nowhere in the world where I'm not recognised, but America is a different beast. I can put on a cap and dark glasses in the UK, but over there, the moment you open your mouth they recognise the accent and you're screwed."
Gordon went on to say he has learned to ignore his critics over the years but he's adamant he'll always defend members of his team.
He added: "I don't give a ... what the critics say. I've been criticised more than any chef on the planet and I've developed the skin of a rhinoceros. But I'll always defend my team if they've been hurt by a flippant remark or derogatory comment. You have to go in to bat for your team, right?"
It comes after Gordon recently said he has only dined at his eponymous
Michelin star restaurant
twice because it is "too posh" for him.
The 58-year-old chef has eaten at
Restaurant Gordon Ramsay
, which earned three Michelin stars in 2001, in Chelsea, West London, twice in 25 years, because he finds the experience "bloody intimidating", and insists such a level of dining is simply "not (his) style".
Gordon, who has been feted with 17 Michelin stars over his career, said on 'The Savoy Originals' podcast, he said: "There's a very fine line, running it or indulging in it.
"I've only had dinner at Restaurant Gordon Ramsay twice in 25 years. Once was for (daughter) Megan's birthday, and the second time was with
Bradley Cooper
when we were together for the film 'Burnt'. It's not my style. It's too posh for me. It sounds weird, right? You built the place and it's like, 'I'm not built that way. I can't sit there with that level."
"It's intimidating and it's a very special moment for the guests, not for me, because I'm a giver - I'm not a receiver."

‘Thug Life' box office collections day 2: Kamal Haasan's film collects only Rs 7.50 cr: Faces steep drop

(Picture Courtesy: Facebook) After an impressive start, Kamal Haasan and Mani Ratnam 's highly anticipated film 'Thug Life' witnessed a sharp decline in its box office performance on the second day. According to early estimates reported by the Sacnilk website, the film earned Rs 7.50 crore (across all languages) in India on Day 2, a significant decline from its Rs 15.5 crore opening. This brings the total two-day India net collection to Rs 23 crore. The dip in collections raises questions about the film's ability to sustain its momentum over the weekend, especially in non-Tamil markets. Occupancy dips outside Tamil Nadu 'Thug Life's Tamil version maintained a moderate occupancy rate on Friday with an overall 31.41%. The film showed gradual improvement throughout the day in Tamil Nadu, particularly in Chennai, which recorded a 59% night show occupancy. However, other regions like Madurai and Coimbatore hovered around the 25-30% range. Thug Life | Song - Vinveli Nayaga (Lyrical) In contrast, the film struggled in the Hindi and Telugu belts. The Hindi version registered a meagre 6.48% overall occupancy on Friday, with evening and night shows failing to gain traction. The Telugu version fared slightly better with a 14.17% overall occupancy, but still reflected limited interest compared to expectations from a pan-Indian release. Star-studded cast yet to boost momentum Despite a powerhouse cast featuring Kamal Haasan, Trisha Krishnan, Silambarasan, Aishwarya Lekshmi, Joju George, and Ali Fazal, the film's performance indicates it has not yet connected with a broader audience. With the weekend ahead, the makers will be hoping for a turnaround driven by word-of-mouth and fan support. However, unless there is a strong surge in occupancy across all language markets, 'Thug Life' risks falling short of its high expectations and production scale. What's next? The coming days will be crucial in determining whether the Mani Ratnam-Kamal Haasan collaboration can bounce back at the box office. Arise Sir David! Beckham to be awarded knighthood by King Charles: Report

David Beckham, the former England soccer captain who has been an ambassador for the UN children's fund for two decades, is to receive a knighthood in next week's honours list from King Charles III, according to UK media reports Friday. Without citing sources, the BBC said Beckham is set to receive further recognition both for his soccer career, and his contributions to British society. The knighthood will make Beckham 'Sir David' while his wife since 1999, former Spice Girl Victoria Beckham, will become 'Lady Beckham.' In 2003, Beckham was awarded the Order of the British Empire, or OBE, for services to soccer. Victoria Beckham got the same honour for services to the fashion industry in a later New Year Honours list. Honours are awarded twice a year, once at New Year's, and then in June to mark the king's birthday. They are mostly made on the recommendation of the government, though the monarch has input too. Prime Minister Keir Starmer's office would not confirm the press reports, as is custom. Buckingham Palace declined to comment. The Associated Press has not been able to independently confirm the award of the knighthood, which was first reported in The Sun tabloid newspaper. In video footage published by The Sun from the Chelsea Flower Show earlier this month, the king is seen asking Beckham if he 'received his 50th birthday present.' The King appeared to say 'I'm glad it got to you,' with Beckham responding: 'It was incredible, thank you, it was very kind.' Beckham and the king have crossed paths on numerous occasions, including at state functions. Last year, Beckham became an ambassador for The King's Foundation, an educational and sustainability charity Charles launched in 1990. Beckham, who is clearly a patriot, is the only English soccer player to score at three different World Cups and his illustrious career included the treble-winning campaign of 1999, when Manchester United won the Premier League, the FA Cup and the Champions League. With 115 appearances for the England national team, Beckham is third in the all-time list. He also captained the side on 59 occasions. After leaving Manchester United 2003, Beckham played for Real Madrid, Los Angeles Galaxy and Paris Saint-Germain. He now co-owns the MLS team Inter Miami. His career wasn't always a high, though. After the 1998 World Cup in France, Beckham was widely vilified for his petulant kick of Argentina player Diego Simeone, which saw him sent off. Many fans blamed him for England's exit. In 2023's Netflix documentary series 'Beckham,' he described the abuse he experienced, which included an effigy of him hanging from a noose outside a London pub. 'I knew it was bad at the time, but going over that whole thing was quite a tough one,' he told the AP. The four-part documentary series about Beckham's life and professional career scored him an Emmy in 2024 for outstanding documentary or non-fiction series. Beckham has been a style icon and celebrity and has been a prominent supporter of charities, including UNICEF, which created 'The David Beckham UNICEF Fund' in 2015 to mark a decade's partnership between the two. Beckham also played a pivotal role in London being awarded the Summer Olympic Games in 2012. If the knighthood is confirmed, Beckham would join an elite group of British soccer players to have been knighted, including England's 1966 World Cup winners, Geoff Hurst and Bobby Charlton, and Scotland's Kenny Dalglish.

A Stranger in Three Worlds: Tracing Aubrey Menen's search for identity

With biting wit, Menen maps the universality of exclusion Amritesh Mukherjee Listen to This Article A Stranger in Three Worlds: The Memoirs of Aubrey Menen Published by Speaking Tiger 280 pages ₹499 The soul of humanity lies in contradictions. We are as charged with kindness as beset with cruelty, as quick to judge as yearning to be heard, and as mindless in existence as reflective in every moment. Aubrey Menen, the British writer whose satirical retelling of the Ramayana, Rama Retold was banned in India in 1955, was a man who knew how to capture those contradictions. It feels fitting, then, that his two autobiographies, republished recently, have polar perspectives on identity and nationality. Or
